  1. I can't fnd 2012 number yet but for 2011 18 teams sold out every home game... Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, Georgia, LSU, Florida, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Iowa, Virginia Tech, Oregon, Texas Tech, Louisville, Utah, Cincinnati and Boise State. Nebraska of course is on that list... so is Iowa. know who isn't on the list... anyone else in this bogus top 5 including their so called #1 fanbase.
  2. I don't forgive Incompetence. Expecially when that incompetence comes with a $1.5M a year salary.
  3. Gale Sayers if stories are to be believed spurned NU to go to KU when the Jayhawks gave him a car.
  4. We're two top tier defensive players in the front 7 and a couple offensive tackles that can play in pass pro from being a legit title contender. It's possible the defensive stars are currently on the roster... the offensive tackles however are not.
  5. Take this for what its worth.... I heard a rumor several weeks ago that if Andy Reid were to get fired (He did this morning) that he would be the leading canidate for the San Diego job. He just built a house there within the last year.... I think Reid ends up in KC.
  6. The biggest problem is that in Bo's first 3 recruiting classes only 3 of the DT recruits have done anything at all.. and one of those 3 is Cole Pensick who played offense. We simply have had a lot of dead wood recruited to that position.
  7. We came out with a horrible defensive gameplan when we played UCLA and UCLA came out with a worse one against Baylor.
  8. How is Wisconsin not ranked at this point? If we're 9th they are clearly top 10
  9. You should have seen that coming. Vegas should have too. Many of us did. Nebraska's division race was extremely tight with Michigan so we didn't clinch the division until the final game of the season with a win over Iowa, thus Nebraska had a week to prepare for that game. Wisconsin meanwhile thanks to Penn State and Ohio State being ineligable knew they were playing in that game and were likely playing Nebraska a month in advance. You give one team a month to prepare and the other team a week to prepare and bad things are almost guaranteed to happen for the team with less time.
  10. It was a legal hit and a good one. Conact was made to the front shoulder, no helmet involved and the player was not in any position to believe himself to be defenseless, he was the one chasing down the ballcarrier for crying out loud.
  11. How is it a bluejay state when noone west of 72nd cares about them?
  12. Honestly, I don't think adding him increases our chances of making a run at the NC. Don't get me wrong, we would improve our offense. But our offense isn't going to be what is holding us back next year. What we need to make that next jump is some quality JUCO DTs like Hooks, Toby (if he is ready by next year), Quincy, or Bradley. won't hurt. I I'd love to land Beau but not landing him wouldn't be championship deciding. Heck if we don't land Beau and we don't have another gamebreaking TE ready to play by spring ball, they can always move Turner to the perimeter, use either Taariq Allen or Jordan Westerkamp in the slot and put Q at TE in passing situations with Cotton playing TE in run situations.
  13. I don't see how Wisconsin can't respect NU--they basically are a carbon copy of the Huskers of the 80s, led by a Husker alum, wearing Husker colors In my experience Badger fans totally respect Nebraska. First of all, the architecht of our program, Barry Alvarez learned everything he knows under Bob Devaney and has successfully implemented the same model at Wisconsin. Second, as you point out, you guys are all about hard-nosed football. Run the ball, play good defense, focus on the fundamentals, and it's about winning: not style points. But there are dumbasses in every fan-base, and Wisconsin has their fair share. The way I look at it is that Wisconsin fans behave how Nebraska fans would be if Devaney followed Osborne instead of the other way around.
  14. I can't stand the Wisconsin coach but the fans are cool. Same with Ohio State and Meyer. Conversely I can't stand many of the Northwestern fans but their coach is awesome.
  15. So let me get this straight.. The Iowa Nebraska game on Friday got a 2.6 rating. Outdrawing rivalries like the Iron Bowl (with Bama playing to get to a national title), UCLA-Stanford (with pac 12 title implcations for both teams as well as Oregon), Georgia-Georgia Tech and Bedlam...and virtually every other so called rivalry game of the weekend save 4, 2 if not 3 of which potentially had national title implications. Only getting outdrawn by Michigan-Ohio State (with OSU trying to go undefeated), Florida-Florida State (with Both teams highly ranked), the USC-Notre Dame game (with the Domers trying to go undefeated and play for a national title) and the primetime CBS friday game of LSU-Arkansas... in a year where frankly Iowa's program is a dumpster fire And they want to give up THAT exposure? Exposure that could reap massive returns for their program for decades to come in exposure and recruiting on a National scale? Are they really that stupid?
  16. O'Brien will leave to go to the NFL but it won't be this offseason. His buyout is $9M this season. It drops by over $2M next year. He also knows that if he leaves before August it will absolutely destroy Penn State's program even worse than the sanctions already will. He won't do that. He'll stick through one more year then take an NFL offer.
  17. Jamal Turner is about the only guy I'd trust back there at this point. He got blasted just after catching the ball against Iowa, and held onto it. I nearly shat. Rex
  18. Sure if you completely oversimplyfy it to the point of being laughably soft on context. Nebraska is going to have more running plays simply because Nebraska runs far more plays in general. Nebraska has held the ball for 338.58 minutes this year (30.53 per game) Iowa has held the ball for 326.39 minutes this year (29.14 per game) Nebraska is also a far more up tempo team than Iowa and has far fewer short drives. Nebraka has run a total of 816 plays, Iowa has only run 750 plays. Nebraska also gains an average 8.1 yards per pass attempt (.3 tenths of a point below Michigan for best in the Big Ten) Iowa only gains an average of 5.9 yards per pass attempt (.2 tenths of a point above Illiois for worst in the Big Ten) But besides all that, Iowa by design is a two tight end downhiill power team that though they pass often rarely pass for more than 10 yards through the air. Their passing game is predicated on short routes to the perimeter to draw the outside linebacker coverage to the edge and open up the middle for their halfback to run against a 6 vs. 6 matchup (4 D-linemen a linebacker and a saftey vs. 5 O-linemen and a fullback). They pass to be balanced not to be a passing team. (heck through todays game they have 365 pass attempts and 365 rush attempts on the season) Nebraska by design is a spread team that runs the ball to the edge to wear the linebackers out running sideline to sideline before going up the middle all while drawing the safeties up against the run in order to go vertical down the field.(before the Minnesota game how many times have you seen a screen pass this year?) Iowa has 41 receptions on passes thrown 20 yards or more on the season and 84 on passes that were thrown fewer than 10 yards. Nebraska has 68 receptions on passes thrown 20 yards or more on the season and just 33 on passes that were thrown fewer than 10 yards. (all stats except the one I specifically stated otherwise are through last weekend and don't have today's game factored in) Today's weather was perfectly suited for how Iowa likes to play on offense and completely detrimental to how Nebraska does.
  19. Unfortunately weather and mental mistakes are not things that are going against us. Both teams played in the same weather and mental mistakes are our own issue. Was Iowa playing any better or more motivated than average? No. I've watched 7 or 8 Iowa games this season and they played just about like they always do: conservative, pretty well-coached and sparks of solid play here and there. Sorry, no. That was Iowa's offense today, weather or no weather. That is how they play, power running and 3 yard passes and extremely conservative coaching - every single game. That isn't what we try to do. We pretty much tossed out 4/5ths of the playbook today and beat Iowa using Iowa's own gameplan. The weather created absolutely the perfect conditions for Iowa to have had any chance of an upset and we still beat them. Not sure what your point is. Vandenberg threw some nice balls with the wind. Overall Iowa was Iowa. When we had the chance to go for the throat (which PSU and Michigan did successfully) we didn't/couldn't. The point is that the weather was far more of a factor against the style of offense we run than that of Iowa so your contention that just because both teams play in the same weather that it isn't a factor that goes against Nebraska is incorrect.

  21. Game ball for Nebraska = Burkhead. Dude personifies Heart and Soul on that football field. Game ball for Iowa = Wind. It saved them from getting blown out.
  22. The Wind is the best Defense in the Big Ten. Io_a is still Io_a
  23. Uh not a statue but he does have a sports center named after him...just sayin! And Osborne has a field.
  24. Corn Bowl sucks, Heroes Game sucks more. Red-Gold Rivalry
