Guy Chamberlin
I've been a fan of Nebraska football for over 45 years... My apologies. I thought you were a young kid with ADD. 2 Quote Link to comment
cm husker
Modern Nebraska football is based on a 4th choice coach who almost turned down the job and a coach promoted from within and who would have been fired had he not been defended by that 4th choice coach. NU has about as much chance hiring a marquee established coach as Iowa and KSU do. We need to identify young coaches with ability to grow into greatness. Then we need to have some flipping patience. Even through the volitale periods. A couple of more ahitty years, and we'll probably be ready to put the work in again. Quote Link to comment

Devaney was the 4th choice of the AD who hired him. In other words, not a "sure fire marquee hire." And he almost turned NU down. Devaney kept the wolves at bay in the 70s when it was very real that TO might be fired or at least encouraged to find a mutual parting of ways. Nebraska fans have an incredibly inflated sense of self worth and therefore entitlement. It's why we are what we are today. Quote Link to comment

When Tim Beck caused Ohio State to loose one game last year... there were petitions started and websites created for the sole purpose of demanding that Tim Beck be fired. Entitled fans indeed. This is all a natural reaction... a natural part of sports. What some other fans don't like about it is that fan reactions sometimes do have the affect of causing some coaching staffs and athletic directors to loose their jobs. It's been going on since the beginning of football. My loyalty is to the Nebraska Football Program and what's best for the program... not to any particular coach or athletic director, especially if they're doing harm to the program. Husker Psycho
Wow, I didn't know so much could be made out of a preseason coaches poll. So are you advocating that everyone just stop commenting and no one come here ? I believe in conversation and discussion. I think it's healthy. It's good for the program and good for "business". People who are constantly coming here and trying to get people to stop talking and attempting to run people off... are bad for the program and bad for "business". Quote Link to comment
knapplc
That seems to imply that all conversations and discussions have equal merit. That is not so. 1 Quote Link to comment
Husker Psycho
That seems to imply that all conversations and discussions have equal merit. That is not so. I didn't say that at all. But who's to decide what discussion has merit ? You ? Me ? Someone with an agenda to get people to stop talking ? Someone who thinks only their comments have merit ? 1 Quote Link to comment

Husker Psycho
Don't confuse asking people to stop talking nonsense with asking people to stop talking. 3 years before our former coach was fired... there were a few fans calling for the firing of that coach... They were accused a zillion times of talking "nonsense"... they turned out to be right... they turned out to be the wise ones. 1 Quote Link to comment
