  1. It's like... existential, man. Looks pretty good for this guy, but it's not a lock yet as his family wants him to stay close to home in Miss.
  2. He's planning on making a decision by week's end.
  3. I think we'll try for a full class but won't have one by the time fall practice starts. There will be some potential slots for walk-ons.
  4. Does anyone know if it's available online or some other channel for those of us outside the state?
  5. I'm surprised how many think we'll lose to CU. We led 35-24 at the half, and ended the game with 51 points - in Boulder. Even a half-decent defense would have won us the game, easily. This year CU comes to Lincoln, and it'll be the end of the season so both teams should be experienced. CU lost several key defensive players, including all-world LB Jordan Dizon. I think that favors NU quite a bit, we should have a much better D by then, and our offense should be at least as good. Injuries and luck certainly play a big role so either team could win, but I'd favor us against them in 08.
  6. For the love of god, it's "Osborne" not "Osbourne". I think we seriously underperformed in 07. We won the B12 north and did fine against a good Auburn team in the Cotton bowl in 06, so I'm not sure exactly what happened. And then there was the 73 point drubbing of KSU during a stretch of losing badly to other teams. I think we'll be an improved team in 08, but I have no idea how much we'll improve.
  7. I like "Husker Nation". And I don't care where it started.
  8. Next year is a whole different season. NU played very poorly and will probably be better, while KU and MU played extremely well and will have a hard time maintaining that. Without the benefit of seeing these teams play their OOC schedules, I'd say NU has a decent chance of upsetting one of them. But both MU and KU are favorites over NU at this point, and rightfully so. This will be a much more meaningful discussion by the end of September.
  9. Really? From his quotes I thought it sounded like NU has an edge over UConn.
  10. I think that every team experiences tough losses when trying to get over the next "hump". Mizzou is finally a top team in the B12 and in the nation - this usually comes with tough losses because the teams already at that plateau (i.e. OU) have played in championship games and know how to approach those games. The real test is can Mizzou get back to the B12 championship game, because once you're in the game, it doesn't matter how you got there, and you have an opportunity to win. It's much harder to win consistently against every opponent than it is to be above average with a few upsets, just ask TTech.
  11. Well, that lessens the blow of Hoch leaving.
  12. You do realize that this is the RB coach, right? Can you name many RB coaches, and who should we have gotten?
  13. A bunch more guys will announce over the next 2 weeks. They start bolting enmass once the bowl games are over. I expect Slaton will go regardless of what he's said.
  14. He is considering visiting NU on the 25th. I doubt he'll actually visit, but if he does, we've got an excellent chance since it'll be so close to signing day.
  15. Sounds like Johnson may still go to UCLA. Neuweasel has always been a good recruiter.
  16. As an interesting aside, rivals had an interview with him, and he mentioned that Phillip really likes the new coaches. Several people have brought up some sort of conflict between Pelini and Dillard from back during recruiting. But Lynn gives the impression that it's water under the bridge and PD is excited about the new coaches.
  17. His academic problems apparently stem from his HS records being destroyed by Katrina. It isn't that he needs tutoring or somehow needs help, he simply doesn't have proof he took some classes which are required. Reports are that he's taking some online classes in order to finish on time and graduate in May. This isn't confirmed anywhere but is what I've put together from various sources.
  18. Actually, I think Callahan was the price we paid for firing Solich. Now we need to recover from BC which is going to take some time and some hits to recruiting.
  19. This has been confirmed by Will's mother. Will is still in and taking his official on Jan. 11.
  20. The problem is that not everyone has the same notion of "getting there". In other words, as far away from what? Plus expectations change as the team does better/worse. So some will think we're not far away and some will think we are far away, regardless of the results. But I do agree with your main point that the D could be significantly improved regardless of the players.
  21. Speculation is that Hawkins is telling the recruits that Bo not having a contract means there may be a fallout between him and TO. I don't know if that's what Hawkins is actually saying, but it makes sense since that's probably what I'd do if the reverse was happening. Recruiting is completely fluid until the name is on the dotted line. We're going to lose some more, we're going to get some back, and we're going to get some others that will appear on the radar in January.
  22. Sounds like the new staff was willing to honor his schollie but didn't really want him.
