  1. I think Frost's relationships with his players will keep this from happening. Kinda like Bo, Frost's players would run through a wall for him and trust him completely
  2. Possibly the worst the hold called ever! Really makes you wonder if the big ten doesn’t actually have it out of Nebraska this year
  3. I know Todd Johnston who was FHSU’s acting head coach for the game. His dad was my ag teacher and childhood friend of my dads. Great guy and he has a bright future ahead of him in coaching if he wants to stick it out long term
  4. I will gain some respect for Fleck if some of those 20 players out are starters and backup in a certain position group and they still play UNL this weekend. It's one thing to have a starter out here and there (we see that with injuries all the time) but if one or two position groups are really affected and you lose your depth that is pretty damn detrimental to your team and any success you plan on having
  5. @ColoradoHusk, I think Luke is going to have to make a ton of progress throwing in the next year, or be passed by Smothers, and make the move to a skill position. Luke is a dynamic athlete who needs to be on the field, but I'm not sure QB is the long term answer for him. I hope I'm wrong, because losing him to a skill position hurts the depth at QB.
  6. It’s because Nebraska is used to playing on turf and not natural grass. Ask Lee Corso how much of a disadvantage that is!
  7. It’s great to have a guy as reliable as Culp been this year but frustrating because so many of those drives ended in the red zone and should have been touchdowns
  8. @Decoy73 You are absolutely right. It’s been said on here time and time again, it’s hard for any QB to be successful without multiple legitimate threats
  9. Holding any Power 5 team to -2 yards rushing is pretty damn impressive
  10. @Undone In Frosts defense it's hard to be in the positive of the penalty battle when apparently nobody holds against you
  11. It's been said before but I think we disregard it too quick. Sure AM isnt the Am he was as a frosh, but he also had a 10x better WR core his freshman year. We have no deep threat right now. It's pretty damn hard for any QB or offense to be effective when the defense can keep 8 or 9 in the box at all times and defend the pass while doing so. If I have any real frustration with Frost it's that he's not playing the younger guys who have the potential to take the top off of the defense
  12. I guess I would judge quality experience as, when your more talented players are able to get time to develop in your program, spot play early on in their careers, and then start their redshirt Jrs, Srs, and occasionally So. years. Unfortunately our upperclassmen aren't super talented, and our talented kids haven't had the opportunity to "grow up" so to speak in the program. That is a recipe for disaster
  13. I agree that we have some experience but its far from what I would call quality experience. A lot of that has to do with the talent that we do/don't have. Most of are experienced players that are upperclassmen are not super talented. Just because a guy played as a freshmen doesn't mean the game has slowed down for him. You see it a lot, especially at the OL positions that guys don't really flourish until they are juniors and seniors. Our starting RB is banged up so we have little experience there, but the QB position is a concerning mystery to me. I have no idea what AM's problem is. I fully expected him to bounce back and have a big time season, and only see LMC a handful of plays each game. This team is young and full of problems, but I truly believe that we need to suffer for another year or two and then we'll see Frosts vision come together. I know it sucks but his first real recruits are just sophomores and he's still recruiting quality guys somehow. Also there is no way we get a big time coach at UNL anytime soon.
  14. I think Frost and his staff have issues, but its hard to win consistently with little experience on the field
  15. I coached against a kid who used an aftermarket plastic face shield. I believe Schutt made it. But the bottom was open and I don't think it would be very effective
  16. I know the defense has been better, but we are anything but consistent right now, plus we have to show we know how to handle winning, it's unfortunately not something our young kids are used to
  17. I think we jump out to a big lead because Smith starts Peters and he struggles against out defense. Then Williams comes in and makes it more of a game but our offense finally gets the rushing attack going against a pedestrian Illini defense and keeps it out of reach. NU-41 Illini- 31
  18. I think you're spot on. I said on Saturday that we have a young team that when they get the lead play not to lose instead of "driving the nail". I was told that is due to coaching which I totally disagree with. I do think Frost's play calling can be maddening at times, but no coach ever teaches a player to jump offsides, hold, over pursue, etc. I think that people tend to underestimate how much experience really does for a team.
  19. This x1000! Unfortunately that’s what happens when you’re young and inexperienced
  20. I guess one upside is we've had a little longer to prepare for Northwestern then they've had to prepare for us!
  21. Knapp, you know that the website linked below is by far the most accurate and non-biased new source correct? https://www.theonion.com
  22. Not a terrible idea, but I think the thought is two fold. 1) AM is injury prone so LMC needs to be the back up QB, 2) LMC isn't the biggest most stout built guy in the world, giving him 20-25 touches a game would probably get him injured
  23. I know it’s a crappy situation, but if the Huskers come out and dominate maybe that’ll get the ball rolling in the right direction. Sometimes all a team needs is a few lucky breaks, they gain confidence and then begin to execute at a high level and before you know it, their fortunes have turned for the better and they’re winning games
  24. It’s nice that a freshman o lineman could play on Saturday based on talent and not lack of depth
