  1. Actually the opposite, we play everybody like they're an equal and we're afraid of them....maybe a Riley trademark.
  2. Every one. I blame the Yeezus shoes. I blame everything...the stupid uniforms, the media hype, the dopey coaches, the inept players. the sh**ty field.
  3. We had two threads on it....what are you talking about?
  4. Best part of the 1st Qtr..... When they showed the cute cheerleaders at the end. We are NOT a good team. Pathetic so far and expecting a buttwhooping when we play the big boys.
  5. I need to see a good lead and low men on the depth chart getting on the field. I'd also like to see great communication on the defensive side.
  6. The uniforms look fine but I don't want the Cornhuskers to be in all white EVER.
  7. I heard they were gonna switch to the jello field and they've been practicing in overshoes.
  8. I'll be happy if they just play the way they're capable of playing. The wins and rankings will be there if they just stay focused and don't beat themselves. They need to look at what opponents are doing to other teams and decide between themselves how they're gonna handle it if it happens to them. The coaches can't play for them.
  9. After talking to a couple guys about the OTHER boneheaded play... The backwards pass... I decided that it was nothing more than a simple swing pass to the RB that pro QBs throw 30 times before lunch. We should be able to do those routinely without screwing it up if we hope to beat any good teams. BobDog shouldn't get beat up every time he calls an ordinary play.
  10. What exactly have we accomplished this week? Does anybody know what's going on down there?!!!
  11. Finding that Friday is part Tamarian has made it much easier for me to see where he's going. I thought about my speculation that he didn't gameplan for all the scrambles, but then I thought maybe they DID decide that with all the high flying ducks they'd have to pick their poison and that poison was the QB's feet? Now I doubt he ever envisioned from the castle veranda that the average Duck QB would be skipping around like an Irish lad on a crisp spring morn and probably thought our men would choose to dogpile this guy before he got 30 yards upfield. Thus the containment critique. To me the King's shown vast improvement. There aren't too many more upcoming teams that pose this threat and for those that do, alternating spies or a delay-blitzing MLB might be enough to shut it down. The secondary played like the first game was a setup ,with tight and smart coverage.... Really looked sharp considering O's potential.
  12. The entire first quarter they were mugging our receivers and I was wondering if the refs would ever call it. They seem to think grabbing and holding are an ordinary part of the game.
  13. My son who is all into fitness said he didn't "hydrate" properly, that you have to start two days early. I thought it was more a matter of Tommy being on the field every offensive down while the other players shuffle in and out. While a lot of guys like me would like him to run 20 yards every play, I agree that we need to do whatever it takes to keep him healthy and not prone to injuries and mistakes.
  14. Northwestern is terrible......they haven't lived up to expectations..........they're 1-2 against teams they should've beat. We, on the other hand, are 3-0 beating a ranked Oregon team and handling the other two teams pretty easily. We'll probably be 7-0 going into the Wisconsin game because in my head that's how it looks on paper. Nothing could possibly go wrong in the next game or even the three after. We could probably just take the week off and party down. Mark Banker Quote - "I think whoever that defensive player is should shut up and not say anything, and say it in private if he wants to, but don't believe it," the coach said. "It's like one of those things ... You put it in your mouth -- if you taste it, it's one thing. If you swallow it, you'll probably die from it." Bottom line, "You can't worry about that stuff," he said. "Because as soon as you're up, someone's going to lay the wood to you and you're going to be down." http://journalstar.c...b86a2c8d5b.html We're playing on their field......the weather could be bad.....key players could get injured...........it's the first away game.......the flu.....interceptions......penalties......fumbles.........wife makes pie with Colorado peaches causing bad juju.......
  15. It would have to be the quarter pounder for me. Not a fan of Big Mac.
  16. If you can do it, you're brilliant; if you can't, you're a stupid idiot.
  17. Getting the team a 15 yard penalty and getting kicked out of this game and the next.....also not what we're looking for in a player. No matter how much some fans think it's cool, let's just not do it any more than necessary. Spearing guys on the ground......... no, as well.
  18. I would've added that we didn't gameplan to let their average QB run all over the place, that was the choice of our guys on the field who opted to not tackle him in the backfield.
  19. This makes perfect sense to me. Our best McBride defenses had players who stayed focused and didn't get too high or low on themselves. That he can say that in Yogi style is a bonus. I think if we just tweak the pressure on the pass-rush but don't let it boil over, we'll be making some damn good soup just in time for football weather.
  20. Absolutely.......there's a time to lift players up and a time to keep them from getting a big head.
  21. I didn't know our DC was doing Yogiisms?? Of course we don't want our bees losing their stingers. Building them up for the big sting takes time if you don't want them to get burned and lose their confidence.......especially with this radical fanbase that will jump all over you and trash you on 15 kinds of anti-social media if you make a mistake.
  22. There was a time when sports anchors didn't have 3 hour talk shows that they had to fill with trivia and crazy theories. They just showed up, did the pregame, called the game ,and wrapped it up. The long, hyped up back-stories and opinions were reserved for special events like the Olympics or boxing matches .And back then you couldn't even see the boxing matches, for the Ali-Frazier fight I think some artist drew pictures that looked like Mr. Clean fighting H. R. Pufnstuf. That's probably the only reason they had to talk about it so much.
  23. Sounds like the Ducks had a bunch of injuries, but it didn't look like many on our side. Tommy cramping and Newby going out with what looked like a minor leg injury were the only ones I saw. Anyone know the status of Terrell Newby and were there any others? Staying healthy is one of the most important things playing in the Big,.... not easy to do with all the big city giants falling on you.
  24. Just off the top of my head, that backwards pass was his worst decision of the day. He should have thrown it out of bounds because the running back wasn't going anywhere on that play with three defenders there. Other than that, Tommy had a really good day imo. That was a bad play design. Why the RB is running sideways so it has to be a backwards pass I have no clue. Yes, Tommy didn't make a good throw, but it was a bad play design and bad play call at that point in the game. Tommy said after the game he didn't take his drop as far back as he has been taught because he wanted to get the ball out there fast because "they weren't covering him". If he would have, it would have been a forward pass. It wasn't a bad play design, it was bad execution. However, he admitted it and played like a champion. All players make mistakes, not all players carry a team like he did today. That's what it looked like to me.....a simple swing pass that was poorly executed. Was it a good call? Could've been. He could've caught it and went around the end for a TD. Sometimes the defender steps in between and takes it the other way for 6 as well. I guess it's as good as the guys on the field who are running it. There are always a bunch of Woody Coulda Shoulda plays in close games like this one. Tommy made many more good ones than bad and looked a lot like Texas Longhorn QB Vince Young carrying the team on his back.
