The media was so upset about this because they were ready to tear him up and down to get their little sound bites... 90% of the questions and what they get out of it are garbage to most fans anyways. Nothing he could have said that night would have made any fans feel any better. We will all believe what we want to anyways (see below). They only people who lost in the situation were the media members who had to say- now what? I'm all for feeding the fan base with good info in the off season and during weekly pressers but I would rather not have coaches worried about explaining their game plans before and after each practice and game to all of us. (What my non-coaching, Kool-aid drinking mind believes)- I think our defense has spent the last few weeks more focused on a run stop defense that will benefit the Oregon plan more than anything. I believe we executed or practiced that plan against ArkSt. We adjusted out as necessary- see the 3rd and most of the 4th Q defense. I don't think Diaco wanted to say that or have to explain that because fans would be pissed about us "looking past" ArkSt and how it almost cost us the game. I'm likely way off base but I like the thought of it because it gives me a little more hope for this Saturday's defensive outlook. In any event- GBR

Our fan base is bat sh%$ crazy sometimes. I am convinced we could beat Oregon next week by three touchdowns and someone would have some reason to complain. I have no issue with that but I do wonder why guys enjoy complaining about the team they love so much?

Nebraska didn't look amazing but if you take away a couple of fluke plays, we looked a lot like some other teams out there getting a lot of praise. Ohio State basically lost for 3 quarters to Indiana for example (not sure Indiana could beat ArkSt??). Wisconsin tied with Utah State through 2 quarters, Northwestern had to come from behind in the 4th to beat Nevada, #19 south Florida lost the 1st half to Stony Brook, etc. Many other teams struggled early... If our 4th quarter went differently, we would be just another strong team that took a while to "pull away" from the team we should beat. Maybe I'm just eternally a positive fan but I'm not as negative on this game as the majority of people posting over the last couple days. I see some positive signs and still have some hope. I think the ArkSt QB may end up being the 2nd best QB we go against all year. No denying that our defense has to improve- I just feel we should give them the chance especially since we have so many brand new parts getting broken in. GBR

I predict Indiana will beat Ohio State for 3 quarters... going out on a limb here.

Depth was the biggest factor in last nights game to me. Ohio State looked very beatable through three quarters. Their DBs are suspect... But they will probably get things figured out by the time we see them unfortunately.

Wisconsin at #36 smh... Stars aren't everything I guess

I like Wyoming's chances over Iowa. 31-27 on a fake field goal pass Nebraska wins easily but Lee's hype comes back to reality with 2 int Florida beats a rookie Michigan defense and Harbaugh is ejected- rips shirt off while leaving the field Alabama... is still better than anyone else on opening day. Wins by 24 over FSU

48 hours from kickoff #1... and I honestly have no idea how we will be this year. I would like to think I know a lot about football and generally predict our seasons pretty close. This year, for me, is a complete mystery. The changes, combined with a much tougher schedule, have me avoiding too much koolaid. I'm hoping Saturday night proves to be a blowout that shows us it is all for real.

Seems fishy to me... I wouldn't be surprised if he was being asked to resign and used this crutch to paint it in his favor. As far as the dangers to the game? We let our kids do all kinds of crazy things beyond football. Up to each parent imo. Guessing most of us on here played and are just fine today.

All signs are pointing to a great day. I scouted teal this morning- had 26 come in to my little private pond between 6:30 and 6:45am. Should have a limit of birds early! The plan is to shoot enough teal to be able to serve duck poppers for the Oregon game! Quick recipe- Soak teal breasts in salt water 12-24 hours. Cut green peppers into quarters (about the same size as the teal breasts). Apply cream cheese to the inside of the green pepper slices. Lay the teal breast on the cream cheese. Lay a slice of jalapeno on top of the teal and then wrap in bacon. Slow cook in the smoker until done- game day favorite for years at our place. Especially so while playing the ducks!

I have no problem if 16 guys earned it. Who are we to say how many guys were/are deserving? Congrats to those who made it and good luck to those still trying to earn it!

Hunting teal/doves early Saturday morning and then getting ready for our annual 12 hour fish fry. I am feeding 50-60 people all day long... starting with the Iowa Wyoming game. Can't wait!

Hard to not be excited after hearing everything in the last 24 hours. I do try to Keep in mind the network gets paid to generate views and their opinions are generally positive everywhere they go- But reading between the lines I really do think they were impressed with what they saw.

I think last year will end up being a rare example and not the norm. I think the majority of the time a CC game will be a difference maker- good or bad. Penn State's fluke win over Ohio State didn't help their cause either. If/when they go to an 8 team playoff, a CC game will be crucial as they will take the 5 conference winners and 3 others.

We just need football to start...smh. 3-1/2 weeks fellas

I'll rely on it for the Wisconsin and Ohio State games . I drew a LQ mule deer permit for an area in Wyoming I have been trying to get for years- can't pass it up. I may try to find a local bar that has it on if possible but will likely listen on the radio.

Here's to hoping we look back on this game as the one that helped us turn the corner back to national title contender... and also the game that gave urban more health concerns causing him to re-evaluate coming out of retirement. It will all happen eventually- why not now?

A drop off, if even a small one, has to be expected with a rookie coach. Sure hope so anyways... Agree it is a huge gamble on their part.

I could care less if one guy is getting to 1000 but rather care if we have the per game YPC stat at 4.0+. To me the yards per carry stat really shows how effectively we are running the ball. If we average 4+ per carry, teams will have to add a player to the box, opening up more passing opportunities.

I would rather we remain under the radar for a while... Let the ego of the bigs from the East kids look past us.

I love that there is good competition for starting positions in the fall- pushing all to get better. Nice to hear our rookie is hanging with the experienced guys- maybe more upside? With the depth we have at the position I think we institute a new rule- running back fumbles= 1 game suspension lol.

B1G with 4 in the top 10 is nice to see... Our opportunity to climb quickly is there.
