  1. I get the idea....not sure if I like it though. ESPN and ABC bring alot more TVs across the country for exposure purposes. I would like to see more Tier 3+ programming LIVE on the channel (i.e. Baseball, Volleyball, Softball, etc.).
  2. Great publicity for Lincoln on Tosh.0........old lady giving a rant about homosexuality on Ch. 5 Public Access from a city council mtg

I don't understand the appeal of that guy. Extremely unfunny. Almost Dane Cook bad.

The crazy blue lady rant was so facebook two weeks ago. ;)

"Judas was a homo and you have to choose between Jesus and Judas" was my favorite part.

  4. I just really don't get the re-seeding idea. (I mean I get it)----I just don't understand the logic behind it.
  5. Target Field awarded 2013 B1G Championship Baseball Tournament

  6. Glad I didn't go to the ballpark tonight.....ouch!

  8. Any guesses what the two pieces are at about 3 o'clock? They look like running shorts to me, which would be odd?
  9. Can someone enlighten me on what is going on at the Lincoln Airport this morning? I have seen no less than 5 planes larger than A320 or Boeing 737s with "United States of America" on the side.

More than likely part of the old "looking glass" program. WW3 planes, had a flagged officer on board and could take over national command authority, is other chains were knocked out. Anyway they do touch and goes and other pilot training because LNK is such a slow airport, and has a very long runway if anything goes wrong....

ah, I just moved to the SW side of town....guess I never noticed it before.

  10. Well the truth of the matter is that registration was full by the 1st of the year. Last year, I registered well into Feburary. I understand there won't be a hard number, but I believe a few more wanted to run. While on the subject of expansion..... 1. The expo was a NIGHTMARE! Not sure if it was just when I was there (5 PM on Sat), but there was a billizion (not actual number) people there. It will be something that will need to be altered in the future if the event is to grow. 2. HWY 2-I have always wondered why they can't use it, but it makes sense given the possible reasons above. The trail at times can be very crowded. I heard a lot of complaints from people in the 2:00 hr time frame finishers. The problem was that some people over-estimated their fitness, went out to hard, and by mile 7 were walking. On the trail they would run into people who would be running at a 9-10 Mile pace---you can't run 4 abreast on that trail very easily. I've wondered if they could use the residental neighborhood north of HWY 2 to cut across to the West? Just a thought.
  11. I will admit that there were some good "sights". The 20-30 year old female age group was well represented!!! An article out tonight claims they estimate that they turned 4,000 runners down. It also mentioned that they are looking at uping the limit to 15,000 next year. If true, would mean the race would nearly double in a span of two years....quite impressive.
  12. Lincoln (Half) Marathon: If you think your day sucked.....I watch someone run 13 miles of a 13.1 mile race---only to pass out and leave on a stretcher 100 yards from the finish.

  13. Results: Half: http://www.mtecresults.com/race/show/728 Full: http://www.mtecresults.com/race/show/727 The one weekend a year when Lincoln actually appears to be a running town. Great race and nice support from all the spectators of Lincoln! Looking forward to next year's race! (Debated putting this in "Other Sports"----but the Big Red Lounge won out)
  14. Anybody notice the crosswalk in the picture???
  15. The arguement about playing the Fall is what gets me. Certain people believe that having games in the fall will compliment the football games. I just dont buy it. At several schools in the conference, I don't see people heading over in droves to watch a college baseball game in the fall. Imagine a college baseball game at 2:30 in Lincoln with a home football game in primetime a 7. With traffic, parking, and tailgating concerns......who is realisticly going to want to stride over to Haymarket to watch the game? It would be even more of a ghost town if there was an away game at the same time!
  16. We most know didn't people. Everytime I was trying to find an extra tix for someone, they wanted some $$$ (generally double face-value). There was a few times, I found tix off of art or music students for cheap money. The Mildcats down south, have gone to E-Tix....where you print out the tickets (exactly what the University does here if you buy single game tix online or over the phone). This would still allow for tix to be sold.
  17. It was in regards to having a seperate league and playing games in the fall. Mainly, giving up on baseball as a conference and accepting that the B1G is a second-rate conference.
  18. "We've been overwhelmed with the fan response! We're taking a time out to ensure the intergrity of the vote. Check back for Updates.
  19. I still remember Michelle Beadle's face when they announced the results of the Michigan/Nebraska vote from last year......priceless! I feel something similar coming on....
  20. After listening to the Purdue coach yesterday on the radio give his rant about fall games........smash 'em HUSKERS!
  21. Are they doing renovations to the OSU park? There appears to be a lot of what looks like construction equipment along the outside of the fence and in the parking lot. On a side note.....the field itself at Hawks was in EXCELLENT condition when I was there last Friday. The mild winter did help in that department.
  22. Also you have to understand at all schools, the primary sponser(addidas of course for NU) only provides so much stuff as part of their deal, and the school pays for a lot of things from them. Baseball has more players, so that is uni's, batting gloves, etc, for more athletes than the 12-14 guys on a basketball team. Both true......the track and field team (any program outside of VB, BBall, and FB really) gets only so much clothes and shoes, but alot of it is "bought" at a very signifacant markdown, taken out of the budget. But, I had been told that Adidas is alot better at supporting the non-revenue sports than Nike. General Statment (not directed at anyone-just a general rant): And please don't try and tell me that just because your NAIA school/High School etc wore Nike unifroms that Nike is "sponsoring" you in any way shape or form.
