  1. Yeah, hard to believe Daniels wouldn’t at least test the waters at this point. It’s possible he doesn’t like what he hears as a potential draft grade and comes back though.
  2. Sounds like the reps he’s looked good with are of the Luke McCaffrey variety so definitely more of a runner.
  3. I felt like Frost was entirely outcoached by Brohm, who had a plan of attack and built confidence in his team finding weaknesses in our pretty stout, full strength defense. Today, I felt like Frost turned the tables and did that against Leonhard. Some weird playcalls still at times, especially in the RZ, which I mostly chalk up to not trusting the OLine, but overall felt like Frost called a really good game and had Wisconsin off balance. I think it would have usually been enough to win except we were missing some key cogs on defense and gave up the dumb KO return TD. A loss is a loss but I’m glad the team still fights at least. Austin Allen is a beast and I can’t wait to see Fidone.
  4. That’s probably the perfect kickoff with good coverage but of course, we do Nebraska things on it instead.
  5. These transition attempts are killing us. They play NBA level fast out on the break. We came out with the right energy and then shot some silly 3 pt attempts and the energy hasn’t been there since.
  6. Down to +8 on DraftKings. Looks like sharps are betting we lose a 1 score game again lol.
  7. Already mentally preparing myself for the conference games where we frustratingly don’t get these same calls and free throw attempts lol.
  8. Andre was awesome that half, we might be losing by double digits if he didn’t come in the game. Getting outscored by 15pts from the 3pt line.
  9. That time of year where keeping an eye on the recruiting offers going out might signify some unexpected attrition. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some at DLine and in the secondary. The portal makes it tricky to keep track of (but also in a good way) since we can still grab players after spring.
  10. I think probably just too much made of an exhibition game. It was nice and fun but ultimately a game that didn’t matter. That said, lots of teams struggling on game 1. They hung with us for a half, let’s see if they can do it for another.
  11. Very fair questions and that’s what Frost and Alberts will have to navigate. But ultimately, money talks and assistants get minimum 2 year guaranteed contracts. I also think a big name OC would view it as a spot where he could get promoted to HC if things go south. Plus, we weren’t good this year and any new assistant will be able to land on their feet by simply throwing us under the bus lol. Would be much more concerned if we had to make changes on defense, where there’s at least a chance we take a step backwards there next year and make an assistant look worse just from that.
  12. I think with Lubick, it makes it hard to hire a quality QB coach if you aren’t also hiring them as OC. So he almost had to go or be demoted.
  13. Sorry for the long post: There’s some speculation that a couple guys might opt to be done for the season in preparation for the draft. In my opinion, at 3-7, this is a good thing and I wouldn’t be mad at them for “quitting” on the season. First off, we want guys to get drafted, that’s good for the program and gives us something to sell in recruiting and helps the brand. Someone draft eligible getting injured in a meaningless game after we are eliminated from bowl season doesn’t help us or them. But if you don’t buy that reasoning, the other important thing is that the coaches desperately need to know what we have for next season. We are planning on hitting the transfer portal hard and we have two games left to find out exactly where and how much help we need for next year. A player opting out eliminates the awkwardness of feeling like you have to play him and it allows us to play a young guy and ensure them that they are the future even if we are planning on bringing in a portal guy to compete for their spot. I’d love nothing more than to beat Wisconsin and Iowa but sitting at 3 wins, we need to work on next year as much as we need to finish out this year. And as we saw against Rutgers with Corcoran, Wisconsin with Ty Robinson, Teddy against NW and Michigan, etc, starting a young guy against a conference foe doesn’t necessarily equate to a certain loss and can give us a ton of excitement about the player going forward. Anyway, just some internet speculation so far, nothing official. Christopherson made it sound like Jojo at the very least.
  14. Definitely not blaming this all on Frost/playcalling but the other thing I’d say: there has been at least one opposing fan on 247 each week before Gameday (besides Purdue because they don’t really have fans on 247) that has gone onto the board begging us not to throw to our monster TEs. And while we’ve definitely done a better job attacking with them this year, sometimes I don’t know why we don’t just spam throws to them over and over until teams prove they can stop it. And it seems they don’t get a lot of targets in the redzone. Some of it is on Martinez and some of it is on the OLine. But there was a breakdown on Hailvarsity I believe that showed we also will shift Allen out to the perimeter sometimes and it’s like, who does that really scare? At best you’re planning for a jump ball situation, which he can definitely win, but you’re also asking an inaccurate passer to make those throws.
  15. Can’t remember if it was a 247 writer or a Rivals writer, but back when Luke transferred, one of them quickly shut down the speculation that Luke may have left because we asked him to change positions. Said Luke was still far and away the #2 QB here and the staff wouldn’t have asked him to be a gadget guy. Sounds like Haarberg does have some real potential though at least.
  16. They were a very good tourney team last year but lost their best player to the draft, a PG who did everything for them. They still have talent and are really well coached though so this is a promising start for us.
