  1. i think a lot of people thought TM starting was not a 100 percent...... i think Bo even said the QB comp. was open this year as well and taylor is gonna have to earn it again.... it could be just talk I guess but i still found it interesting TM's not a lock. He could get injured (knock on wood) or somebody could step up and play out of their mind in the offseason and dethrone him. But he is the frontrunner, by far, and it's nuts to expect freshmen like Carnes, Starling, or Turner to win the job this season, which is what some people think is going to happen. Agree. If somebody other than Martinez is walking out taking the first snaps against Tenn-Chatt, then we are in some serious trouble this season. Quite frankly it doesnt matter who the QB is, if our offense conitunes to produce like it has the past 2 years, we will be 8-4 at best. Its Martinez's job to lose as much as I hate to say that. Of course I thought Zac Lee was gonna be our starter in 2010, no question about it. I don't think we're in the midst of changing offenses this year, though. Zac Lee didn't lose his job because he's not a good QB, he lost his job because he's just not as good of a fit for the offensive system Nebraska is now running. He wasn't enough of a threat running the football for what the coaches want to do. Of course we all didnt really know we were to this zone read stuff till about 3 days before the first game either this past year. Really? That's what I thought we were doing... I wasn't on the board much until that point last year, but I remember thinking starting at the Holiday Bowl against Arizona that we were going to be moving towards a spread option game... Yes after the holiday bowl, I think perception was we would see more of the wildcat, with Rex. Not nesscarily go full blown Oregon zone read style, with an uproven QB. Oregon had an unproven QB this year the same age as Martinez and they didn't dial down anything. If that is the direction we are going, why not go full blown? Nebraska was so vanilla and predictable this year it wasn't even funny. If fans knew the play before hand, then then defense prob. knew the play before hand. The thing that makes Oregons offense great (and I don't want to hear about how they did in the NC bc at least they made it to that game) is the fact that they go so fast! The no-huddle offense really wears down defenses. Auburns defense was huffing anf puffing after the end of the 1st quarter. Plus the fact that they run different sets and versions of the spread option like in the videos Blaze posted earlier. I enjoyed watching their offense in the NC game. They did not score many points, but they were able to move the ball fairly well. If this is the direction we are going, we need to go full out this year and not be so vanilla. Oregon's Qb might have been unproven this year but I bet he played Qb on the scout team or with the top units to get him to know the playbook. Martinez last year was playing receiver on the scout team and was learning he offense this year along with everyone else. stare into the multi quote... and you shall see E T E R N I T Y !
  2. after reading that article, i no longer want him to be a position coach at nebraska... i want him to be the head coach if bo leaves. sorry, turner...
  3. i tend to agree with this statement......i figure announcements will come by Jan.15th. Really? Can you send me the upcoming winning lottery numbers too? if it doesn't happen by the 15th, it won't happen at all...is that good enough for ya? wait, do you mean the announcement or the winning lottery numbers?
  4. and of course jason peter who didn't have to threaten anyone: everyone KNEW he'd light chumps up like a candles if they stepped out of line. i remember reading osborne's book (more than winning, i think) where he described peter just laying into a teammate what was giving way less that a hundred percent. peter pretty much ran the kid over as an object lesson. though osborne thought peter might have been a tad over zealous in practice, he did appreciate the fact that he had kids on the team who would step up and be leaders and/or enforcers when the coaches weren't around. kyle vanden bosch is probably the last blackshirt that comes to mind when it comes to leadership. suh, as much of a beast as he was on the field, never struck me as a r. lee ermey-type of modivator.
  5. that would make pud karma's gimp/bottom/submissive. couldn't happen to a nicer guy, really.
  6. the hype on this kid isn't as bad as it was for harrison beck. and that's not a bad thing. i would be HIGHLY surprised if he comes to nebraska. he can make big money NOW as baseball player.
  7. World Peace. and by 'World Peace' i mean 'Nebraska winning National Championships for the next 15 years straight' because that would surely usher in a golden age of enlightenment for the earth. ... for the children..!
  8. indeed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dA8DsUN6g_k
  9. By then will he really want to step Down to Ohio State from a Nebraska team that has 2 consecutive Big 10 +2 championships. Of course home is home and for him that is THE Ohio STATE UNIVERSITY. fixed before any bucknuts pop a gasket.
  10. not 20 runza sandwiches: ACTUAL RUNZA STORES. can you imagine what type of circus it would be having mangino and the pelinis on staff at the same time? it would be epic fail or epic awesome with NOTHING in between.
  11. remember in the callahan years when we'd try and spin an 8 win season as a good year?

  12. I retract previous statements in other threads on the zone read in order to agree with you that it was good with rex and roy. They seem to be alot more decisive and with taylor it seemed to take forever to develope. the first 3 possessions of the 3rd qtr were the poorest excuse of playcalling ever. Never even attempted to seize what worked in the first half. As far as Caputo's bad snap, this puts Watson's incompetence into full view, we pick up great runs from Rex 3 plays prior to the bad snap, then after we put Taylor back in the pocket for a quick 3 and out. I answered my thoughts in the large bold above. thank you we understand.
  13. red shirt freshman + gimped-up feet = not so good a showing. i'm not going to say cody or zac could have done better, but i will say martinez might have had a better game if *he* were physically better. if cody felt that he could hit the burners and jet away from trouble, maybe he wouldn't have felt the compulsion to force some truly questionable throws. (cough cough *ENDZONE TURNOVER* cough) heck, if he were better, he might have had a better time planting his feet and making those throws. eh, whatever. bowl game and a possible 11 win season is nothing to sneeze at either.
  14. I don't see him going to Miami or a pro gig. but if the Ohio State job comes open (and it will, ohio state coaches NEVER have happy endings) i would expect bo to be on the VERY short list. and seeing as it is alma mater and in his home state, i really don't see him saying no.
  15. henery hands down. the boy is money in the bank when it comes to scoring.
  16. my friend in nigeria (who is a prince whom needs *my* help to withdraw a sizable amount of money from his bank account) says otherwise!
  17. this is the face of the enemy, people. know it well. memorize the smug look on his face. it will make winning the big xii championship that much sweeter.
  18. thanks for putting this all into perspective for us.
  19. ... take the touchback... ... what could that possibly mean..?
