These coaches suck!!! Perdue is not Ohio State but the way NU is being coached and playing sure makes 3-9 (sounds funny for from 9-3 to 3-9) more realistic. Do any of you truly believe NU is this bad of a team or talent? the cupboard was not bare when Bo was fired, so why do these guys look like Oregon State has played the last 10 years.. or wait we have the nicest coach in America now.. isn't he the one who lead that squad then? seeing a pattern yet?

Should have option C, go from 9-10 wins a year to 5 wins on average for 5 years and be regularly out coached. Love to be wrong as we have Riley for at least two more years.. don't know if NU fans can take a mediocre coach who career record suggests he's more likely to win 5-6 games a year. Note: Riley was at OSU long before OR got rolling, his record didn't change much.. its a hollow argument to point to last 6 years and say he couldn't compete with rich OR...

Lets hope Riley has an epiphany and learns how to win. his coaching history doesn't support that notion however. Wonder if he's enjoying his one last adventure....

it is very probable now that with the current staff and direction this team is moving, the home sell out streak is now on upset alert... It could happen near the end of the season. To keep my BP down, I didn't watch todays game... it is the first time in over 30 years I have not made time to watch NU play... It was more rewarding to clean my garage... Thanks Mike.. you made this all possible. Bo still needed to go, but I gave Shawn too much credit.. thought he would hire a competent winning coach.. NOT!!!!

Pearlman needs to be fired first. he's the guy who hired Pederson and Eichorst and then expecting Tom to fix his blunders. Problem is Tom probably wont take the job this time. Harvey Pearlman is the one to be canned...

1948. This (from what I can tell) is the last time NU started a season 2-4.. With Riley and Co. the records just keep on falling... Even Callahan was better than this.

It seems many on this board are complete moroons I do my best to educate the weak of mind and I will try again here. Pay attention for those that need to. Class is in session. So lets take the premise that no one player can lose a game. Its a bulls#!t idea, but lets play along. If a player can't lose a game, then conversely,a player can't win a game. So here we go. A basketball player that hits a buzzer beater did not win the game. A baseball player that hits a walkoff homerun did not win the game. A punt returner that runs one all the way back on the final possession did not win the game. A runningback that makes a fantastic run, breaking tackles and scoring the final touchdown of a tied game did not win it. A defensive back that makes an interception to save a td that would have lost the lead in the final seconds did not win the game. I could go on and on but Moroons sometimes have a hard time with school. So, a receiver that drops a soft pass in his hand in the endzone on the final play did not lose the game. A running back that fumbles going into the endzone for a game winning score did not lose the game. A kicker that misses an extra point (Texas) can not lose a game. A Qb that throws and interception when he could have thrown it away can not lose a game. A basketball player that has a turnover while driving for a game winning layup can not lose a game. Players lose games all the time, in the pro's it gets them benched or cut and can cost them millions of dollars. I've done all I can here, hope that helps. Lol. I think you had better keep the name calling to a minimum, since you have displayed that you have no idea how team sports work. What is the old saying, "it's better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt," or something to that effect. But by all means, keep throwing players under the bus. Stay classy. I knew you were one of those that never paid attention in class. You should really read it again, you might learn something and I would give you extra credit. it must be a pesky problem when reality always gets in the way of your facts...

Both scenarios are failures. We should be better. TRUE!! So TRUE!!!

I could handle the losing if, the coach's were not being out coached game in and game out. this goes to play calling, clock management etc. I am interested to see how the coaches do in recruiting. I am sure other coaches that are in on the same players we are, are using the caliber of play we've seen against us.

the current defensive staff's statistics are actually far worse then Cosgrove's. How was that possible? Tommy with his inconsistency and all still makes these offensive coaches look better then they are. I am not happy that Riley threw Tommy under the bus over that third down play. If he only wanted to run the ball, call a trap play or jet sweep. don't blame the kid for your mistakes as a coach. Wise up! Riley/Langsdorf called a Qb bootleg sweep, the next safest play in football next to a kneel down in victory formation. Tommy mucked it up. It is just that simple. He falls down and the game is over. It was the correct call for the situation. then he should have been told to just fall down... BTW, that one play call wasn't the reason we lost, it was a whole games worth of bad calls and a staff being out coached (again).

I think the long term damage is done, there is no quick fix at this point. No need to can everyone and "Pray" we can find a great coach to come to Lincoln. Bo did well the first few years but got more paranoid as the years rolled by. That said, I would however fire Harvey Pearlman, this all happened by decisions he has made. he should be held accountable.

Ok, this is just a tad off topic, but the tool here is Harvey Pearlman. He is the one who hired Pederson, fired his a$$ then brought in Tom to fix his mess. Then Tom retires, Pearlman (never one to learn from past mistakes) goes out and hires Pederson part II. Pearlman is the one who single-handedly brought down a very proud football program. he is the one that needs to be released from his position at NU.

No, He did what he was hired to do and then overstayed his welcome.

The one thing Callahan did pretty well was recruit. he also did really well when he had two weeks to prepare (the 05 CO game noted above). He had his share of misses but he did bring Mr. Sue to town...

I've never coached at the collegiate level but I do have several years in as baseball/fast pitch softball coach. While I know some of my players liked their previous coach, I have never known one to tank in a game on purpose because of that coach.. The majority of kids that start are very competitive and I don't see tanking sitting well with any. Alex Lewis was pissed when he did the whole "Sorry we suck" stuff it doesn't mean he wasn't doing his best. I would give the kids more credit than that, even if they love their former coach, it is unlikely they will tank the game or only go 70% or something. They may listen to the coach but that is most likely all they would do... JMHO
