  1. What a coming out party for Yant. If he can keep his weight down and continue to learn the playbook I can see an illustrious future for him at NU. Every time I've seen him run the ball he just seems to have that little bit extra you don't always see in other backs and and if I'm a DB I wouldn't want to have to try to tackle him when he's coming at me with a head of steam. Looked pretty good blocking in pass protection too.
  2. 2. ST will improve just because they can't get much worse but they will be a damn far sight short of being fixed. You don't go from one of the worst ST in college FB to fixed in 1 week. 3. OL will improve due to weaker opponent this week. 4. RB by committee seems to be the norm with this staff.
  3. I agree completely. NW is in a down year and there is no doubt in my mind we have better overall talent but NW is a superior coached team. Another sloppy game by NU with stupid mistakes could make it interesting. If they take care of business they should win but the same could be said for Ill, OU & MSU.
  4. One metric where nobody comes close to matching DONU! And we thought it couldn't get any worse than the last couple of years
  5. I'm going to see if my dentist can do an emergency root canal, on healthy tooth, with no novocaine. If that option isn't available I'm calling to see if the colonoscopy clinic is open on weekends.
  6. I voted 2025. 2022 schedule is more favorable but I assume HCSF will be back so we will continue to be inept in at least 2 phases of the game and the D is losing a bunch of top talent. 2023 will see a new coach but it takes a year or two to gain traction even for competent coaches. 2024 will see us hurting in quite few positions as a result of 5 or 6 consecutive loosing seasons and recruiting going to hell at the end of HCSF's tenure. 2025 with our new coach's recruits starting to hit their stride this could be the year we finally pull out of the nose dive.
  7. I looked to me like he stumbled and about fell down while punting the ball so I don't think he just decided to kick the ball to the left side. An execution failure just like the 7 yard punt earlier in the game.
  8. That didn't surprise me since it looked like the punter just about fell down on the punt. I was expecting another 7 yard shank but instead saw it sail to the side of the field with no coverage.
  9. I learned we are now 2-0 against FCS & G5 teams. 0-3 against P5 teams. Maybe next week we can get our first P5 win
  10. Every time I see stats like these I cringe. Hopefully they can eliminate both of these tonight.
  11. A win last week would have been a signature win as would a win against OSU, Wis or Iowa if they were solidly in the top 10 and playing good ball. A win against an MSU team that just moved into the top 25, has only beaten 2 weak teams and a very questionable Miami team doesn't qualify for a signature win in my book. It would still be a great and much needed win for DONU but falls short of a true signature win.
  12. This has always baffled me too. One week, you watch somebody that has had a solid performance and think maybe earned the next start but the following week they turn into the a milk carton kid. It seems this staff values practice performance above all else, including game performance, so maybe he just had a bad week of practice and was benched. But who knows? 10,000' view, it looks really erratic.
  13. The scary thing is we still have to play 3 out of the 4 that are ranked above us.
  14. I agree with the thought that this may be the most important game of the year. If they can earn a win on a second consecutive road game I'd feel pretty good about making to a bowl game. But a loss and things don't look nearly as bright. If they lose to MSU and then beat NW next week that would mean they would need to win 3 of the last six games to go bowling. With the schedule and the inconsistency this team seams to exhibit that would be a pretty big ask IMHO.
  15. After watching MSU take care of Miami pretty easily today I have a feeling next week in East Lansing may actually be a tougher game to win than what we saw today. MSU is playing good ball.
  16. I'm in a holding pattern until later in the season on HCSF. We haven't really learned much these first three games IMHO. Sure, we beat up a lower end FCS school and a Mid American Conference team with a new first time head coach that had 16 players bale out when previous HC Lance Leipold left for Kansas. We lost to the only P5 school we've played that then went on to lose to UTSA and was demolished by UVA. He can still turn it around but if this season ends like the last 3 I'm really scared what it will do to recruiting. We are already rated last in the B1G and 10th in ave. star rating. And now we are routinely loosing a lot of the top talent in the state. I fear with another lackluster season things will only get worse next year and do damage to the program for years in the future. You can probably recover from one lower rated class but two or more is going to make life very difficult for HCSF or whoever is coaching the team.
  17. Because that is what we have done after ALL of our BIG WINS the last few years
  18. I'd be very happy if we could go 2-1 over the next 3 games. Honestly, I think 1-2 is more likely though.
  19. This is going to be a tough road game coming off the road game at OU. Hopefully we don't get too beat up in Norman this week.
  20. Buffalo - 34 Nebraska - 27 Rush - 195 Pass - 220
  21. It was ruled OOB and returned to the original LOS. When I saw the replay I couldn't believe it was ruled incomplete. Should have been 1st and goal at the 1 yard line or a TD. I understand it was late in the game and we were up big but regardless I think they have an obligation to get the calls right. I'm sure Smothers & Brown would have liked to have the call be correct.
