Spring Position Battles - Offensive Line

Jerald Foster and Tanner Farmer were the guards on the first-team line Saturday. That’s about what Husker fans and pundits projected at this point in their careers. It’s been a bit of a winding road for both, but, should they keep their starting spots, the 2014 offensive line recruiting class, which included Nick Gates, looks pretty terrific. As to the excellence of line play, I’ll defer to the season upcoming. Like parts of the defense, and Armstrong’s decision-making, the offensive line will just have to prove — first to coach Mike Cavanaugh and then to the millions of NU fans who love good line play like a well-broiled steak — that they can be solid.

OWH Spring Standouts

Right guard Tanner Farmer: He lost more than 30 pounds in the offseason, took charge of the starting guard job and now appears poised to live up to the considerable recruiting hype he enjoyed coming to Nebraska.

Left guard Jerald Foster: He probably should have played more last season, but Foster is now the starting left guard and a budding leader of the unit. He talks and carries himself with confidence.
