Redux
Let me just put this scenario out there: We go to Columbus. For 3 Quarters we shock thr hell out of them and carry a 17 point lead into the 4th quarter. 5 minutes left, the Buckeyes have stormed back with 13 points but we are driving. Suddenly, a bad handoff happens and the Buckeyes turn it into a TD with a minute left and win the game. Heartbreaking. Or would you rather.... Nebraska @ Ohio State 2012 When you keep changing the parameters it makes it hard to have a coherent conversation. That was my elaboration on post #6. See post #23 for my simple answer to a vague question. Quote Link to comment

NUance
if NU doesn't go undefeated at home in 2016, it's an epic failure. I always thought that Pelini fella was a pretty good coach. But he only had one undefeated home season in seven years. So I guess his other six seasons were epic failures. : My comment about being undefeated at home is for B1G games only. I did mis-type and I have fixed the OP. Have you seen how crappy our conference opponents that are coming into Lincoln? My comment has nothing to do with what Pelini did. Pelini had only one season that he didn't lose a home conference game. But this thread isn't about Pelini so we can't talk about that. ========================== I don't see a home game on our schedule that we shouldn't win. But the thing is, none of them are 100% certain wins. What do you think the odds of us winning each home conference game are? Let me pull some numbers out of thin air to talk about. I think these odds for each home game are reasonable: (Maybe even a bit optimistic.) 90% Illinois 90% Purdue 75% Minnesota 90% Maryland If you can believe the percentages above, the odds of us running the table in home conference games is about 55%. (If I'm remembering basic statistics correctly, that is. lol) So even though it's overwhelmingly likely that we'll win any single home conf game on our schedule looked at individually, there is about a 45% chance that we'll drop one game. I literally copy and pasted the thread title into my post then gave my answer here. I think some are reading far too much into what I said originally. Let me just answer the thread title. Would you be ok with NU winning 1-2 "big games" each year, if it meant losing 1-2 games they "shouldn't": No, I want to win every game. Are you looking for a reason to disagree with me? StPaulHusker
Is the overall record 11-1 or 10-2? Because that will impact my answer. Quote Link to comment
marko polo
Nope. That's settling. That is about the best way to sum it up. We are settlers " that's what we do " at least lately. 1 Quote Link to comment

It just comes natural to some after mediocrity has crept in. hard to reverse it once it takes hold. 2 Quote Link to comment

Or he could be implying we've settled for no big wins or championships under Pelini. Cuz we know you'd really like that. Jeebus, man, it was just joke, and a clever play on a recent series of TV commercials. You feeling okay? Or are you just celebrating today's "Star Wars Day: The Dark Side: Revenge of the 6th"? 2 Quote Link to comment

If by 2018 we haven't seen a considerable improvement to our state of the program I'll be shocked. Quote Link to comment

StPaulHusker
Michigan St lost a game they shouldn't have and were selected to the CFP. If that is the trade off, then I don't have a problem with a loss. Quote Link to comment

Oh, that's right....you didn't see it cuz you have me on ignore. *snicker* Oops, sorry. Somebody here doesn't think highly of "snicker". I forget who, though. *chortle* 1 Quote Link to comment
