I'm getting tired of Nebraska being a turnover machine.

What did we learn? - Game 1 - Colorado
Packerhuskerfan replied to suh_fan93's topic in Husker Football
Our FG kicking might cost us some close ones. -
They played better than most of last year, but giving up those 3rd and longs were ridiculous.
-
As bad as some of our rookie mistakes were, if Morgan or Spellman make either of those catches, we likely win.
-
2 bad turnovers early, dropped TD by Morgan, dropped 1st down by Spellman, and bad 3rd and 24 defensive penalty cost Neb. Hopefully Martinez ok.
-
Pay Akron extra to stay around. It beats most of the alternatives.

Florida State played a game during championship weekend last year to make a bowl. It has been done. I'd like for them to schedule a FCS team during the bye. I don't think the extra week is going to help us beat Ohio State. I see that as a likely loss regardless.
-
Moos is not perfect since you need to do everything in your power including uping the pay to get Akron to play tomorrow. He now needs to be making phone calls for the bye week or figure out a Florida State type contingency plan for if they don't make the championship game and need 6 wins.
-
Pay Akron double.
-
It might cost us bowl eligibility. We might want to do a FSU move and try to schedule South Dakota State or another team late in the season.

Martinez could struggle or get injured. Since there are no guarantees at Oregon State, I still think it is surprising to quit so close to the start of the season. Is he going to keep quiting teams if he doesn't get named a starter?

Commits to us last week, but puts on full TN uniform? Lame. -
QB Adrian Martinez [Nebraska - Signed LOI]
Packerhuskerfan replied to Mavric's topic in 2018 Profiles
Journalstar: The Martinezes met with ElAttrache in November before Adrian’s Nov. 11 official visit to Ohio State and the doctor gave a positive update. Now, Adrian is planning on playing in Jan. 4’s Under Armor All-American Bowl in Orlando. “He’s hungry, he’s starving to play and he’s so excited to play against guys like Justin Fields and all of these guys,” Tony Martinez said, referring to the Kennesaw, Georgia, native ranked by 247Sports as the No. 2 overall prospect and top senior quarterback in the nation. “He wants to showcase himself and compare himself." Once that game’s over, the plan is to travel directly to college — Knoxville or Lincoln? Time will tell. Members of the new Volunteers coaching staff are set to visit Fresno early this week. The impression left by new coaches at Nebraska was clearly a strong one. -

Sounds like he might not make decision until after that all star bowl. Hopefully, another team doesn't swoop in at the last minute. -
Walters wanted the head coaching job. He might have also wanted to see if he was offered an OC spot where he was the play caller. I get bringing all the offensive guys over, but I'm not fond of keeping all of the defensive guys. The defense looked horrible in the last two games.

ESPN-How Nebraska Got Scott Frost
Packerhuskerfan replied to In the Deed the Glory's topic in Husker Football
If Scott is successful, Moos will renew Scott's contract before he leaves and get Scott's input on the next AD. Now that Scott is here after a tough decision, hopefully his heart is 100% in it, since adversity WILL strike this team at times and a "I should have stayed at UCF" mentality at tough times will sink him. I think he would have had more regrets had he passed on Nebraska which is why I think he ultimately chose Nebraska. -
ESPN-How Nebraska Got Scott Frost

Scott is who I wanted this year and who I wanted 3 years ago. I won't go as far as to say he is the only on that could still turn Nebraska around. We have yet to get a coach that will play more of a Big Ten style of football. Pelini was the closest and we never had less than 9 wins. -

I think UCF will be more motivated as Auburn will see the Peach Bowl as a disappointing ending to the season while UCF will want to prove it can hang with the big boys. -
ESPN-How Nebraska Got Scott Frost

Unless he is involved in some huge scandal, I don't think he'll ever lose Nebraska as a "home". Bart Starr was a bad coach for Green Bay, but still beloved by their fan base. Frost will always be remembered fondly for bringing a championship to Nebraska whether he wins one as a coach or not. -

This article makes it sound like Scott was having second thoughts Friday night: http://www.omaha.com/huskers/football/barfknecht-credit-tom-osborne-with-the-save-in-bringing-scott/article_065ae3ca-d884-11e7-9362-1b64d9f41039.html -
** Scott Frost megathread all things SF***
Packerhuskerfan replied to brophog's topic in Husker Football
I'd be surprised if he was that conflicted to the degree that he was thinking of backing out (although it might explain why the announcers were a bit puzzled that the decision was already made when they said Frost acted like he was still debating on Friday). He was going to leave UCF at some point whether this year or another year or two, so you might as well pick your "dream job". He has already reached the top of what he can do there. He was going to keep getting big offers each year from big Power 5 schools as long as he was successful. -
I'm glad we got him. I wanted him 3 years ago. Hopefully, we are back to contending in a couple years.
