HuskermanMike
Stanley Morgan has played really well and so has Westy this year. Outside of them, where is Alonzo Morore, Brandon Reilly and DPE? Those three have underachieved this year whether it be injury or just not playing well. It seems last year these guys were much better, but this year there is a drop off in the production for various reasons. Alonzo Moore has not showed up the last two games, outside of those he has been pretty solid. What do we need to see out of them to be more successful? They need to win some more catchable footballs that come their way in my opinion. Not all of the throws have been perfect but there has been some drops/ missed opportunities this year. What would you grade the receiver play this year? To me it just seems underwhelming compared to the last two years. 1 Quote Link to comment
Swiv3D
Reilly and Moore have been dealing with injuries throughout the season, and dpe was close to redshirting before the season began due to a lingering injury. Quote Link to comment
BigRedBuster
I think we have had very good WR play. However, it seems like the level of production really drops off after Morgan and Westy. So, it's much like what you have pointed out. My biggest surprise is I thought our group would be deeper. When Westy went down for a couple games, we really saw a drop in production. ColoradoHusk
DPE is going to be inconsistent as a WR, because he's not a natural WR. While he's great at returning punts, he's not a great receiver. I think he would be better used in bubble screens or other plays where he's asked to weave through the defense like he has to in the punt return game. 1 Quote Link to comment
BaytownHusker
We have good receivers not great ones. We need great one to come in and Play lights out. Take over games with 8-9 catches a game like elite guys do. We dont have one of those. You can cover any of our guys with a above average DB. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Morgan really struggled Saturday. Not that they were easy catches but he had 2-3 that you'd really like to see a guy make when your team needs someone to step up. Two of them went right through his hands. But I think the main problem is not having a QB who can really pass. We're under 50% completions for the year and most of that is not the receivers' fault. Tommy can really throw it but he's a terrible passer. Quote Link to comment
BaytownHusker
Our WR's have dropped some balls as well. All in all our WR corps are over rated. IMO. I am sure that will change in future years but not at the moment. Quote Link to comment
