  1. I could just see him be a huge asset to recruiting esp on the west coast---and given that will be paying him anyway, why not get something in return? It would not be like he is being retained on the staff
  2. If the decision is to fire Mike Reilly (which is looking very likely) I would absolutely LOVE to see him "resign" and take another job in the Nebraska Athletic Department. I think he is a good man, with a lot to offer the University---just presently not as the head football coach.. I think he could be an amazing recruiting type coordinator. Keep some continuity in the program. Remove any perception of "bad will" towards firing a coach (who may have inherited a messy situation) and just could not get it done in time. Given his past ties with Moos, I think this would be a great move.
  3. Booing at college football players can be a positive thing for them 1. It lets the coaching staff know that the fans are not happy with the on-field performance 2. It prepares the player in the event they are drafted by the Cleveland Browns.
  4. Any chance that Bob is putting out a Vanilla Defense as to not reveal our defensive schemes to Northern Illinois? I am in West Central Florida--in the path of a Cat 5 hurricane and I am looking more forward to that event than this second half.
  5. I like the hire for multiple reasons. I cannot get the thought out of my head..that maybe, just maybe....part of the motivation for making this move is that if he can build the defense back into the vaunted Blackshirts of yesteryear....make the recruiting moves he is capable of,,,LEARN from an experience coach....that perhaps a few year down the road, he would be in a position to takeover the helm as the HC and have a long and successful career here.
  6. In football the object is for the quarterback, also known as the field general, to be on target with his aerial assault, riddling the defense by hitting his receivers with deadly accuracy in spite of the blitz, even if he has to use shotgun. With short bullet passes and long bombs, he marches his troops into enemy territory, balancing this aerial assault with a sustained ground attack that punches holes in the forward wall of the enemy's defensive line.. George Carlin,
  7. It is a very strange season and I think many of us have strange....hard to put a finger on it...sort of feelings. We are sitting on the best record in a very, very long time. Yet, I suspect many of us are bit nervous about being ranked as high as we are--as if we dont deserve it (we do based SOLELY on how rankings are performed--whether we are the 8th best team in the nation is another story) We (as fans) are looking ahead a few weeks whether we want to admit it or not----and we are looking ahead with mixed emotions. I think the big X factor is the injuries--its been awhile since we had this many key players injured at the same time. I look forward to an enjoyable game--dont think that the team will take Purdue lightly and I think we play sharp, game that is well put away early in the second half, I also think Wisky-Iowa is going to be a very tight game.
  8. I learned that I quickly grew sick and tired of the one announcer constantly talking about the "two point conversion" attempts. over and over and over.

  10. Do you think Cross's performance last night and recent games will allow some NFL teams to take a closer look at him and perhaps give him a shot?
  11. Why is Bo Pelini's name continuing to be brought up? What has he done wrong? Is he responsible for all of this brothers actions?
  12. In many of his past performances, Imani did not appear to have the "first fast step" as he often took the handoff at almost a deadstop and then had to take off and run and by then the defense was on him. This past game, he appeared to be getting the hand-offs while he was accelerating quite a bit more and that, plus the o-line play were contributing factors.
  13. If you know something about boxing, you are familiar with the "brawler vs boxer" styles. A brawler can win any fight, including against a much better boxer. (punchers chance) but they will almost always lose to a well disciplined boxer especially in the upper ranks of the sport. Pelini's teams were "brawlers" (only using as an analogy and not comparing toughness or physical style) they were un-disciplined, played on the edge, often used emotion to overcome lack of skill and execution and this was good for at least 9 wins a season, but when they went up against the more skilled, better coached team (boxers) they lost and often badly. I believe that MR is attempting to turn them into boxers. Not an easy task by any means, I dont like what I am seeing, but I believe this could get us back into the upper ranks.
  14. Is is me, or does Coach Riley look a lot like the guy who played the senator from PA in HOUSE OF CARDS?
  15. I want to see a CNBC debate between Sock Puppet and Faux Pelini,
  16. Did SE tell Coach RIley that in order to rebuild the program, he had to first tear it down?
  17. Like many folks, I was puzzled by the hire. It just did not seem a good fit for what we needed at Nebraska. I think SE hired based almost exclusively on a personality-antithesis to Bo (and that he got right) and either ignored or justified all of the shortcomings. Though puzzled, I gave my full support to the new staff, but at this point in time, I cannot think of a single positive silver-lining, ray of hope in what they are doing. Early on, I thought the offense looked a bit "crisper" in their execution, and TA's passing mechanics appeared sharper....but that quickly faded. About the only thing I have is the future of POB and who knows how that will play out. The really sad thing is that the losses do not hurt much anymore.....not like they used to. One line I keep hearing is that firing a first year coach sends a bad message to recruits and potential coaches.....WTF? You mean stating that losing is this fashion is NOT ACCEPTABLE sends the wrong message? I think it send the EXACT type of message that they need to hear.
  18. I live in South Carolina and am tight with a lot of the alums, etc. The rumor (and its just a rumor, but it has legs) is they South Carolina is very, very, very interested in having Joe Moglia take over the program to replace Spurrier. I thought (and expressed my feelings last year) that he would have been a hell of a hire--hire a great staff (lure Frost in as OC/Assistant HC) knowing that Moglia wont be around forever, Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
  19. "Spirit Airlines"........*shudders*.....its like Greyhound with wings.......my advice....drink heavily before during and after the flight,
  20. Papuchis looks like the Kenny character in the Private Parts movie
  21. I see two main issues with the Defense 1. Inability to execute the fundamentals of tackling---its very, very glaring 2. Lack of "Burst Aggression" by the DL........EXCEPT when there is a blitz called...
  22. not complaining about the passing game, but do we ever run crossing routes?
  23. Was that Johnny Stanton next to TM? looks like a linebacker....
