  1. Getting rid of Riley now provides nothing that's beneficial and will only make things worse. These are all his guys, there's no one on this staff who would be that big of a game changer to be interim coach. That also provides AD cover to pursue his coach these next 2 months before the hiring season hits full motion. Everyone who fears Riley is back next year can throw that concern out the window. There's no way an AD is coming into a situation where football is the only program that matters and not select his guy to peg his success on. As has been discussed, his success 100% hinges on what happens with this football team over the length of his term, there is nooooooooooo way he's hitching his judgement of success to someone the previous AD brought in and was subsequently fired over.
  2. Yeah, no one is surprised bro. Pretty sure everyone expected this. What are you referring to?
  3. That would be phenomenal if we get this approved. Extra year of eligibility plus there's no use trotting him back out there this season on a 4-8 squad
  4. LOLZ, me thinks honorable mention is a little too much credit. Langs has career positional coach written all over him. Not sure what program is going to hand the keys over to a guy who's never shown the ability to have a sound gameplan for all 4 quarters, minimal in-game adjustments and a clear preference to run his system regardless of players available instead of putting his players in the best position for success.
  5. I'll take a risky move with high ceiling and potentially have it blow up in our face as opposed to a retread whos a career 500 coach. I get the skepticism with the frost love since it seems like we're only considering him because of his tied to Nebraska but I assure you, many other big time programs have Frost on their radar based off what he's put together in his very short stint as the HC. We need to have a complete search to get the right candidate- we shouldn't hire Frost simply because he's a Husker guy but we also shouldn't rule him out either because he's a husker guy... if that makes sense. F, my mind is muddled after yet another dud....
  6. I actually thought it was hilarious... hilariously sad because its true...
  7. Bro, wisconsin just ran the same play 24 straight times and gained an average of 8 yards per play since we tied the game. You're right, we weren't supposed to win the game but this is just pitiful. At home, all the momentum and energy after that pick six and we sit in pass f'n coverage against a qb who sucks. The ineptitude of this staff, from top to bottom come game day truly knows no end.
  8. Probably, but im fairly confident Diaco will find a scheme to limit you to no more than 150 yards, maybe 175 if you're lucky...
  9. Hmmm, that national perception sounds a helluva lot like the in state perception as well. I'm not surprised to see this at all- if Wisconsin hands it to us would any one be shocked to see the Ohio State line approach 15+ status? I certainly would not
  10. I hope Riley realizes, for his own future here, he needs to cut ties with a few more crappy oregon state holdovers on the staff... Cav being first in line. As I mentioned in the NIU post, the strength of that defense was the secondary, we held a near 50 lb average advantage on the line, that had run the ball and, at the very minimum, serviceable pass protection written all over it yet we see that crap on display.
  11. Why does every single one of these threads turn into a Bo vs. Riley. You know its completely possible both crowds are right- Bo simply needed to go for both on the field performance, on the field/off the field performance (sideline tirades and looking like a buffoon) and off the field performance (excuses, recordings, etc.). Just because Riley is sucking wind right and trending in the direction he needs to kick rocks, doesnt all of a sudden make Bo some saint that would have taken us to the promise land. Also, before I get called out- i was ecstatic to see the Bo tenure end and optimistically pissed off when we hired Riley which has now transitioned to this guy can get the hell out of town after another showing like this past weekend. Can't we all be friends?
  12. Not to nit pick this statement but I bolded the comment above as SE put himself in this situation with his 1 man recruitment team, of himself. He tied his wagons to this horse and its dragging him straight into the river. Had he had a more respectable, open and transparent recruitment team and process behind him, I guarantee he wouldn't be catching as much flack as he is now. Your pivot point as to where we would go if we fired SE is a great point and valid. But frankly, I put more trust in an unknown then letting SE get another crack at this given how crappy his last search attempt was.
  13. hmmmmm, sounds a helluva lot alike another Big Ten west school, who happens to wear red and white and proven to have consistent success with this approach. I really don't understand how any fan can defend Langs. He was overhyped and hasn't proven a thing since he arrived. Literally, the fact Eli Manning improved his passing accuracy 1 year gave this fool way too much credit and, in my opinion, view his performance as a total downgrade from Tim Beck. For a staff that has this amount of experience, both in college and football, they display a total lack of ability to put their players in a position to succeed. Knowing NIU's strength on defense is the secondary, we should have been able to easily put up 21+ points by simply running the ball. Tho to give Langs some credit, our offense did post up plus 21+, we just happened to give the guys in white 14. Someone wake me up when this staff gets a damn pulse, I don't expect it to happen anytime soon....
  14. Well, if Ralph Russo said it, it must be true. Carries a lot of weight in the football landscape; was waiting for him to chime in.
  15. I'd be content simply seeing the defense show up for the game. Seems as if we left them in Lincoln last week and they didn't get the memo the season started 2 weeks ago.
  16. You mind a week by week breakdown of this prediction? Interested who you had as for sure losses above Oregon besides OSU, PSU, Wisc
  17. THIS THIS THIS X 100. Tho I do think the 3-4 can work, if we get more athletes at the outside LB and an edge rusher. But to think our staff found some magical formula to switch the script in the 2nd half is just incorrect. Oregon coulda gone for 75 had they went with the same gameplan as the first.. if Royce didn't fumble in the 4th, which he rarely fumbles, this is a 14 point game and we never get the ball back
  18. I learned that Diaco can go pound sand and we're giving this coaching staff way too much credit for the 2nd half turnaround. We couldn't stop the pass, again. Oregon threw it 25 times in the first half and 8 in the second. We stopped the run all day, if you wanna give credit to the coaching staff- write willie taggart a thank you note. usually I'd give a new coach who switches up the scheme a season to adjust but you don't help your own cause when you come into town acting a big game, only to be embarrassed and not own up to it you can get away with no pass rush, you can get away with poor coverage, you simply cannot have both and that's been the story for the past 5 years. despite both teams not being ranked, this was a marquee game and I could not honestly tell you the last time we actually showed up to play at kick off in one of these games. were all grasping for straws here and need to realize that a career 500 coach in his mid 60s is not going to bring us to a consistent level of relevance much less one year of a magical run
  19. On a loosely related note, is there a forum on this site for tickets? 3 people in our group had to cancel travel plans and will be putting their tickets on Stubhub today. Any one on here thinking of a last second trip to Eugene and in need of tickets? They're in a pretty good spot- section 22, row 50, seats 18-20. Apologies in advance if this is not the right place to post this! Selling at cost for $137
  20. Get off your high horse. If you want Nebraska to be more assertive in how they are being treated, they should be showing this more so on the field and not getting their feelings hurt on a slick marketing ad
  21. Going from 5 and 7 to 9 and 3 is meaningless. There was no viable excuse for 5 and 7 last year.None. This program is still behind where they were in 2014. Nowhere did I suggest 5-7 was acceptable. And how exactly is this program behind where it was in 2014? In 2014 we finished 9-3 with one of the best RB's in school history. We dropped a close road game to Sparty, got embarassed by Wisconsin and lost a headscratcher to Minnesota. I would say we are exactly on par with 2014. The amount of embarrassing losses the last 2 years disagree with you. Well, seeing how the 2014 squad was no different than 2013, 2012, 2011, etc you can actually look further back to find many embarrassing losses if you put in the effort for a 2 second google search. I seem to remember a team or two in the near distant past who absolutely no showed against Iowa and the only memory is a certain coach coming within a few inches of nailing a ref with his hat while throwing a fit.
  22. Curious as to why it was ridiculously humiliating. We got all the way to the top 10 and lost to 3 teams that any reasonable fan would expect to lose to prior to the season kicking off. We didn't have a solid/consistent RB1, receiving/TEs hit by injuries, along with the O Line that wasn't expected to be spectacular to begin with. Were there some disappointing losses? Sure. But ridiculously humiliating is pretty harsh seeing how NO ONE was expecting this team to be a playoff/conference contender.
  23. That stat/argument from 538 is a bit flawed in terms of making the claim that team X in a given year is the greatest ever as I believe the data is a running rating spanning years. So while the Bama rating may have exceeded Nebraska from 95- that's probably more attributed to the fact that Bama has consistently been in top 3-5 for the past 8 years straight. The fact that 01 Miami is rated so low backs this up even further as that team was dominant but they did not have a run this long (similar to USC in mid 00s) that would have boosted a team up that significantly overtime.
