This spring/summer has been the first time I've fully invested my time, money and energy into my yard and it's been a great learning experience. Can really tell that my grass is greener compared to my neighbors
Plus it helps get you out of more mundane house chores. Be sure to complain about how much work it is to take care of the yard that way your wife may actually believe you're pulling your weight around there.
That's been a sticking point with my old man since I can remember. Always told me you can tell a lot about a person by how they maintain their yard. I read somewhere that June has been 6 degrees warmer on average each day than normal. Sounds like you picked a good time to prioritize it.
When the grass thins out the weeds come in and then you have to deal with weed seeds for a long time. I think maintaining a lawn is much less work then trying to get one back into shape. Get off my lawn.
