Even with this loss

Our program is taking a step forward with Riley.

But, we have an astronomically low chance of getting to Indy. I don't see much of a chance of Northwestern upsetting Wisconsin.

I'm gathering that their fans are less optimistic than you are about their chances there. They have a history of losing there according to them. I'm a Northwestern fan this weekend. My understanding is that if Wisky loses even if we lose to OSU and win the rest of our games we're going to Indy?

If we lose to tOSU and win the rest we would go to Indy if NW beats Wiscy. Wiscy has 2 conference losses, but the win over us. So if we both have 2 conference losses after 12 games, they would win the division.

That's what I thought, I'm glad we still control our destiny. I hope we play focused this weekend with that in mind. :thumbs

Yeah as of right now, we win out and we win the division outright. That would easily be the preferred method.

After watching us play Wiscy, I feel a lot better about lining up against Michigan if it comes down to it.

Side note: If Wisconsin wins the division and has to play tOSU again, there is a strong chance they win and get left out of the playoff.

25 yards away from a victory...can't be all that upset.

I figured 7-1 is where they would be at this point and I do think they will lose next week but I also figure they end up 10-2

I wasn't as optimistic going into this season after last season. I had us losing to Oregon, Wisconsin, OSU and possibly Iowa. So either 8-4 or 9-3. This second half of the schedule is becoming harder than I thought it would at this point. Minnesota and Maryland seem to be better than I thought, but Iowa is worse.

Every one of Nebraska's linemen were better than the Wisconsin player they were in charge of? Is that what you are saying?

No.

As a group, we are better. Or at least should be.

Based solely on the numbers you offered and not taking any intangibles into consideration, correct?

I thought 5-2 was realistic, but my original feeling was that 10-2 was a great job by the staff. 9-3 was an adequate job. 8-4 is ok, but concerning. Worse than 8-4 was a really bad job.

I think we are still on pace for "great job." I'd be shocked if we drop to 8-4 or worse.

A great effort by the team that was at a talent and health deficit to Wisc playing on their home field. We had chances to win this game and the D, outside of a couple of plays, played wonderfully. I'm encouraged by the progress this team has made over last year. If we had a more consistent QB play, I think we win this game without issue. I say that not as a blow against TA, he is a good QB but is too inconsistent - and that may be in part to the play calling by Langs. Perhaps more plays capitalizing on his running may have been better. I do questing the final pass play - seems like we should have tried to just get the 1st down versus going for a long pass in the end zone. I would have liked to see DPE cutting across the middle and getting the yardage with his legs vs TA's arm.

I think it is great that we don't get embarrassed on national TV. I believe we will play OSU well and hope we aren't limited by injuries.

Tommy is playing hurt right now.

Still a closet Hawkeye fan I see

Iowa was bashed all last year for being overrated and scheduling sh*tty non conference games like Pittsburgh. Jeez how many times can Iowa schedule that University in a 10 year span? Iowa dodged OSU, Michigan State, Michigan and Penn State last year. We've played those teams more than Iowa has since we've joined the B1G.

Iowa got exposed last year in allowing a 8-9 minute 4th quarter drive in the title game, got curbed stomped in the Rose Bowl and the icing on the cake was getting beat at home as the #13 team in the nation by an FCS North Dakota State team.

Nebraska actually takes scheduling non conference games more seriously than Iowa and comparing Nebraska to Iowa of last year is laughable and insulting.

I have no love for the Hawkeyes, but I also have no interest in partaking in the anti-Iowa circle jerk that takes place on Nebraska boards.

Through 8 games, 2015 Iowa beat an 8-5 Pitt team (you can't control how good the teams you schedule are, but it's rich seeing you whine about this one so much when they're way better than our marquee OOC Oregon matchup has turned out to be), a 10-3 Wisconsin team, and a 10-3 Northwestern team. They played some clunkers as well, but our best wins are over 6-2 Wyoming, 4-4 Northwestern, and either 3-5 Oregon or 4-4 Indiana.

Please remind me how Pittsburgh has been the last 10 years?

Now compare Pittsburgh with Oregon in the last 10 year span. I really shouldn't have to point the obvious out should I? I mean it's really not that hard to figure out.

Funny how you point out how you can't control how your opponents does during the season but yet finish your paragraph pointing out the records of 3 of our opponents of this year with a .500 or less record.

Again the comparison between the 15' Hawkeyes to the Huskers of this year isn't the same....Not.Even.Close

Yep. Through 8 games Iowa had played a tougher schedule.
