  1. I hate to be "that guy" but the no.1 song on December 4th 1999 was "smooth" by Santana http://www.billboard.com/charts/hot-100#/charts/hot-100?chartDate=1999-12-04 "Blue" was definitely my favorite song that year though.
  2. Gus Johnson can be great but he tends to show bias for the underdogs. He was obviously playing into the UCLA upset against us earlier this year so I doubt he'll be any better for this game.
  3. I have some delicious crow to eat for thanksgiving
  4. We could be a pretty good team if we didn't suck ass in the first half of every game...
  5. I like the divisions the way they are but I wouldn't mind trading the Penn state game for an annual Wisconsin game.
  6. We were doing the same thing when Martinez got hurt in 2010
  7. I really hope that crap doesn't catch on. The Sea of Red trumps "power towels" every time. Really? I thought the black flags against Wisconsin were intimidating, and awesome.... It would be a nice addition to the crowd, and wouldn't affect any of our other traditions.... There's nothing intimidating, or awesome, or powerful about "power towels". Exactly! nothing is more intimidating than 80,000 blue hairs sitting down.
  8. A consistent factor in the Championship hunt like Oklahoma, Alabama, USC, LSU, ...you know, the group of schools we use to be a part of.
  9. We were actually very good in the late 1800's through 1920's, including a season where we didn't give up a single point we didn't become 4th in all time wins (that's more than Oklahoma, Ohio state and Alabama mind you) by being good for only 40 years. Nebraska had some amazing history before the Devany Era, for example The famed Four Horsemen of Notre Dame only lost two games in their four year run....both to Nebraska. We weren't a fluke, Nebraska really is one of the greatest programs of all time.
  10. Unfortunately even if we did the championship would be highly scrutinized because Ohio State wasn't allowed in it. It would be a victory, but a hollow one...I'd still like to have it though.
  11. Run the ball, don't put all the pressure on Taylor....they are going to score at least 30 on us so don't make Taylor feel like he was to win the game all by himself or it will be another disaster. This is a huge game for Beck to prove himself as a playcaller.
  12. The turning point was when we responded to the 17-14 score with a turnover that led to more points. Kicking the field goal was the correct call, I can't imagine what the backlash would have been like here had we gone for it and failed...
  13. He lost support because he couldn't win games, no one said a word about how he was treating former players until 2007. If he had us in the top 10 right now he would still be the most popular man in the state. Wrong, Tom and the former players were undermining him in 2005 with "alternate" golf tourney's at the same time and date the athletic department had theirs. The not winning games had more to do with having to get a ton of JUCO's to try to field a competitive team because he inherited a small and slow team that wasn't able to compete. A majority of those guys graduated and then the 12 (or close to it) man recruiting class of 2004 (5 by Solich) reared it's ugly head and there were no upperclassmen on that team that were any good. Kind of what Bo is going through right now, only this is all of his doing since it's his 5th season. Yeah Tom and former players did but nobody in the athletic department gave a sh#t, fan support was also very high for Callahan following the end of '05 and through the '06 season. Then we got blown out by USC and Oklahoma State and all the news about the treatment of former players came to light.... His fate had already been sealed by that point.
  14. I understand how you feel, I'm only still going because I've never been to Chicago...

  16. They were trying to escape Bo's locker room rant?

It was cool for one game, maybe do it one game a season, but i'll be happy to go back to red and white next week.
  18. Oh I thought this was just for fun? The Avengers already won the thread anyway
  19. It either didn't hit him or Abdullah is the greatest actor in the history of the world.
  20. Honestly, I think the best system would be to keep the N-card system. However, if you need to sell your ticket, there needs to be the option to go into the ticket office, obtain a physical paper copy of your student ticket (validated or not, whichever you need) and then you could sell that physical copy. You still wouldn't be wasting very much paper and it would make the selling process 100x simpler. The $5 transaction fee, if true, is a pretty pathetic money grab by the athletic department. I've only sold, never bought, with this new system, but I've NEVER heard of this $5 thing even among the several e-mails they sent us to talk about the new system. I heard about it through a classmate but I guess it could have been a rumor. I haven't used the system yet myself either.
  21. Sorry I made a late edit to my post, you have to pay the validation fee which you could always get around in the past. That extra fee is chasing some people away. IIRC the only way to avoid this in the past was to get into the game without an usher checking to see whether the ticket user was in fact a student. But at my gate last year (the East gate) they always checked, and if you weren't a student, they'd send you off to pay validation. Saw it happen to a couple of people last year. So, you know, I think people should probably just be used to that by now. It varied by usher, most were fine if you just had an ncard. I knew lots of people who got in without any problems. You may be right though about the lines being a bigger problem, I arrived early enough to avoid them so I couldn't see them myself. The construction's causing a lot of issues with that.

  23. A big problem this year is that they changed how you transfer your tickets, you can't just hand them to your friend or sell them anymore. Instead you have to transfer them online (which the university charges a handsome little $5 transaction fee) into another students account(must be student, can't be friend of student from out of town or a different Lincoln college) and even this has been having problems. I had a couple friends of mine who wanted to go to the game yesterday and couldn't' because they never got the tickets on their account... I also know a guy from KSU who was thinking of coming to the Wisconsin game but he won't be able to sit with us because he's not actually a student of u-n-l(unless he pays another fee)......Therefor you're seeing a large group of students who want to sell or give away their ticks and simply can't find a new home for them. This picture is the outcome. I knew this was going to happen and it's only going to get worse when we reach the cold part of the season, as usual the blame is going to land on the students when it should all be thrown on the athletic department for changing a working system. I wouldn't be surprised if they abandon the new policy next year.
