  1. No way. Not using a Pre-Season First Team All-American Punt Returner AT Punt Returner would be like Tim Beck hardly utilizing Pieron-El in the offense last season.....it'd be just plain stupid. Agreed, just thought I read on here the other day they would keep him mostly at receiver. I think what you read was that he wouldn't be used as a kick returner.
  2. 40s are only 'overrated' if your players/recruits have bad 40 times. And the converse is true. How often as a football player do you run 40 yards unimpeded? Edit- Unless you're Melvin Gordon playing against Nebraska's defense.
  3. I can't find the highlight, but that 35 yard run TM had against Minnesota was an underrated gem. Limping at the end of the run and had to get pushed out of bounds.
  4. To add to the probable suspension list, if junior DB Kai Nacua is still on the team he'll no doubt be suspended. I don't think he started last year but iirc he had double digit tackles against Cal.
  5. You could argue we're more likely to go 2-2 as well.
  6. Riley is regarded as a QB guru. Beck is regarded as???? Riley makes better qbs. You can use your numbers etc. But the simple fact is Riley has produced more NFL roster QBs at OSU than NU in how many decades???Let's at least be fair. Apparently Beck's good enough to land an OC/QB coaching gig for a team that just won the NC and has the deepest 3-deep at QB I've ever seen. I think we'll have more success under Riley/Langsdorf but I think that comes from them having a more clear vision as what they want the offense to look like and how they want it ran.
  7. I agree with CharlieTuna and BlueInTheFace.
  8. I don't know if this is something that relates that well. You also have teams like Michigan, USC, Florida, and Texass that have always gotten recruits and had a lot of success but in recent years have been on the down slope. I think it's more of a mix along with good coaching.
  9. Somebody should give Harbaugh a snickers if he's so hungry.
  10. Anybody have a count on how many times we've been called the huskies?
  11. It's May. What else is there to talk about besides recruiting? So of course it will be heavily scrutinized. I don't think anybody was crossing the line, just showing concern. Bo's tenure proves just how important the first couple of classes can be.
  12. But has he ever had the depth of talent as this NU roster has in the backfield? That's been a consistent theme coming from Riley. Has had same level of talent individually, but not as a whole. I don't think we can claim to have great depth in the backfield just yet. Sure on paper it looks great, but none of our backs have really proven to be a consistent commodity in a gametime situation.
  13. Running wise O'Brien reminds me of Ganz. Personally I think O'Brien is the better QB prospect.
  14. It's not like Gregory got a Mike Tyson or tear drop on his face. If Gregory had gotten the exact same tattoo before coming to UNL would it have been such a big deal? Let's not act like Gregory's the first guy to get a tattoo of the team he's currently on.
  15. Highlight film was impressive. Saw 247 list he only had 108 rushing attempts last year. Did he have an injury or was he behind some other big name RB?
  16. Would B1G rules even allow it? Aren't we already at the +3 over sign limit?
  17. Didn't Gregory play at around 230?
  18. I think you're forgetting a couple. Idk exact classes they're in but, Santos/Rose-Ivey/Banderas/Newby/Gifford/Young off the top of my head are the scholarship LBs we have currently on campus not including other incoming freshmen.
  19. Riley's record the past 5 seasons is ugly. He has one 9 win season......he also has a 9 loss season. Yikes. Did he give up 1200 rushing yards to one team between two game?....no?
  20. +1 Great point. Jones and Elliot got a lot of praise for Ohio State but they aren't winning the NC without their absolutely dominant line.
  21. So severely lacking on offense at skill positions. This year. They had a WR drafted the previous two years. All American WRs in Wheaton and Cooks.
  22. I could see that, I think it makes sense. We could look at it as that in the future we can expect the Huskers to have 5-8 NFL picks each year. I actually think that's quite possible the next couple of years. Idk how big of classes we have graduating but it seems we have enough potential in some of our players that you at least shoiuld see an uptick in the number of early round picks. Although, I don't think NFL prospects directly correlates to wins. Look at a team like Miami. 7 total picks 3 of them going before any of our players went. Flowers (R1 9O) got handled by Gregory in what I thought was his best game last season, Dorsett (R1 29O) had 2 catches for 48 yds against an undrafted Mitchell and Davie, and Perryman (R2 48O) was made a fool at times by AA.
  23. This shouldn't worry you imo. Football has to be the most team centered sports there is. Sure you have a couple stars that can change a game, but the other 23+ players matter just as much. When you're going toe to toe with the Oregons/Stanfords/USCs/UCLA/ASUs of the world their depth will most times be too much for a team like OSU. Personally, I see this as a good thing for us. When they have to fill their recruiting classes with 2 and 3 stars and still get 5 guys drafted, that has to be a measure of Riley & co.'s ability to develop the players they had.
  24. I think this proves Gregory is a lot smarter guy than people give him credit for. I'm sure he obviously knew he was throwing away any chances at a top 10 or even 1st round pick by being so honest, forthcoming, and asking for what he did. But there's more to life than just football, and it'll be good to know he has a support staff around him put in place to not only help him deal with the football side of life so he doesn't become a bust, but also his off the field life so he can deal with whatever issues he has be it anxiety, depression, or some completely different issue we haven't heard about. Asking for help can be a hard thing to do for an athlete of his caliber. Hopefully it helps him to become the player and man he is fully capable of being.
