It's never apples to apples. Tommy had a competent line and running game, plus lots of other upper classman/experienced help including at WR. Which is the cause and which is the effect?

If Frost trots out McCaffrey again at QB I might just lose what remaining faith I have in his ability to turn this around.

I think it's obvious now why Florida said they wanted Frost but he couldn't bring all of his assistants along also. It was probably the reason he did come here because we agreed to it but the time has come for changes.

What special teams coordinator? The one we didn't hire when I thought they really needed one? Or the analyst they did hire who can't actually talk to kids during the games? Fire Verduzco and hire a ST coordinator this offseason.

I think they are trying to do way too much with the QBs. They had a great recruit in Adrian and then injuries and coaching happened and now he looks like he has PTSD. Now the project. Luke. I wouldn't use last year as any sort of a measurement, it was 12 total passes in perfect moments. He has 1 TD and 5 INT in his time at the helm when defenses plan and expect him to play. He has zero arm strength to make the necessary throws over 10 yards and simply should not be a QB. He has happy feet. This experiment needs to end and he should start learning a new position. If he starts at Iowa it will be very ugly.

Luke is not a QB people. It's pretty obvious. He should change positions.

You both are getting hung up on the number 11, who cares. Give out X number to start the season and then take them/give them to others who earn it, not withholding them until some subjective/seemingly random time. That's the point he is making.

I agree. It's become way too complicated and the goalposts keep moving. If it's not clear how they are earned/kept then I just don't care as much.

Even if he is still hurt you can't keep running Wan'Dale 15 times for 3 yards per, that is beyond stupid. Your 215 lb freshman RB can do the same and you don't risk hurting your best player. Find better ways to get him the ball with short throws, sweeps, anything else but stop asking him to run between the tackles and take all those direct hits.

We had one just 5 games ago, but also an entire 12 months ago. Everything is just strange. I threw down $2 on Illinois to win $16 when it was at 15 points. I'll happily give up $2 for a Husker cover but can have $14 for drinks if they screw it up.

It's the sum of all parts. There is no single answer. I think put Adrian, or most QBs, on LSU last year and he looks really good. Luke could still turn our very solidly, TBD. But we have line inconsistencies, WR issues, QB mistakes, play calling limitations and a coach unsure of how to handle all those things together. It's frustrating and it's not simple. The thing that I get hung up on is how good Adrian COULD be. We've seen flashes, and he has all the physical gifts that you want at that position. Luke doesn't but he's got the heart, the drive and the fight. I am really interested to see how Luke does with some tape on film, and defenses preparing just for him. He should get a full look this season and then the coaches know what they've got moving into next year. He also will have had a fair shake no matter how it ends up. I hope if he ends up not being the QB of the future he will still remain a Husker at another position because he could be really great somewhere with his athleticism.

You and me both. Part of me also worries we are way too one dimensional and now teams have a week of film on Luke. Interested to see if Illinois just crowds the line and rushes, not giving any time to throw. I bet you Iowa does the same.

Definitely not routine, you're right. The first scripted drive usually goes well and then in this game there was barely anything else save that 45 yard run by Betts. The turnovers and field position won the game for Nebraska which is something we haven't been able to say in a long time. Need to see more from the offense this weekend before Iowa.

That was back before Frost started 10-17 in 3 years. There is still hope but I am starting to get concerned about things moving forward if this season ends with another losing record. Can't hang your hat in recruiting on 13-0 anymore.

They already know the QB draw is coming. Not going to lie, I've watched a couple Iowa games and they'll win by 20 if we roll out the offense we just saw. We might not get 150 yards, their D is legit.

I believe what you're thinking about is the under center play action, back turned to the defense. That isn't really a thing when you are in shotgun all the time. You have RPO and the QB can fake a handoff for a keeper but it will never have the same effect if you can't hide the ball with your back turned.

Luke is an upgrade over the current AM yes but it's clear they don't trust him to throw over 10 down the middle or down the sidelines. Penn State was able to creep up and get consistent pressure because of that. For this offense to be good you need those throws and they needed a good Martinez to do so. That didn't happen and we will continue to be pretty mediocre until they figure that out. The people drawing sides of coach/playcalling versus QB are making it too binary. Both problems feed into each other creating what we have. The first scripted drive goes very well because they practice it over and over I bet. After that things are very average.
