lo country
Watching sports center this morning and they were talking about Miami returning to the top. They talked a lot about the past culture of Miami. The swag, the hard physical style of play and the championships.....They talked about Miami being down for years and finally appear to have rounded the corner with Richts. They talked about him being a former Cane and understanding the culture. Understood what they needed to do to become on top again. They interviewed Jimmy Johnson and asked if Miami was back. He simply replied, they're not back until they're winning championships. That's a winners mentality. That's the Miami culture. It used to be ours until Cally IMHO. Their path seems similar to ours. A once dominant program that has met hard times. Multiple coaches with the same results.... Richt comes in and in year 2, they're top 10, undefeated and should win their division and play Clemson for the ACC..... Miami went out and went back to what they know and what they were. A Miami kid who was part of the culture, good, bad and ugly. Richt also went out and actively recruited the great Miami players to come back and talk to and interact with the players. Give them a front row seat to the greatness that was "The U"... Seems like NU has the opportunity to do the same in Frost..... mods, feel free to merge if needed. Just thought ESPN game day could've been talking about NU (hopefully they will be in year 2) Edited November 12, 2017 by lo country 7 Quote Link to comment
jessica0
Yes it is a model that Nebraska should replicate. The chances of doing it the way Alabama did will just result in several more coaching turnover. Scott Frost is the guy we need that fits the Miami model. Nebraska can rebound from this. jessica0
This is the most confidence that I have seen Miami play with since 2001. Richt has turned that program a complete 180. 2 Quote Link to comment
brophog
We will see if Miami lasts. Good season, good game tonight. Quote Link to comment
zoogs
I guess Mark Richt would have been a pretty good hire. 2 Quote Link to comment

Richt struggles (stuggles-ish, they were still good years) at UGA and leaves. 2 years later both Miami and UGA are top 10 teams. I'm not sure we've ever seen something like that. Nebhawk
I like your thought process. If we had Miami area to recruit, we too could rebuild in a short time. Quote Link to comment

How many times, just today, did a defender sit in a hole and wait to get hit by a ball carrier? I just hate that. What should be maybe a yard is now 5 as the ball carrier drives forward. That's not tackling, it's getting your ass kicked. Quote Link to comment
KCBuc
Miami as a model moving forward for $2000, Alex. What is: Title of a thread that you NEVER in your life time thought you would see on a Husker board. 1 Quote Link to comment

They do have more "local" talent, but are competing with UF, FSU, UCF, USF and the rest of the country for talent. Quote Link to comment

And MI went out and got the guy that knows MI and they turned things around. Now that he finally put in the younger QB their offense is doing better. Quote Link to comment
