Don't get me wrong I love history, and love the city of Paris and all it's marvelous works. It's just ironic that everyone is upset about the material of a religious structure. I'll shut up before this goes into no-no territory...
I'm not even considering that it's of religious significance, though that is likely why it has been salvaged a few other times and why it is still standing today. I just appreciate the age of it and the architectural importance. But I may be a little weird, I studied architecture in college.
