  1. absolutely right, fans have no significant impact on the Huskers image.
  2. I've learned ever since joining this board, there are some Husker fans out there that don't respect the game or the teams that play it.
  3. Pierson El took the kickoffs for Kenny Bell I believe. Until that last one of course.
  4. Didn't Kenny have a groin injury last season that limited him at the end of the season? I really do feel for Jamal Turner. The kid has tried so hard to make it and show his skills on the field.
  5. It's hard to watch our offensive line get man-handled by a smaller defensive line. Put those guys on their butts and open some running room Ameer, Cross, and Newby.
  6. Put that above the entrance! Being a dark skinned guy, I'd be afraid to walk-in.
  7. Yea, i wouldn't rank Bo Pelini as #9. I'd put him somewhere in the Top 5. Truthfully I think you need to leave James Franklin, Darrell Hazell and Gary Anderson out of this. Why? They are new to the Big Ten and their teams. At least with the others they have been with the team for longer than 1 season. So there is more to go off of from these coaches. Pat Fitzgerald has been outstanding at Northwestern? Ha. His wins may be on the same level, but he has lost nearly twice as many games as Bo. Nor has he won a conference championship or been to a BCS bowl game. And Bo has taken the Huskers to 6 consecutive bowl games. To me the ranking should look more like this. 1. Urban Meyer 2. Mark Dantonio 3. Kirk Ferentz 4. Bo Pelini 5. Gary Anderson 6. Jerry Kill 7. Pat Fitzgerald 8. Brady Hoke 9. Randy Edsall 10. Tim Beckham 11. Kyle Flood 12. Kevin Wilson 13. James Franklin 14. Darrell Hazell
  8. I thought it was mentioned that the game had the most offensive yards under Bo Pelini and it was the most points scored in a season opener under Bo Pelini.
  9. Wow, South Carolina fell below two Big Ten teams? They must love us more than ESPN.
  10. I thought the defensive rotation was okay, but there wasn't nearly as much as the offense. I saw 10 different guys playing on the defensive line. I saw 10, maybe 11 different guys playing in the secondary. I thought there wasn't enough rotation between the linebackers though. Only 6 different guys. Hopefully with McNeese St. we will see the same amount of rotation, but with a bit more balance between the offense and defense.
  11. I'll wait patiently for the right time to discuss the TA vs. TM debate...
  12. The aggressive play calling at the end of the 1st half was all Beck. Bo had his headset off at that point, IIRC. I really liked that. Running a 2 min drill kind of deal was a very good thing. I know I wasn't alone when I wished Kenny Bell had been able to bring in that catch. And I don't think I was alone in being upset about that new rule that you can't spike the ball to stop time with less than 3 seconds left on the clock. The only two calls I thought were questionable were the holding by Mark Pelini and the chop block on Jake Cotton. Jamal Turner's block in the back was legit penalty. Kenny Bell's holding was, ehh. I doubt it made much of difference on the play, but it was holding.
  13. Offense looked good. Not its best though. Tommy has accuracy issues. Mentally, he is close, still saw him throw to covered receivers instead of open guys on the other side of the field. He tends to stare down certain receivers. But the kid has one hell of an arm. Ameer said he wanted to be a complete back, I think he has made that point very clear today, keeping two hands on the ball when running into contact. Sets the example for the younger guys. Imani Cross seems to have a quicker burst of speed of him, I love it. T. Newby, really good looking back, still needs improvement though. Being patient, moving the ball to the outside so it won't get stripped from him, covering the ball when taking a hit. Saw many times with both Cross and Newby where they got hit and only saw one hand holding the ball and I just held my breath hoping they didn't fumble. Receiver wise, I saw a few drops that should have been catches, and a few that were well overthrown or behind them, and again I chalk that up to QB accuracy. OL, all I can say about that is WOW, saw A LOT of different guys take the field and get reps out there. It was pretty consistent, only a few times on run play I would've liked to see them get a better push on the line of scrimmage. Defensively, Bo was right, they didn't neccesarily know what FAU was going to throw at them. I would say the first 2 drives by FAU were a bit rough. And again in the 3rd quarter was another rough drive. But I thought defensive line did better as the game went on, they got the push they really needed to disrupt the QB and take care of the running game. The secondary is still a little iffy. I think I'll reserve my better judgment of how our secondary will fair against Fresno St. Last note on the defense, gotta take advantage of turnovers. Could've easily had 3 INT and 1 fumble recovery. Special Teams looked okay, better than last year. One sidenote though, I think a lot of folks, not all of them, complain about the special teams but really have no idea what to expect or have unreasonably high expectations for the special teams on every play, and just want something to complain about.
  14. They did better with blocking on the punt returns and I could've swore I saw them line everyone up to go after the punter and try to block it.
  15. correct This morning when Kalu tweeted it was the first I had seen of the switch. Was suppose to be Leroy's number. I saw Leroy on the sideline with his jersey on, still said #2. But I saw Kalu out there first and wondered who it was. I couldn't read the back of jersey.
  16. I'm still counting. Saw so many different guys out there playing. Either way its good to see them get playing time and footage for the coaches to see. Pretty sure I saw 4 or 5. Drew Brown, De'Mornay Pierson El, Kieron Williams, Chris Jones, Kalu.
  17. Yea, I think Collins will impress quite a bit of people in the stands. I think Newby will impress people too on the offensive side of the ball.
  18. I'd like to see Ameer on special teams like during his first year and we thought "who is that guy?!"
  19. The only legit crime I could believe Bo being arrested for, is some form of assault or battery.
  20. Yea, they did it a couple of years ago. FAU 2009, Season Opener in Lincoln. *edit* That video is the 2009 one. Shellenberger retired after that season and Carl left to take the job. This isn't new.
