AFhusker
Gotta love the people that talk smack on how weak the schedule was when we were in the B8. Weird, more ranked teams played during that time - in lesser games - compared to the vaunted days of the B12 and B1G. The weak decade for the Big 8 was the 80s. Especially from 80-85 because Colorado was just starting to get decent under McCartney in 1986, while KSU, KU, ISU, and Mizzou were horrible. oSu was pretty good in the late 80's but couldn't win against NU or OU. HTO
The weak decade for the Big 8 was the 80s. My comment wasn't specific to the B8, I stated, "how weak the schedule was when we were in the B8." Excluding bowl and conference title games (1980-1989, 2005-2014) Nebraska played 29 ranked opponents in the 80's Nebraska played 30 ranked opponents in the last 10 seasons Excluding bowl and conference title games 1980's, Nebraska played 113 regular season games Last 10 years, Nebraska played 119 regular season games Breakdown 1980's, Nebraska played a ranked opponent every 3.89 opponents Last 10 years, Nebraska played a ranked opponent every 3.96 opponents The schedule in the 80's is no different than it is now. Guy Chamberlin
Going by the AP Poll since 2008, Bo Pelini teams are 9 - 16 against teams that were ranked in the Top 25 at game time. All three games against ranked opponents in 2008 were losses. The three wins in 2009 (Missouri, Oklahoma and Arizona) were against teams that finished the season unranked. The two wins in 2010 (Missouri and Oklahoma State) were against teams that finished the season #18 and #13 respectively. The two wins in 2011 were against Michigan State, which finished the season #11 and Penn State, which finished the season unranked. The one win in 2012 was against Michigan, which finished the season #24. The one win in 2013 was against Georgia, which finished the season unranked. No wins against ranked teams in 2014. That adds up to a total of four wins in seven years against teams that ended the season in the Top 25: 2010 Okie State #13 2010 Missouri #18 2011 Michigan State #11 2012 Michigan #24 4 Quote Link to comment

Curious where you're pulling this from? I don't ask in confrontation, just to update what I have... 2008, 0-3 vs top 25 2009, 3-2 vs top 25 2010, 2-2 vs top 25 2011, 2-3 vs top 25 (hard page doesn't show Michigan or USCe ranked, click on game and it shows) ((my mistake, didn't have them figured in up above, caught it late)) 2012, 1-3 vs top 25 2013, 1-3 vs top 25 2014, 0-3 vs top 25 9-19 vs top 25 Quote Link to comment

No wins against a team that finished in the top 10......Ultimately, at least for the MNC, its not where you start that matters, its where you end up....And still only 9-16 when ranked during our meeting......
