The players and coaches are doing their best. Riley and his assistants didn’t come here to fail. Yes, there have been mistakes. We may have different opinions on judgment calls. But there is no need for personal insults and nastiness. The players are young adults. They, in particular, deserve our support. I also don’t believe in schadenfreude. Nebraska is the home of the greatest fans in college football so let’s act that way.

** Scott Frost megathread all things SF***
Thurston from Pender replied to brophog's topic in Husker Football
Just read the big Sunday OWH story on Frost. I had no idea he was so hated by some and what he went through. Scott’s our new coach. No doubt now. -
Doctor Tom had the right to do what he wanted to do and retire from coaching. He has given enough to Nebraska. I submit that he is the most important person in the history of the state. (And I still can't believe he lost the GOP primary to Dave Heinaman.)

Might lose every single game from here.

Wisconsin wins because it adopted the Nebraska way. Why doesn't Nebraska follow the Nebraska model? http://www.omaha.com/huskers/bigten/barfknecht-badgers-use-huskers-old-blueprint-to-roll-along-against/article_a58e04c0-a636-11e7-a739-df65c3fb2179.html

race culture wars doesn't do so first. NYT starts a war on the NFL over CTE. Story at the link below. College football is the winner. Nebraska is a leader here. Does Nebraska have the special data gathering helmets. If not, they should. Just seeing all of the tats on Aaron Hernandez and anyone knew he was nuts. The lawsuit is a loser. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/21/sports/aaron-hernandez-cte-brain.html?smid=pl-share&mtrref=althouse.blogspot.com&gwh=E4B99DF1B7C251B530161790C01A93FB&gwt=pay

Barfknecht Nails it to Eichorst
Thurston from Pender replied to returnnutoglory95's topic in Husker Football
CooperOnCourts @CooperOnCourts·7h Online subsc is 25c/day. Yet I hear $100k pro's bitch about story limits&pop-up/video ads. It's an info business folks, not a charity. #sigh Dirk Chatelain @dirkchatelain I really admire the temerity of readers who complain to journalists about reaching their limit of free articles per month. Ballsy. -

1. Highest paid AD in the country? I had no idea. 2. Firing Yori was absurd and completely unjustified. She should be hired back. 3. Ten high paid associate AD gives me a new perspective on NOT paying football and basketball players. 4. Barfy knows his stuff. If it wasn't for the Big Red and the sports writers at the OWH, readership would be cut in half. -
Dirk Chatelain @dirkchatelain·2h I just saw Jim Tressel at Fazoli's. He intends to bring the whole Youngstown State ath dept to Lincoln. What could go wrong? #NotReally 13385 Dirk Chatelain @dirkchatelain·3h Replying to @grantsky I think Trev is pretty damn talented
-
Wikipedia confirms it. It is Trev. Athletic director Trev Alberts[1]
-
Not going to see that from me and I would hope that most Cornhusker fans are the same.

I hear Trev has already listed his house for sale in Omaha. -
Xmas32 1. Can UNO service the Baxter Arena debt? 2. Is UNO better off with its own arena rather than sharing with hated Creighton? 3. Are hockey crowds better at Baxter? 4. Is basketball better off at Baxter than wherever they were playing before? Just asking. You seem knowledgeable.

Trey and only Trev.

Why SE needs to go before we do anything
Thurston from Pender replied to Head Coach Scott Frost's topic in Husker Football
SE inked the massive Addidas deal before the season started. Yesterday was another sell out. Riley is out at the end of the season. SE stays and hires the new head coach: Turner Gill. -
Doctor Tom had zero head coaching experience when he was hired. He only went on to become one of the greatest all time coaches in college football. Below is the Bobfather's record at Wyoming. Not exactly stellar. He got hired because Duffy Daugherty recommended him to the AD. Callahan had a great resume. NFL winner and he coached in the Super Bowl. Way too many here expect a big name and a magic pill to fix things. Not happening. Cornhuskers need to get back to basics and tradition. Give me some good reasons why Turner is not the answer. He won at Buffalo and is winning at Liberty. Many fans love him. He was a winning player here. Mike Riley, Bo and Callahan were certainly not the answers.

Add the OWH to the list of businesses that would be hurt by continued football failure. Who would read the OWH if you had no interest in the Huskers? I certainly have no interest in what Erin Grace and that redhead from Red Cloud have to say. And I will remind you that the parent of the LJS was in bankruptcy not too long ago.

Behind the scenes you can bet many Regents are talking to SE. Hal Daub is running for reelection. His opponent is Barbara Weitz. If Weitz wanted to win, she would make Riley issue number one. But she is just running as a vanity candidate. In any event, we don't need UNL to become even more like Carleton College, her alma mater.
