How many QBs do NFL teams typically have on their roster at a time? I could maybe see a team taking him on as a long-term project in hopes that they can teach him to read a defense, but he's not even gonna be ready to be a #2 guy next year, let alone #1.

Lee threw twice as many picks in 2017 as Armstrong did in 2016. Even considering that Lee had more attempts than Armstrong, it's still pretty crazy.

Interesting possibility, but how often do you actually see a situation where a team has a good starter but awful depth, yet still redshirts a stud? I think in most situations like that, the freshman would go straight to top backup without redshirting.

As far as what to expect next year, I'd say look at Texas this year. A lot of people have called Frost this year's Tom Herman, after all. The media was so hot on Herman that the preseason polls actually had Texas ranked, but that was obviously nuts when they'd just went 5-7 the year before. I don't expect them to make that same mistake with Frost. In the end they went 7-6, with a single victory against a ranked opponent, #24 West Virginia. A definite improvement, but not exactly a "we're back" kind of performance that gets people excited.

The difference between Tom Osborne Nice and Mike Riley Nice. Osborne was a Nice Guy, but he could still be a total hardass as a coach, and would never accept a lack of effort from his scout team players, let alone his starters. Mike Riley... not so much. He never took control of his team, and as much as some wanted to blame Bo for that, let's be real: he never would have. And this will probably rustle some Jimmies, but there's another coach that I really think would have had the same problem: Turner Gill. Yes, KU is a less than ideal place to coach football, but as much as anything his problem there was that he never took control of his players. Some guys have the personality for it, some don't.

Yeah, the committee doesn't release another ranking at the end. AFAIK the AP poll is totally independent, they could theoretically vote for someone not in the playoff (like UCF) as #1. I wanna say the coaches poll is semi-independent, they were contractually obligated to vote the BCS champ as #1 and I think it's the same way with the CFP. The coaches poll winner is also the team that gets the crystal football, which is still given alongside the CFP trophy, albeit in a separate ceremony.

The final CFP committee rankings? A hundred bucks says they'll be ranked #12. (Hint: The final playoff committee rankings were released a few weeks ago.)
