Sipple's back on the boat:

Nebraska fans certainly deserve better than what they saw Saturday, from both the defense and offense. However, I do think this staff has shown it can produce a conference championship. It's consistently been in the hunt and twice came up just short (2009-10). Just a week or so ago, folks were talking about how NU was poised to move into the national top 10. Remember that?

How close have we been once we didn't have 4-5 future NFL guys (mostly Cally recruits) on the defense? In four years in the mediocre Big 10, we have appeared in ONE title game, and we lost in embarrassing fashion to the #2 team in the Leaders division.

jesus Sip. Really? This staff? No Carl. No Ekeler. No Watson. No Sanders. No Gilmore. Then, Beck was RB coach, Papuchis was rush ends, Cotton was oline, warren wasnt here. Garrison wasnt here. Fuscher wasnt here. Els wasnt here. Ron brown was TE coach.

This staff today is nothing that it was then except for Bo. And they still crumbled in critical moments then too. Its all at the top.

Jesus Sipple is an embarrassment.

So we've gone from supporting the Husker, to hating Bo, Tim and Pap, to wanting them to drop the last 3 games so we can fire them all...

Sigh.

Screw you all. GO BIG RED! WIN ALL THREE GAMES! NOT TO SAVE THE JOBS OF THE COACHES, BUT FOR THE KIDS OUT THERE PLAYING BALL!!!

The real fans do not wish this. I just don't see this staff turning the corner that we all expect them to. We keep thinking the next game is the time, only to be let down again and again and again and again. Nothing changes. We see the same meltdowns and mistakes year in and year out made by different players. This points to a systemic issue with the coaching staff. I have long supported this staff, but if we want more of the same which is gimme wins and no real wins over good competition, then lets just keep quiet. I will of course continue to root for the team no matter what.

Not going to actively root for Armageddon (i.e., losing the next two games), but if we do go 8-4 and lose the bowl game as well, I certainly won't mind not having to hear "#9wins!" from the Bo brigade ever again.

If we (gulp) split the games between Minn & Iowa, who do we play in a bowl? West Virginia or Florida? How exciting.....

What irks me the most about the OP's quote is that it's factually untrue. Is Bo an idiot, or is he being deliberately ignorant?

Yes, dingus, giving up the most rushing yards a single player has ever achieved in the history of the game DOES ONLY HAPPEN TO YOU. It doesn't happen to Iowa. It doesn't happen to Iowa State. It doesn't happen to Purdue, Minnesota, or Northwestern. And it sure as hell doesn't happen to Wisconsin, who has made you their bitch two times in two games on national freakin' TV.

I thought I was waaaay past irritated or angry, but when you hear rationalizing idiocy like that coming out of your defensive-guru HC's mouth, it's like a needle prick to the brain.

If you want to go ahead and feel worse about the situation, listen to 1620 the zone. Sip is backtracking on his comments from Saturday / Sunday. He is talking about how he has been use to this since 2001 against CU and that he cant wait to see how these kids respond against Minnesota & Iowa. Give me a freaking break man. This program is exhausting.

Well, his credibility is now as extinct as T. Rex.

I'm also guessing very few $3 million head coaches who were brought in as defensive gurus have presided over 6 of the 8 worst defensive performances in their school's 125 year history.

Pelini again blames the players for not playing the way they've been coached. Thats the most unfortunate thing.

Seven years in Bo, and your guys still can't figure it out? Or they have figured it out and it doesn't work? It really doesn't change the fact that a proclaimed defensive guru owns twomofmthe ugliest defensive performances of all time at Nebraska. These things don't just happen.

Well they didn't watch the film. But, that's not where the problem is, that's just we see on the field. Bo doesn't do well with adversity, he seems like the type of guy that's smart but not witty it takes him a little while to come up with something after he has been slapped in the face and that's how his team plays. hey see something different and get slapped in the face and by the time they decide to make a change its too late the damage is to much to overcome.

I'm commenting more towards Bo still blaming players for not executing his scheme. Seven years in and we are still struggling to execute. Somewhere between Bo's brilliant defensive mind, and getting his players to put it on the field, there's an issue. Or the issue is maybe a lack of brilliance, I'm not sure. Either way it doesn't matter what a coach knows, he's not playing the game, it's what that coach can get on the field. Tim Beck is one of the worst I've seen in this aspect.

You're right though, things tend to snowball quickly.

I have always been a Bo supporter, but I am just to the point that we are never going to get anywhere if he stays the coach. I just don't get it really its not like he doesn't know what he is doing from a football stand point but maybe from a Managers stand point he doesn't know how to deal with the other coaches or sees what no one else does. All I know is we have talent on the team and they are not putting it all out on the field.
