  1. C'mon blackshirts! Let's go hunting for some bear!
  2. I read this article as well. This guy is a real trailblazer. Glad to see someone from "Kickers U" doing so well
  3. I can buy Wilbon not playing on the offense with Newby, Cross and Ozigbo. However, I can't understand why we don't have some plays for him, like a swing pass, outside screen, etc. also, why wasn't he able to return kickoffs?
  4. Kids are softer, but so is society as a whole. Criticism is taboo now. Just look at HuskerMax. It's a mortal sin to call out a player on that board. It's always been and always will be taboo to call out ANYONE personally on a bulletin board. This is a place for discussion...not personal attacks. If you think it's unfair you might want to stop visiting to avoid being frustrated each time. It's think he meant calling out another poster I can't tell if you're serious or not. By that standard, we'd never be able to lament a QB throwing four picks in a game because it would constitute a "personal attack." Literally all we could say is, "Ya know, that Tommy fella seems like a real fine guy and seems to really play hard and fire those guys up," because it would be an "attack" to also point out that his mechanics and decision-making are questionable at times. I mean, what is this, a sitcom in the 1950s?
  5. Posters are behaving like they usually do. That's what's going on here. It's election time and posters are just following in the footsteps of the candidates
  6. who is negative recruiting by saying Riley is 62? Your post insinuates that this is a fact. Or are you just throwing stuff against the wall to see if it will stick?
  7. New first time head coaches at Nebraska in the last 50 years: Tom Osborne - .836 Frank Solich - .753 Bo Pelini - .713 New "experienced" coaches at Nebraska in the last 50 years: Bill Callahan - .551 Mike Riley - .417 Osborne was a longtime asst.Frank was a longtime asst, that failed when he ran out of Oz players Bo won mostly meaningless games Frost is just another risk with more downside right now than promise. MR doesn't even win the meaningless games, and he is your hero. He is not my hero, I just stand up for him and his staff, to the jackasses that think they should be fired after 3 games. The jackassery of some posters here is enormous. We gave Bo 7 years to accomplish nothing and disgrace the University. Riley should get at least 4 years to win or fail. amen RADAR
  8. I'm with you on this. While I don't feel good about a 5-7 season, it is encouraging to know he doessn't blow a gasket when we get in a big game. I feel better with beating MSU TY than getting blown out by Wisky and any other decent team under Voldamort.
  9. He wouldn't have started at Oregon he would have been benched for his poor decision making same at NU if we had any kind of back up. that cupboard is bare. Our #2 is a D2 qb at best. Coaches don't do Tommy any favors with some of their play calling but this loss was all on Tommy. They can't make his decisions for him. No one held a gun to his head and told him to throw to the double/triple covered receivers. The real news is that we need to strap in for next year because both coach and qb return and the dream that POB will be ready is a long shot at best.
  10. I think it's important to not say "they bought in" because it brings to mind it must have been everyone. I think Gerry was probably speaking for some, but definitely not all. It has been pointed out on HB that Gerry was one that was unhappy with Bo being ousted. I think he and a group of like minded others are the ones who were unhappy all year and decided to just go out and play and buy in. You can't tell me that JW has been going through the motions. Same with Dedrick, Tommy, and some others. I like the improvement. Going back to the OP, if you think about it, this team was always going to be a second half team. New coaches, new philosophy, new system, new playbook. It takes time to fully adopt and understand these. It just took longer than expected.
  11. Sounds fair to me, too. But I would like to know when is this "coaching guys up" supposed to start. If I had any say in the matter, it would have started sometime before the Northwestern game. I'd guess this "coaching guys up" thing is an ongoing process and isn't quite like heating up your Stouffer's Mac 'n Cheese for dinner. I'd hazard another guess as well, that this "coaching guys up" thing takes differing amounts of time for each player because we don't all learn at the same pace. I'm not asking for anyone to be fired. But regarding the bolded, no they haven't.... The line looked their best in the wins. Even looked solid against Minnesota. But you can go back to Miami of last year, Fresno State last year, and a handful of other wins (since we are only picking "certain points") to see that this line is the same as it was last year. I might even say less consistent this year, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt because of a new system. True2, I like Riley, I hope he figures whatever he needs to out and is successful. But at the same time, this year's line is what it is: not very good. Hopefully Cavanaugh can figure out why. I agree they're not very good this year, I just said they have looked better at times this season than they ever did last season. I tend to give Ameer Abdullah a lot of credit for much of the statistics and wins last season. It's hard for me to say an offensive line made up of Jake Cotton, Mark Pelini, and Sterup was all that impressive. I'm not asking for anyone to be fired. But regarding the bolded, no they haven't.... However, I don't agree with no rotation on the OL. You have to get the underclassmen game experience in case they are needed due to injury. My biggest complaint (other than the db's) is that there is no mean streak in this team whatsoever. It looks like they are practicing through the games. Where's the fire??
  12. OP...single best post this year! I would add that it is OK to be frustrated, it is OK to be angry. No one likes to come out of the gates 2-4. However, let's keep our heads. Dumping another coach this soon would likely do much more harm that allowing MR to at least get his plan in place and start to see it come to fruition.
  13. Win the big game? Riley might need 20 more years to win another game, period. Cheap shot....low blow...show some class
  14. Sorry, but the author is a self promoting ass...I was right, I was right, you guys suck, I was right. If you throw crap against a wall long enough, you end up being right every once in awhile. My response to the author: get over yourself.
  15. Thank you! I mentioned this in another thread, I thought for sure with them burning his redshirt the coaches would be having a coming out party for him. Again I was let down by this staff. Now we have three sophomore running backs next year...this is a complete mess Thank you! Now we have three sophomore running backs next year...this is a complete mess Actually I think it was JS who wanted to burn it. The coaches talked to him about What that meant for him and he still wanted to do it. Would not surprise me if that we part of the deal for him coming here.

  17. As a sunshine pumper myself I disagree with the op on my killing the program. I will never stop having total belief that we can win each and every game. I will support the players. However, don't confuse that with not holding people accountable. That includes the administration the coaches the players AND THE FANS. I don't agree with some of the play calling. But if you are going to bitch about some plays then don't discount others. The Jan play call was fantastic. Not just because it worked but because it caught them off guard. My main complaint is about the lack of rotating, especially along the line. Our O-line was exhausted in the 4th, right when we should have been shoving wisky down the field. I get the lack of help on the O-line due to injury but where the underclassmen? Are they really that bad that they could not spell for a play or 2 each series? If the trollers (if you can call me a pumper then turn about is fair play) I sit on a sacrifice then I vote Banker. His defense obviously doesn't work. It didn't work at OSU and it isn't working g here. We have just traded a porous d - line for a porous d - backfield. Eichorst needs to force MR to get rid of his friend.
  18. Time to pump some sunshine and drink the kool-aid people!!!! GBR!!
  19. The D did their job this series. Now let's put a hurtin' on 'em! Punish 'em
  20. switched over to the Clemson/Georgia game at half...we are not playing the same game as these two teams...bigger - stronger - faster
  21. bell looks in mid-season form. tough to bring down for a skinny dude
