  1. Why do all of our linemen believe imitating a speed bump is good football? First the defense and now the offense It looks like Minnesota flat out stole their manhood. This game isn't even worth 60 minutes of my time.
  2. Definitely some truth in this. New offenses develop and defenses adjust to it over time. Wisconsin has benefited by staying the same on offense while defenses have evolved to being less able to stop them. Teams with overwhelming talent such as OSU can still stop them. Pelini's defense which was effective in the pass happy B12 getting ran over by Wisconsin made this painfully obvious. I think it's prudent for Frost to bring back some of TO's power run elements to help our defense prepare while adding to our own playbook. No better time to do so while TO is still around to teach some of the nuances. We still have to contend with Midwestern weather so it would be nice to still have an effective offense in November. Wisconsin's strategy is paying off because they now have a complimentary defense capable of shutting down spread offenses or slowing them down enough that their ball control offense works well. If your high powered offense misfires a few times against them and you aren't equipped to stop their offense, they'll bury you. Currently we have a defense that can't stop a child and rule changes favor offenses so I don't know what Frost will do. He sees that we are squishy soft which is such a contrast from when he played here so the temptation is probably there to bring back something from the past.
  3. We're probably heading toward ESPN bottom 10 too. I don't think the fanbase can take much more of the program being dragged along the bottom. We're taking a lot of damage. The players need to step up.
  4. I'd say the problem is grass. But TCF has Field Turf.
  5. I'd like to know what is going on with the dirty play. First it was the Colorado game then Khalil against Illinois and now tonight. Is it just Khalil? I know we didn't have all choir boys in the past but I don't remember so many blatant dirty plays and always thought we just played hard but clean. I don't even recall Suh doing anything questionable while he was here. This season has tanked so might as well set expectations going forward and bench Khalil for Indiana and Purdue. Maybe Wisconsin will beat some sense into him. I listened to some of Fleck's post game presser and he emphasized pride in all things Minnesota. I can see why he had Minnesota put on their jerseys instead of names for a while. Having a former player from Nebraska that won a NC for Nebraska and is now coaching for Nebraska, with other former Nebraska players on staff not instilling a sense of Nebraska pride in the team nor a killer instinct is baffling. It seems like something that should happen automatically.
  6. Indiana shut out Butgers. Purdue blew out Maryland but Purdue has looked bad this season. We need to scrape a win out of the lesser teams of Indiana, Purdue or Maryland but we'll probably be dogs in those games. 5 wins will be an improvement over last year and the team might shut it down for the rest of the season. A bowl game is unlikely. I know Iowa and Wisconsin will blow us out. Wisconsin D is able to end the no shutout streak unless Chryst takes sympathy after going up by 60. I can't believe that is a thing anyway with all of the incredibly bad teams we've had recently so it doesn't really matter. It looked like our O is still having difficulty executing basic plays. That is probably keeping Frost from opening up the playbook. Sounds like we had better snaps tonight, no turnovers, 5-33 yards in penalties so some improvements. Baby steps.
  7. For years under TO we got blasted in bowl games by various Florida teams before he fixed the defense. Improvements take a long time at Nebraska. I don't know why.
  8. I've stopped watching the games. There are more entertaining games to watch without getting frustrated. I sampled some of the 3rd qtr and the first thing I heard was the announcer saying something about us playing without pride and our defense was doing their speed bump impersonation again. That's all I needed to know. I switched it back to the other game to see players playing with passion which is what I like about CFB. Frost needs to fix that otherwise we aren't going to accomplish anything.
  9. The only message to Nebraska fans would be the one we already know which is that Beck is a dunderhead. Crazy that we are now two coaching changes removed but Burrow is still playing and now tearing it up. I'm glad for the kid that he didn't come here and suffer through the Relliy experiment. Would have been nice to have a capable senior QB for Frost's first season though.
  10. We need to restore the kicker pipeline from Kearney... and the tailback pipeline from Omaha... and the fullback pipeline from Butler County in case we want to use them... and the OL pipeline from 8 man football teams
  11. I believe we usually get our kickers from Kearney. Good news.
  12. Watched the replay and was very encouraged. We are capable of playing smart and disciplined. Some penalties were disappointing but we had zero turnovers I think the coaches drilled it into the players that they could win if they didn't beat themselves. NW's last drive shows that we can play NW ball better than NW. They had penalties, almost fumbled and ultimately threw a pick. Throughout the game our defense was close to making a few interceptions and getting another fumble. We didn't take a lot of chances with conservative play calling and our QBs weren't just slinging it. I'm starting to see a real team. Players are listening to the coaches and the coaches are getting smarter while still being creative. Our backups appear to be better prepared then we've seen in a long time which will pay off in the future. The defense is playing OK. We need better production out of the offense but as a team we are improving.
  13. Spare me the "It's just Illinois, Northern Illinois, South Alabama and Northwestern" talk Sam. We've got a conference to win!
  14. MN is an important game for bowl eligibility. A win makes it possible to get bowl eligible since we should be able to win one more against Indiana or Purdue. A loss would require us to beat both which would be difficult. The next 3 games are important. If MN is our last win then at least we improved from 4-8. If we lose to MN we can still get another win against Indiana or Purdue and also improve. Win or lose to MN, we can still improve from last season.
  15. I hope he realizes football isn't soccer and we will generally score more than 1 TD in future games. I'd hate to lose our Spanish announcer so he needs to pace himself.
  16. Thanks @knapplc and @Mavric. I've caught a few big matches over the years when they were playing for high stakes and what little I've seen this season didn't quite seem the same. I noticed Stanford lost to BYU after beating us so I didn't know what to think. Some kind of championship would be nice this season.
  17. We need to stick with Martinez because of his greater reach.
  18. It looks like NW is still using it
  19. That play where Fields rolled out to his right and got the CB to come up to stop him from running which left the wide receiver wide open worked much better than anytime I've seen us run it. I think by that time Fields had a couple of long runs.
  20. For people that follow volleyball regularly, should a fan be concerned about this loss or does this sometimes happen and we can still have an excellent season? Losing in straight sets doesn't seem like a good sign.

    B1G Week 6

I wasn't either until today's game against Illini. We'll need to play our best game to date to win. We can win but past performance and all...
