  1. This thread is starting to feel like a group chat full of high schoolers... Scratch that. This BOARD is beginning to feel like a group chat full of high schoolers.
  2. dang. I just got a B+ in freshman soc and I was pissed about that grade. I agree though, I had little interest in the class.
  3. I'm not going to post any spoilers or anything specific about the movie. I'm just here to say that it was fricken amazing. Carry on.
  4. One man's given gift is another man's acquired skill, I guess. The difference being if we all agree it is a "given gift" then it excuses a lot of people from having to make a considerable effort. Like saying "Computers hate me!" or "I can't do math!" or "I can't swim because I sink like a rock!" Nope. Look at his high school highlight reel. He already had the "gift" and he knew it. He knew he could "swim" (run with football). He was the very definition of a gifted athlete. He knew had a gift, but he worked very hard in the weight room and film room to become the rb he was his junior and senior year.
  5. Expound, please. What physical talent vaulted Ameer over so many other players? I say he outworked them and outlearned them.Don't forget Ameer's incredibly strong legs. He was only 5'9 198, yet he was able to run over people if they didn't have the right tackle form. If you watch him run and make all of the cuts he had, you notice how low he gets. He doesn't bend at the waist, he bends at his hips which lowers your center of gravity, gives you more balance, and allows you to explode out of that stance with more power. It's the sign of a squatter in the weight room. Also this doesn't discredit your comment either. By doing this he had to work on technique religiously until it became muscle memory and second nature, which meant that he had to allow himself to learn what the proper technique was and then work hard at being as close to perfect at it as possible. His ability to squat and focus on technique is what made him better than his teammates and was the reason he was on the field. I wont forget to mention how rigorously Abdullah watched film, the guy could see a gaping hole that looked blocked to everyone else. Anyways, when he makes a cut, he still moves forward as well which is what Newby struggles so much with. Newby makes a cut that might make a guy miss, but he has so much wasted movement that he doesn't end up moving forward as he's making his cut and gives the defenders time to recover. It's a sign that his technique isnt as sound and ultimately the level of his strength and technique isn't as high as what Abdullah's was.
  6. We need to figure out some way that fans can butcher Carriker's name. Corriker? Carrikter? Carrikers? Seems to be a requirement for the second some of the fan base turns on them nowadays, eh? In relation to the OP, Carriker has almost no qualifications to coach outside of being a former player. I'd like to see him go somewhere as an assistant (either high school or low-level college ranks) and see what he can do there if coaching is in his future. Being a former player gives you a no guarantee of being a good coach, just as not having played doesn't mean you'll be a bad coach. why not try him as a grad assistant?
  7. you should actually do that. The results of your findings would probably be interesting.
  8. tonight's ufc event was freakin awesome too
  9. Didn't Callahan V.1 show that a pass happy, West coast style offense not fit I Lincoln? Looks like Callahan V.2 is doubling down on the stupid. It wasn't Callahan's offense that got him fired. One of the great fallacies is that Callahan ran an effective offense. More times than not, it was offensive failures that led to defensive blow ups. Sound familiar? Look at the Purdue game this year. Do you carry a little red mao book too? Go back and look at the stats from the Callahan years and early Bo years. It was the defense stupid....Incorrect. Everything was wrong with Callahan V.1. Remember USC? CM is 100% correct. It's funny how those that militantly defend Callahan V.2 also seem to wax nostalgic about Billy C.V.1. Guess you arent interested in facts. shrugs. All you have to do is look. Callahan's offense was non-existent against anyone with a pulse. All you have to do is look. 1/8 of the points his offense scored in '07 were in the last five minutes of games where he was behind by three TDs or more.1/8 of 60 minutes is 7.5 minutes. Wouldn't it make sense if throughout the season 1/8 of his points were scored with about 5 minutes or so left if he had a crappy defense to support the offense?
  10. Yeah, that's gotta be it!Or maybe it's after being spoiled for 3 straight great running backs that the next guy isn't quite as good and we are in the midst of a coaching change. But no, it has to be Riley and his awful coaching. God your act is tired. Backs under RB or now? AA spoke highly of Newby. When Newby was coached by Brown...... If some of the new staff are additions, then one must also see the possibility that some are subtractions....That's not the reasoning behind his post. It's simply to piss all over thr staff again. I don't think you need to be posting what my, or anyone else's reasoning is. We had a string of success at the position, then SUDDENLY it's not there. IRONICALLY it was during a coaching change and our running game has received criticism all year long. Perhaps......and note the word PERHAPS......the coaching "might" have something to do with it. Newby had 1 less rushing yard in his sophomore year than he did his freshman year, despite have 13 more carries. He wasn't that great under the previous staff, either.
  11. Not a huge fan of Baylor but I think it would have made a difference if they had there starting qb. Their last game they had a WR playing qb b/c the 3rd string got hurt that game.the worst part is that their 2 minute offense vs. Texas was run plays... That worked just as effectively vs Texas as passing would have with their regular starter. Had they not had a couple big penalties at the end, they might have been able to score a TD by just running it. That also goes to show how terrible Texas was on defense (they had mucho injuries too).
  12. And bring in his "throw it all over the yard, PAC 12 basketball offense"???? This is freaking hilarious........ People here bitch about throwing it to much and you want the Frost offense????? Of course it is Frost, so he will do no wrong. LOL!!!!Oregon throws the ball less than Riley. This is a known fact. Nebraska threw it 100 more times than Oregon... That was noted above and they did run about 137 more plays for the season also. That would skew things a bit don't you think?Wait so running a hurry up offense is the same as passing it a ton? LOL
  13. Based on how this season went, I think POB could be the answer to all of our passing game problems. Which is probably why Langsdorf will have POB run QB Sneaks/Flops/Bootlegs and the Triple Option next year. Because Langsdorf tailors his play-calling to the resources around him, yo. This made me laugh. Thank you Vector
  14. Didn't Hackenburg finish ahead of Stanton in the final Elite 11 rankings because Stanton struggled in the pressure cooker drill while Hackenburg didn't?
  15. and people wonder why the pac12 and big12 don't want to add them to their conference
  16. with all of the hail mary's that have happened throughout history, why do coaches still choose to only rush 3?
  17. please someone explain why we hired Riley over Frost...
  18. Remember, he is a Pac 12 guy, just like Riley Except Frosty believes in a strong running game. I think our coaches do to if only we had a line and running backs to do it with.we have the running backs and o-line, we just choose to run Newby up the gut instead of having him go outside. Then when it never works, we throw it the rest of the game. Our O-line is barely MAC quality and we do not have a running back that could start for any top 20 team.I'm starting to understand why people say you're only here to troll...
  19. OK fine. Zac Taylor. Any other easy questions? ha Frost as HC. Taylor as OC and coach-in-waiting? After that, Patrick O'Brien. We've already given him the starting QB job, might as well give him HC down the line as well.I think we're on to something here. My oldest son graduates HS in 2025. Definitely going to be starting DE for the Huskers. Just getting that out there now. He's destined to be our future d-coordinator.

  22. Not ironic, infuriating. At the very least had we cohearsed him into staying, he would have had a chance to progress up the BS depth chart they gave us after spring. Had he done so, like I think he was capable of doing, he could have pushed Tommy to better himself. Conpetition breeds success and Fyfe was not competition. Say what you will about him, we could have used an extra arm here this season.Totally agree. When I say ironic I meant so in the most sarcastic connotation possible (it's incredibly hard to read emotion from text so I wasn't expecting anyone to gather that), but I feel like the reason why he did so bad in the spring game was from the fact that he had no motivation to do well and probably had a pretty good idea that he was going to transfer somewhere else anyways.
  23. Just for fun I googled him to try to find footage of him playing for Saddleback. The very first play was a half back screen, literally the exact same play we like to run here in Riley's own offense, and Stanton ran it to perfection. Looked right to look off the defense then looked left and floated it right over the defensive end with the ball floating safetly to the rb, who proceeded to get the first down and more. Kind of ironic.
