  1. The ongoing theme of the Frost years has been the inability to develop/ trust RBs and seriously makes me question Helds ability to recognize/ develop talent. Its not like we have recruited slouches either. We have a ton of high school talent in the room that were heavily recruited. I don't know if held can't pick a number one out of fear of hurting the other guys or what the deal is, but lack of RB production or a star rb is completely on him. I mean even Ozogbos year, they literally tried every other back before landing on the guy who was clearly the best out of the gate. And this tryout wasn't done in practice, this was done in games. How many times have we seen an rb have a breakout game then disappear? Held need to learn to pick a guy and stick with him until someone else PROVES they are better week in week out. This musical chairs thing only hinders development of every back in the room.
  2. Disney pissing everyone off https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wsj.com/amp/articles/scarlett-johansson-sues-disney-over-black-widow-streaming-release-11627579278
  3. More pathetic in my view. In this case they were trying to realize profit from a kids signature. Something at the time , said kid couldn't even do. Kid forced to sign autographs for free so that someone else can sell it for a profit sounds well wrong.
  4. I don't think so, if their actions have been detrimental to the future of the BIG 12, they could be liable for the remainder of the contract, plus any damages they have caused. That is if the BIG 12 can be found to have standing in the suit.
  5. Always thought that was weird. East = everything east of the Mississippi. Midwest= everything between the Mississippi and the Rockies. West= everything west of the Rockies. I guess they could call themselves the Mideast, but that's kind of taken.
  6. The best thing about this is that it is the perfect time for colleges to start a wrestling program. With the explosion of women's wrestling you don't have the same title IX concerns as you can start both a mens and womens program.
  7. KUs recent scandals will fit in very well with the BIG. Almost like they should have been here already.
  8. I was told from the minute he won it that he was given the trophy in part to make up for Frasier and Frost getting overlooked. It was as much about the school and history making decade as it was about the player.
  9. You bet. We need a former player, an experienced AD. Someone who knows Nebraska and its passion for football. Someone like Steve Pedersen, I mean Trev Alberts will get the job done right!
  10. That or we need to make it less hard for people to raise a family (financially) and potentially subsidize larger families.
  11. @Enhance My original thread has nothing to do with the new AD but how the teams win/ loss record over the next two years might affect the tenure. That there is a new AD is not even mentioned anywhere in the post for consideration. It really doesn't belong in this thread. Not sure why it was merged.
  12. Whats more. My original thread had nothing to.do.with the new AD but how the teams win/ loss record over the next two years might affect the tenure. That there is a new AD is not even mentioned anywhere in the post for consideration. It really doesn't belong in this thread.
  13. Had an interesting thought over lunch today. I do not believe frost is on the hotseat, this year, but without improvement this year, he may be. I was thinking about his long term prospects of remaining head coach here. And an interesting scenario came to mind. What if Frost goes 9-3 this season, but reverts to a season between 5-7 wins next year. I think his sear would be even hotter following a let down year than it would be if he had 2 consecutive 7-6 seasons. Say both 2 year scenariis had the exact same win/loss record 14-12. I could totally see a breakthrough/letdown combination leading to a coaching change before back to back 7 win seasons. Thoughts???
  14. If they can provide this in real time there is absolutely no reason for a human to still be making calls. Every other sport is taking the human bias out of the game. Let the computers call ball or strike. There is no excuse for this kind of human error at this point
  15. Yup.. let them clear the bases then, holy crap we can throw strikes again. Wtf
  16. How the heck does Nebraska throw 14 balls in a row, no strikes??? Someone slip the ref a grand or 10?
  17. For what it's worth that was written tongue in cheek. That said, the suggestion was to go back to the bowl system, not bcs
  18. If they eye test is all that matters, go back to the bowl system. Worked for years before the BCS and playoff.
  19. Again man, you want to make this about absolutes, it's not. I've worked for some damn good employers that take care of their employees and I've worked for people who would strip their employees of every penny if it meant more in their pocket. It's like how I was raised to see race. There are good and bad people of every race- recognize character, not color. That's true of business owners as well there is good and bad. Unfortunately the bad( by way of treating employees) business owners generally accumulate the most wealth and then end up affecting an outsized portion of the working population. And you're darn right there are business owners that don't want people to have an education there are varying reasons for that that range from the retention rational that was discussed earlier to the idea that those who are educated have been taught bad habits- its easier to start with a blank slate. What's more - for those bad business owners, it's much easier to fleece someone if they are not educated enough to know better.
  20. Because he knows that there are clear and inherent obstacles to getting an education that are compounded by poverty. Don't pay parents a living wage, they aren't able to prioritize their kids education in grade/high school, let alone try to make college work. Kid doesn't see parents invested in his/her education so never takes it seriously themselves, leading to them working jobs that don't pay a living wage. This is why there is a push to defund education systems/ move to charter schools. It guarantees a cheap labor force.
  21. There is a reason its called the cycle of poverty, not the one generation blip.
  22. Not sure how you got $1928 but ok. As I said before., no one is making it on $15 an hour without government assistance, on a single full time job, without lots of overtime. The numbers I used were equal to the town of 800 people I live in. Not Omaha or Lincoln.
