  1. Was at the game in the student section walking down the steps towards the exit as it happened. My friend and I were not going to miss the last play but we wanted to get a head start and see the play from closer to the front as we were way up in the back. We went crazy, left and as we were about to drive home a guy needed his car jumped. I helped him out and he gave me 20 bucks. The luck continued on into the night but I won't get into details
  2. This isn't battle of the uniforms These battles can happen but almost always the brand that makes the uniforms is the same for both schools
  3. This is why I am excited about Riley's players especially at the qb spot. He is known for being able to spot talent
  4. This is my personal opinion but I believe they are just recruiting until they fill up. Calvin and Lewis are still probably at the top of our board but until they are committed yout have to keep looking because there are no guarantees
  5. I'm thinking a defensive battle as well. I would set O/U at 40 total points. Is it me or does it just seem like we are going to intercept a pass in every game? I think we will need at least one on Saturday.
  6. Is Carlos Davis good to go?
  7. That doesn't save us from being put against WMU. Remember the best G5 team gets a bowl matchup with one of the big boys. I feel like no team wants to play a Group of 5 in a NY6 bowl. If you lose it definitely hurts more and if you win people shrug it off That being said it very well may happen we play that group of 5 team and I wouldn't be upset about it one bit.
  8. Is he projected at another position besides WR?
  9. and that will come into consideration when teams have a conference crown but right now no one has won their conference That's how I assume they look at it. Right now the 4 best teams looking backward and not thinking at all about what is ahead
  10. I'm asking the same thing. Their best wins are against Auburn and Tennessee, neither of which I think are that good. They got punished by Bama. Top 10 for sure, but not in an initial playoff spot.Auburn is a good team Yes my friend. I mean time will tell but you could argue their resume is nearly identical to Wisconsins
  11. I think we are going to be really, really good next year (combined with the odd year favorable home schedule), and I don't think there is any way that Riley matches Bo's record in his 7 (wasn't it 7? 2008-14?) years. Forget more wins, I can't imagine he even matches it, especially with a 6-spot hung on the board last year. Do people think Riley's record will be better than Bo's? Wow...didn't even think that was a thing. I have posted this before, but I think the offense struggles a lot next year. Unless there is a new crop of linemen that are totally awesome, I don't see how NU replaces so much of offensive production from this year. The defense could be very good/great, even with the loss of Rose-Ivey, Banderas, and Gerry. I think our line will just get better with time. Next year they should be solid. We will have pretty good RB depth, WR corps won't be bad could be pretty good but we won't have anot uber talented tight end. QB will be the question but if we can get consistently decent play we should be pretty good

  13. Really surprised to see a&m over Washington. I know they beat Auburn but that's interesting.
  14. We seem to be much better at an 8 minute drill
  15. We should be able to create similar problems for this offense as the ones they have been facing the last few weeks. That being said OSU could come out and put together a really good offensive outing
  16. OSU has a top passing D. I think TA will struggle passing. Well at least we are prepared to run an offense that has a struggling pass game
  17. It's hard to tell with how it looks right now but we have routes that come open that would be big gains and we don't execute. Honestly our offense looks terrible at times but ends up scoring pretty well. We had a solid outing against Wisconsin overall when you look at the numbers. Obviously 7 more points would have been ideal and we were a few missed throws away from that. We were probably a few questionable play calls away from that as well but the chemistry is off right now more than the scheme is no good or Langs is a bad coach in my opinion
  18. what do you want him to say? We ran a read option at the end there and it was open around the edge but we just haven't taught Tommy how to make that read well enough?Nothing at all. Or that we need to look at the tape and learn from it. But to get specific like that and blame the QB for 3 out of 4 plays - that's low class. Did he call out Langs at all? Or only players subject to public criticism? he has done his fair share of criticising the play calling and maybe he shouldn't have talked about it with the media but he isn't wrong in saying Tommy makes some poor decisions at times. Improvement can be made in play calling, no doubt. But sometimes it isn't the play calling that sabatoges the play.
  19. does this overall z score not count strength of schedule? Offense doesn't really have a net gain but man our defense is leaps and bounds ahead of last year That's correct. No SOS adjustment was made for the numbers above. I have data in the old spreadsheet printout I was looking at but I used my own method then...such that it wouldn't be apples to apples if I tried to adjust stats now anyway. ok that makes sense! Obviously the Z scores don't tell you everything but this is a great look at how we have been producing and I love the comparison to last year. Great work!!

  21. All coaches fail at times. That doesn't mean they should be subjected to unfair criticisms, especially when it's a backhanded way of knocking our players, for example: 1. this team of players doesn't suck in defeat like other teams that have let games get out of control 2. Pelini is a crappy recruiter, which translates to we have crappy players 3. Pelini poisoned the team, which translates to we have crappy players who are lazy, lack professionalism, are babies and generally are the reason why we stumbled through last season and struggle in wins that should be mostly dominating this season. 4. Pelini didn't recruit the right kind of QB for Riley, which means that despite all of the claims of "multipliness and adaptability," this offense really is stuck with needing a statute-esque pass distributor. We'll see how that plays out, but there's not much history of success with that type of offense in our region. And the list goes on. It's so odd to me. Everyone seems to just accept these saws about how other teams like Wisconsin have more talent or more depth or are less injured, but also ignore that the "objective measures" like recruiting rankings tell a totally different story and how it used to be that injuries were blamed on S&C but now it's just bad luck that the Riley staff has had to deal with. By the way, how many freshman have played this year? Or kids from the 2015 class for that matter? If we are really that untalented and lacking in depth, why haven't any of Riley's recruits emerged? Personally, I don't see that as a problem, because they may be very good yet stuck behind other good players. I just wonder how the player downers reconcile that fact with their biases. Lamar Jackson 2016 Stanley Morgan, Ozigbo, D Young among others playing from 2015 class I hate to get into the game of "he's X coach's player" but both Morgan and Young committed to Pelini's staff. As Urban Meyer recently noted, we are loaded with good players. you asked what freshman and 2015 recruits were playing, I gave you the answer. You didn't ask what Riley recruits were on the field

  23. you missed the slice play and bluff plays on the inside run count and some of those other outside runs would have brought down the YPC which was closer to 30% more successfull than 50%. All in all we had a little more success outside but I wouldn't say a huge amount and you could argue the inside plays were needed for the outside runs to work. That being said we did have a few nice gains on some outside runs as you pointed out and while some others didn't have success, odds are running it 5-7 more times outside would have resulted in probably 2-4 runs of 5 or more yards. They have the Slice and Bluff as Inside Zone plays. You can argue with them if you like. completely misinterpreted how it was broken down I apologize I deleted this original response because I thought I mis-read your statement. You can ignore my first comment in my previous post. I pretty much agree with you. I dont mind running inside as much as we do if we were a bigger threat in the pass game. Even still I'd much prefer closer to 15 outside runs than 5
