JT Barrett Arrested

Recommended Posts

If I got caught driving with a .09 BAL while underage I would have gotten a hell of a lot more than a $400 fine and revoked license.

You also don't live in Ohio. What he received is pretty normal. (he also had to attend an alcohol intervention program for three days). This is not special treatment for a football player.

Thing is, this was an OVI, not even a DUI, which the title of this thread was misleading. He was fined, but not arrested as there's no jailtime associated with an OVI

An OVI is the same thing as a DUI. https://www.ohiobar.org/ForPublic/Resources/LawYouCanUse/Pages/LawYouCanUse-368.aspx

It is a good chance you would have gotten the same thing if it happened in Ohio.

DUI implies driving. OVI, you could be sleeping in the driver's seat and still be charged.

Read the link; pretty clearly states that DUI, DWI, and OMVI are no longer used in the Ohio court system.
