  1. Coaches comments are a coaching tool to use to motivate players, deceive opposing teams, and to occasionally inform fan bases of something that might cause us to buy a ticket. People stressing about how good or bad anything is based on a no media scrimmage need to relax. We might be great or we might stink but we won't know either until the 27th.
  2. As long as there are relevant B1G teams, ESPN has no choice but to discuss them.
  3. I honestly could care less what network is carrying the games as long as it doesn't end up a pay per view situation again. We host game day parties so can rarely hear the announcers anyways.
  4. You make a great point. I believe he will have a good year but I think a lot of that will have to do with less errors around him.
  5. They aren't doing to good lol - Raised a total of $91 and have 6 members.
  6. Looks the part for sure. I had to click past a message saying "potentially sensitive content". Not sure what that is about?
  7. Based on the rumors heard at the local Pasadena Barber shop?? Nobody wants Frost to succeed more than Trev- seriously man. No AD wants to go through a coaching search... especially a coaching search that will be a make or break one for the ADs job. Shatel's article was crap reporting intended to insight reactions and clicks in an effort to save his own job.
  8. And if he had talked up any part of the program it would have been torn apart by media and fans alike because nobody coming off a 3 win season has any credibility. Media days is always a lose, lose proposition for coaches on the hot seat. He had an obvious strategy to say as little as possible and I personally liked it. What is there really left to say? Get it done on the field this year and the narrative changes.
  9. Nothing Scott says will change the narrative for the season. The media will highlight that he is on the hot seat anytime Nebraska is discussed. He knows they are looking for sound bites and I personally like his approach of not giving them to them. Words aren't going to change this situation...
  10. I personally agree with you. However it is just opinion. Plenty of the younger generation feel differently.
  11. It's like James vs Jordan - there is no right answer. Each fan base can claim their team and never be proven wrong.
  12. This makes sense to me. Hopefully that discourages guys who just lost a QB battle from bailing after fall camp.
  13. I like your optimism. Could happen but I will hold my predictions until after NW game. Regardless of talent, the team needs confidence to compete for the West title. Hopefully that starts building in Ireland.
  14. Not a popular view but what if we just added USC and UCLA. Everyone should go back to the SEC additions threads... Rumors of so many teams joining but in reality it was what it was. Just what was announced. Personally I don't like more Dame or any of the other schools mentioned. They can keep their self righteous attitude imo.
  15. A lot has changed since 2017... Guessing they reconsider.
  16. Not saying it was a bad move at all. I agree with his course of action completely. However he won't look like a genius nationally. He will be seen as someone who copied what Michigan did.
  17. You make a solid point but... I don't think any of them come here if they thought it wasn't going to work. Nobody wants to go out a loser, and most coaches have a pretty big ego. Who knows if that translates to actually winning though.
  18. Lol, yep. The programs that offer the whole package will win in the end. NIL, top notch facilities, etc.. will all be needed.
  19. That year was frustrating for sure. The narrative for that team would have been so different if they had been competitive against Ohio State and Iowa. If we find a way to start 6-0 this year, I would be surprised if we lose any of the remaining games by a large margin like the 2016 team did.
  20. He did get caught cheating... I think he cared but just didn't have the right approach. Hopefully Bill is the answer.
  21. Or we have a really good freshman running back... There have been plenty of truly great freshman running backs. https://www.hogshaven.com/2017/5/19/15643524/skins-stats-the-top-10-true-freshman-seasons-by-a-running-back-in
  22. Getting to see whole games in person can tell you a lot... sometimes more than what scouts get to see. I watched a current husker player in high school several times. My son giving up 50 pounds dominated him so I always questioned why we recruited him. He still hasn't performed to date.
  23. Actually it isn't. Coaches every year make the decision to redshirt or not based on their belief of the players readiness and ability to help the team win. This isn't the 90s so if your teams name isn't Alabama, you better play your talented freshman or you will lose them. Players aren't waiting to play if they know they are good enough to play. Whether a coaches job is on the line or not, they are starting who they feel gives them the best chance to win, period.
  24. I'm not sure any of us would understand without your constant reminders for the last 6 months inside every thread, regardless of topic. Really appreciate it!
