The only team that I cannot root for in bowl season is Iowa.  Shouldn’t we care how our competitors fare against others? Doesn’t that make us look better if we come from stronger competition. It’s like ugly bridesmaids ruining the wedding picture. 

At 4-8, Nebraska is the fat girl who all her hot friends think is the smart and funny one. 

You still haven’t quantified your statement. You said yourself that you are in the minority with regards to rooting for other teams within our conference. I’ll tell you this: When our conference is stronger it commands respect. When we are winning it will command respect. They might not like us but they will respect us. What kind  of respect do you garner when you look down your nose at other teams within the conference?  Why be in a conference?  Yes, those other teams are our competition when we play them but when we’re not playing them I will root for them. You can’t tell me that you’re going to root for Texass when they play against Northwestern?  I’m afraid we will have to agree to disagree
