  1. Ha, one of the dads of a girl on my daughters volleyball has a long dark beard and he's hispanic. I call him Al Queda. Spittin' image of the stereotypical Muslim terrorist. Nice guy but everytime I see him I do a double take to make sure he isn't wearing a bomb vest.
  2. Upright freezer question; Does anybody know if the newere frost-free freezers last as long as the more conventional manual defrost (coils in the shelves) type?

Coils on the shelves. Not frost-free, but there's next to no frost buildup.

I'm leaning towards that style also. The infrequent defrosting really isn't that bad. Heck, if the new one lasts half as long as my last one, I'll be happy (and dead by then probably).

BTW, I'm pretty sure most of them are made by one company. Many of them are identical, even using the same promo pics. Frigidaire and Kenmore....exact same even tho they claim slightly different capacity. Just an FYI for your Thursday reading pleasure.

  3. Not that anybody should care what I think but I'm pretty impressed with the manner in which MRI, Brandon Marshall of the Broncos and a few others have gone about their protests. Their approach has been one of still maintaining respect and expressing their concerns without demeaning police officers. Kaepernick, on the other hand, and some others have not gone about it in the right way IMO. Anyway, it makes a difference in my eyes.
  4. Good article on Jano. Gotta love that fullback attitude. NU has been blessed with some of the best to ever play the game and I love having him on the Broncos.
  5. It's getting pretty bad out there guise. I heard they clowned a sheep and they're trying to clown humans. Be careful.

Sheep clowns? I just can't imagine them jumping over a fence with those big clown shoes. Will never fall to sleep now.

  6. Are you sure you didn't watch it? You have the complete and concise summary listed here. You would not learn one more thing by actually watching it. Except maybe that the moderator was pretty hot and Kaine always has a smug smirk on his face.
  7. Is this about policy, or ... No. How could it be? Policy of any kind is so far off the map this election cycle it isn't even a consideration. PM me if someone involved in this election actually talks about what their plan is to help this country. Don't worry, I won't hold my breath.
  8. F#cking Clowns.......amirite?

  9. IMO, Pence is the only reasonable adult involved in this election. I just cannot stand Kaine. I don't care for Hillary or Trump either but Kaine makes me want to punch the TV. What a hyperactive whiny little bitch. Wish somebody would wipe that smirk off his face. He couldn't go 5 seconds without interrupting with a rehearsed talking point, usually one that had nothing to do with the topic at hand. This whole election is the absolute worst ever. I thought I was taking the only reasonable road in supporting Johnson and it turns out he's a flake too. Not sure that guy could name a state capital outside of New Mexico. Pence is the only one worth half a turd in this whole deal. These are supposedly our best and brightest? What did we do to deserve this? A bad f#cking joke is what it is. Makes the storyline of Designated Survivor seem like the best possible outcome.
  10. I don't know about the other locations but in Greeley, CO they traced it back to social media rumors. There were no actual clown sightings. Lots of kids stayed home from school last Thursday because of the threat rumors. Police traced it back to a 15 year old girl from one of the local high schools. She got kicked out of school and is in big legal trouble.
  11. IDK, Bud and Coors still have yuge market share. That tells me there is plenty of room left for good beer. Probably wouldn't get rich but I sure think you could make a living at it in the right area. I too have thought about this. May still one day do a combination microbrewery and barbeque place. Can't think of anything better than smoking meat and making beer for a living. Problem is, the business end of it doesn't seem too appealing but brew master or pitmaster....hell yeah.
  12. I don't know how to answer. I was positive, then skeptical, then negative, came back to positive but skeptical but generally more pleased. It's not so much Riley for me. I've been pretty happy with him. I still have some lingering doubts about our special teams (Read), Banker D, and Langs (although Langs seems to be calling a much better game so far this year....and Banker has also to some extent). If the bend but don't break, stop the run at the expense of giving up passing yards type defense gets the job done, then I'm okay with it. Still annoyed that we don't generate more pressure more often but hey, I prefer an aggressive defense. And I'll be happy with Langs and Riley as long as when we get in a tough game they don't panic and totally abandon the run when it has been working like happened so many times last year. That is going to take quite a few more games to get my trust back. I had my doubts last year but have seen some signs this year that they may be getting there. MY other big complaint has been clock management and grinding it out on the ground when it makes sense. That problem doesn't seem to have raised it's ugly head this year. I guess right now I'm positive, still skeptical and patient and overall pretty pleased.
  13. My advice is; Spouses and SO's are going to get po'd at you most of the time anyway (it's like their purpose in life...) So, I say give them good reason to be po'd once in awhile. Lord knows they'll get there without good reason plenty so might as well earn the wrath at least some of the time. This provides much needed balance to the relationship. However, I wouldn't suggest the soiled rubber route, especially for those who are married.
  14. IDK, I would think Nebraska fans would be happy to be ranked as high as possible at any point in time, whether or not an argument can be made that we may be ranked too high. Assuming we will eventually lose a game(s), doesn't the higher ranking now help prevent us from tumbling as far down the ranks later? I think it would. Isn't one of the goals to be ranked as high as possible at the end of the season? I think it is. So, it leaves me scratching my head why some would seem happier if we were currently ranked worse but more accurately, somewhere between 13 and infinity. It's one thing to posit that we should be say #22, it's another to go on and on about how we are really only a 20+ team and act like it would be better if only these rankings were correct. IMO, the rankings will be correct, regardless, at the end of the season. Let's take whatever breaks we can, when we can.
  15. Actually, we're not somewhere between 10 and 25. We are #12. You are right though, we have games left to be played.
  16. Can somebody that has been bemoaning that we are over rated please explain to me the downside if in fact we may be over rated at #12. I don't understand all this complaining at all. I've seen some claim that we should only be in the 20's and maybe not even top 25. Do us all a favor and list the teams you would place ahead of the Huskers at this point in time. It's like people have forgotten what it's like to be relevant and ranked. Our current rank isn't a guessing game as to what might happen when we play Wisconsin or Ohio State. It is based on what has happened so far this season. Results of future games can be accounted for AFTER they are actually played and in the books.
  17. Week 6 picks Getting in early before the lines get worse. Minnesota +2 Houston -18 Washington -8.5
  18. I didn't do any better fellas, 0-3 this week. I didn't really like any of the games either but wasn't terribly uncomfortable with being forced to pick 3. Figured 1 or 2 would end up okay. Shows ya what I know. 9-6 overall, +$240
  19. This is so wrong I don't have the words. All this shows is your complete lack of understanding about Pro life. While I'm sure there are those who are simply anti-abortion, the heart of the efforts involves all of the things you just flatly denied. The Catholic churchs I regularly go to are constantly asking for donations and volunteers for the Pregnancy Resource center, aid for unwed mothers, teen sex education, etc. Most reasonable people realize there is more involved than just being anti-abortion. Seems we always have a baby bottle in our house to collect our change for the Pregnancy Resource center. I do disagree with the church on the use of contraceptives and wish they would change their stance on that. But you need to quit spreading falsehoods about a movement that you apparently have little knowledge of. You're using only anecdotal evidence, although zoogs hasn't used any yet. My anecdotal evidence is any time I hear about people being against sex education it's from Christians who say it's as easy as telling kids "don't have sex," which is a completely unreasonable solution. It's also Christians who are generally against letting gays adopt kids, which might help with the situation. For the record I'm Christian and pro-life but I disagree with the Republican platform about every other thing related to sex and pregnancy and poverty and children. How is pointing out that many Pro life people, groups and churchs do much more than simply being against abortion only providing anecdotal evidence? Nobody has to settle for only my word on it. It's a fact and can be verified. I agree that many Christians don't consider the surrounding issues and only offer up simplistic half solutions like "just abstain" or "outlaw abortion" but it is false to flat out claim that Pro life does not do more than that.

Was about to post something like this. Just awful.

Was in a 10-7 game last night in HS and you really learn to love good defense. Can't stand offense only anymore. Part of it is my disgust of watching it every week with Oregon too....

We (I anyway) have complained about Banker D and even Bo's run defense but damn, compared to much of CFB defense....it's like there is no thought about it at all.

Bend but don't break (or don't break too often), or stopping only the run OR the pass (like it has to be one or the other)? Screw that. I say crush the other team with aggressive defense and you'll always be in the hunt.

  22. Agreed, boomer sooner is way over played. Unfortunately, I think our very own Cornhusker band over plays our song too. I find it annoying when they do it when nothing good has just happened. Seems they do it every 5 minutes regardless (so about a 30% as much as OU).
  23. Agreed. I went to a game there back in 90's (I think when Frost was playing, might have been Crouch...I'm getting old and can't remember sh#t) and my ears literally hurt from the noise and most of it was that damn siren. Little side story- Went out there with a bunch of brother in laws. Of course like good Husker fans we spotted up at a bar close to the stadium by about 9:00 in the morning and commenced to drinking. The place basically filled up with Husker fans before 10. Well here come all the Huskie fans about 11:00 to 11:30.... Never seen so many people look so distraught and clueless as to where to go next. Yeah it was some big Huskie hangout and we turned it red. No room for the regulars. Ha.
