  1. Here's a facebook message I got from a former player: "I saw the profile pic on Unsportsmanlike Conduct's page..... I absolutely LOVE it! Get rid of that [edited]!" I got one some time ago from a player's girlfriend last year who called Anderson a worse name than the one I cut out above (the player in question got 0 playing time, despite being a regular starter/contributor, when his entire family was in town for his graduation, and in case anyone wondered, no this was not Jake Mort, but there's a pattern developing, I hope you will see). I'm not concerned with wins and losses, his character behind the scenes is highly questionable.
  2. I wouldn't go straight to powerhouse. They're a good team, though.
  3. I'm excited to see TD Ameritrade Park this spring, CWS will begin before we know it. GBR.
  4. If anybody here actually listened to the post-game press conference, you'll know that was about as polite as Bo has ever been after such a disgusting performance by his team. He was laughing a little bit when he said "That was a joke, ma'am", and added the kid could have done a better job coaching the team than he did that night. If Bo's answer in that press conference hurt her feelings, she needs to switch careers.
  5. TJ Hollowell is the only other name I've seen brought up, don't know if that's accurate
  6. Bo wouldn't let his team mope about a bowl game, this ain't K-State or Missouri. UW also lost a starting d-lineman to injury so their already suspect defense got a little worse.
  7. True, it was not the best analogy. I'll just say that from what I've heard, which agrees with what you're saying, Carnes is not to be taken lightly. As to drama being from message boards, true a lot of BS has been floated, but if the kid would put his cell phone down for a few minutes, none of it would be an issue.
  8. Lee didn't break virtually every record this school had for freshman QBs. No, and Carnes doesn't have some of the immaturity issues that have popped up with Martinez. If reports are accurate it sounds like Carnes could step in and do just as much damage with less drama.
  9. The same exact things said about Carnes were said about Martinez last year, and I'm sure most(absolutely myself included) said "Doesn't matter, Lee will start." Oops. We shall wait and see...
  10. "Boy Trapped in Refrigerator Eats Own Foot"
  11. I may be in before the lock. This remains to be seen.
  12. Nebraska scored 6 points, A&M scored 3. Bottom line, as lame as the offense was, they did everything they were supposed to do to win the game and the officials TOOK IT AWAY.
  13. They did what they were supposed to do, to near perfection
  14. Unrelated thought: overconfidence was not a problem against Texas, it was playing tight, in fear of screwing up (predictably becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy).
  15. My only problem with what they wrote is that the only reason Nebraska failed against the best defense they faced was because receivers dropped open passes. It's not like Nebraska's offense got completely stymied by UT, they had opportunities to put up no less than 24 points, and if the receivers actually catch those passes, perhaps UT backs off, opening up the run. . .would've, could've, should've, I know, but let's give credit where it is due: the NU backs and receivers who dropped 8 passes for little to no reason (other than playing uptight.)
  16. I'm not saying Watson called a perfect game, far from it, and I pretty much wanted him out last year when it sounded like he and Pelini couldn't agree on a philosophy. But today, the play calls as they were should have been good for somewhere between 28-35 points, more than enough to win. The coaches do take some blame for lack of execution, of course.
  17. Clester Johnson. I've been there once, about a year and a half ago, I think. It's nice, you should definitely check it out.
  18. So, who was the lucky KSU fan who got to sit in his fart dust?
  19. Bill Snyder's assistant coaches hate the man's micromanaging, he frequently left his starters in for entire games against hapless, 1-AA opponents, and I recall hearing something about him using rental cars issued to coaches for bowl games to make recruiting trips which is not legal. So yeah, screw Bill Snyder.
  20. I say it was a real nice team win. Or I'm just too lazy to come up with any real answer. EDIT: just saw somebody else gave the whole team a game ball well there you go, I should read the whole thread next time.
  21. He strikes me as a little flakey like that now and then, but laid back enough to not have any "pet" teams like some guys in the business and always give teams their due.
  22. It got doc fired, right? Not yet, but he's not in his 8th year as a head coach, either, nor was he handed a top 10 quality team. If Doc fails again this year, I won't be broken up if he gets canned. Nor did he make the Elite 8 in 2005, or win the programs 1st game ever there. Larry Coker won a national title in 2001. Where is he now? Things sure went south once he could no longer ride the coattails of Butch Davis. We are almost 6 years removed from the College World Series, no more Van Horn recruits, no more pitchers taught by Rob Childress (no, not asking for Rob to come back as head coach, he's more valuable as an assistant IMO, just like Anderson). Nebraska will never reach the CWS again, and will be lucky to host a regional, but even if they did all we would have to look forward to are further losses to teams like San Francisco, Oral Roberts and Manhattan (combined score of those three regional losses: 17-2, not even competitive against the dregs of our own regional). 2006 and 2008 both lost their mental edge completely in the months of May and June. The combined efforts of 2007, '09 and '10 manages to come out to 2 games above .500. Thank god we scheduled Southeast Missouri State this year, although if we faced them in a regional at home, I shudder to think of what the outcome would be. Bottom line: Mike Anderson sucks as a head coach, without Rob Childress to hold his hand, he has dropped off the map entirely in 5 seasons. He has not proven that he has the ability to instill any mental toughness in his own recruits, nor has he ever shown he can build/rebuild a program. The problems that plagued his teams at the end of '06 and '08 have begun to show up in February and stick around the entire season the last two years, not surprising considering they did not have players like Johnny Dorn who experienced superior coaching under Rob Childress. I am reminded of what Lyons said over in another thread. His own players on this year's team call Anderson a "complete jackass." Anderson proved them right when he kept Farst on the bench for his last game at Haymarket park until the final half-inning. A guy who worked his ass off, team (and possibly conference?) leader in batting average a year ago and had been playing well through the last 10 or so games of this season. Gets benched in his last game in Lincoln. Whatever MA's motives were, it was a classless move, but not the first one he's made (talk to Jake Mort when his family came for "Jake Mort Day" to see their guy. . .ride the pine the whole game.) Ah well, baseball season's over so I'm going to go drink a lot and watch tapes of old football games for 3 months Take 'er easy.
  23. I don't pay nearly enough attention to basketball anymore Hope this guy does well.
