  1. He just has to retire for a few months. Health scare or something to get out of that.
  2. Looks like it was merged into the who is next HC thread. Which is silly imo. It is not like 162 page threads are soooo much more streamlined then a new topic here or there. But alas, not my board I guess.
  3. Every school has boosters.. Nobody else has a sellout streak. It hasn't ended because it hasn't ended. The tickets have been sold, that is literally what that means. It's not called the "sell out streak to any one person with an income level under 100k." We did and did.
  4. Context is key here as I was responding to a post by a person who comes to one game/year telling the 90k in Memorial that they need to continue to show out every week because the program deserves support. I was just pointing out the reality is, many of us who go very regularly have seen plenty of crap football over the past 10 years and don't need to be ordered to continue to waste 56 hours and $2000+ every season by somebody who drops in every now and again and still enjoys it, win or lose. This entire thread is about the sellout streak.. And it WILL be over if we don't trend up soon. We are not obligated to be fans of a messy product. That doesn't make me a better or worse fan than anybody else and that is honestly the last pissing match I would ever care about. I care about the fact that the team I love is bad. Real bad.
  5. “Because he laid out pretty clearly the rebuild he thought necessary for the Nebraska job. Nothing about what he said sounded like a job he ever had, or ever wanted.” The twinkle in his eye, though, said he was excited about the challenge l!
  6. Still could happen. Just needs to change to Jesus Urban tat!
  7. I've been at all of the games in Memorial that we have lost. It's getting old and hard to do. Easy to say support the boys through thick and thin if you haven't been doing it through all of the thin....
  8. One of my all time favorite games! The energy that night was electric. I about came out of the stands to punch a Miami player, that's how horrible they were. This game and the Michigan game last year are the only ones I can think of that felt like the old time great games. 2 games in 20+ years. We need more of them!
  9. This is so true. You’d much rather be the Urbanman Empire if you could.
  10. I’d bet Trev isn’t even sure what he’s thinking at this time. I’m sure it’s a pool of moving parts. If he can lock down, announce, and bring in anybody until after the season anyway. He’d be silly to be any too far along in the search.
  11. Deion has made it pretty clear that he is building something and has a different focus than him and his coaching aspirations. He does not want the NU job as it doesn't align with what he is looking to do. It isn't fair to blame it on some form of old stiff whitism.
  12. Seems odd as there were reports to the complete contrary yesterday.
  13. The boys aren't playing hard for him, though. The team doesn't care. It's likely not Mickey's fault at all, but it is what it is. He won't be our answer as he doesn't yet command respect from the men. And how could he? He's only been with the team for a few months. The interim coaches that have a chance are the long term coordinators that the team starts to believe in more than the failing head coach. We needed that person on the staff.. We don't have that person on the staff. Its a fire.
  14. Fair enough. When you put it that way, I guess I get it. I think Urban presents in a rare situation for sure, but maybe he does want to take over a program built by somebody else and keep it level for a few years until he retires.
  15. He's already remembered somewhat as a has been failure after Jacksonville. We can't know how much that bothers him, but I'm sure it tastes a bit like a poo sandwich every time he wakes up.
  16. I think Urban himself would not be happy taking the Alabama job next year from Saban and winning some more. I obviously don't know for sure... But when it comes to college coaching options, I truly believe Urban wants to put his mark on something again to regenerate the respect he lost after he did what he did at OSU. There aren't very many HUGE programs in disarray to do that in. What I think the question for Urban would be is this... Do I want to coach again or am I happy with the cash I already have combined with the low-key life I can lead with side broadcasting gigs. Because if he wants to put all the work into coaching a major program again, the only program I can think of that would make him "proud" of what he accomplished is NU. He doesn't want to coach Temple and turn it around. He doesn't want to coach a successful team that has been built by another. He doesn't want to take 3m/year from Colorado and make them good. The intrigue is taking NU back to the zenith.. If he can do that, he is legendary. Not only in Nebraska, but also in the eyes of the entire college football world, which, for whatever reason, still is interested in what happens at NU. He can write his name in the history books right alongside Saban as one of the greatest college football coaches ever with this move, something he doesn't have another great path to in any other scenario. Yes, he's proven he's a great college coach.. But there is an echelon only attainable to him if he would win at this. It sounds like he is more interested in that prospect than I ever would have thought, the fact that he EVEN entered the chat speaks volumes.. I certainly hope we don't f it up on our end.
  17. He values winning. Me too. But seriously.. I am as die hard Husker fan as there is. In fact, I am embarrassed to say that due to the current product on the field, it will ruin my fall/winter. One of the few happiness' I have in life is following all things Husker, but in particular football. I do not plan to watch much more this season. I can't detach enough to handle it without completely walking away for a bit. It's like and ex you want to still be friends with but it just won't work. If I am at this point, I'd bet 75+% of the fanbase is as well. And that is a fanbase that has been hemorrhaging followers for years. The department needs to put a good product on the field for sure, but each week that passes without an injection of hope will cost the program and state of Nebraska millions of dollars. Urban checks a hell of a lot of boxes, more than likely anybody else will. If he's talking, you talk back.. And you talk with your big boy pants on with a blue ink pen in the pocket.
  18. Nope.. That is where you are wrong. In a few years we would be coming off a top 10 ranking and a Huge Big 10 title win against OSU with a juicy New Years Bowl matchup. And ya, Urbs may leave us hanging there for sure.. It's even likely that he will, he's 63 after all. But I'd FAR rather be hanging there, looking to make a real hire of a talented coach that would no longer question if it can be done here nor would be put off by the amount of effort it would take to get to that level. Beggars can't be choosers when it comes to head coaches... And let me tell you, as we sit right here right now.. There are NO LARGER BEGGARS in all of college football than NU is.
  19. I feel like NU should approach Scott Frost and inquire as to his interest in becoming a large program booster. With his newfound wealth, he seems an ideal candidate to step up to the plate and help us bring in a heavy hitter coach. Who are we sending to ask?
  20. Hard to say if Adrian or NU is more kryptonite for wins.
  21. Anybody know where Urban is dining this evening? I am going to head down there and tell him that I don't think he is a good enough coach to turn it around here.
