  1. This is going to a crazy and frustrating game for both teams. Lots of scoring and not a whole lot of stops. Couple things from an Oregon stand point. - Defense played much better/aggressive/on fire under Leavitt - Justin Herbert is 1000000x the QB Prukop was in last years game - Royce is healthy, strong, and playing with a purpose not seen before - Glad to see the quick tempo back that Helfrich got away from Concerns - Defensive Line, how good/bad are they? Need to pressure Lee. - Can secondary hold up against inexperienced but talented NU receivers - Special Teams (Don't kick to spielman and always punt to the sideline)
  2. 35-32 is "piss pounding the sh#t out of" someone? I'll make sure I store that tidbit away for when I try to accurately analyze an outcome
  3. If you think coaches at the college level don't prepare their athletes for the scenarios that aren't shown on film you are living under a rock or have never been a part of a coaching staff. We do that at the HS level. Rough first game. A lot of other programs also had rough go's. It's going to be alright......right?
  4. I want to say the rule in place for equipment coming off is that the clock has to stop until the player leaves the field...
  5. I'm so sick of hearing this in the last couple hours every where I look. Look at the replay! His helmet was coming off as he hit the ground and was twisted on his face.
  6. Breakdown of Friday night HS game at 8am.....done by 11 to start the college day. As Redux mentioned the FSU/Bama game. I typically wouldn't care to watch it since it's first week, but because of the possibility of Bama/FSU playing week 1 and then again in the national title game would be very interesting to see the progress the loser has made. As for the topic. My parents are coming up to see the grandchild so we are grilling burgers and the like for the game. I'll have 3 tv's going. Bama/FSU on at the bar downstairs. NU game on the main tv and Oregon on the upstairs tv. All of which will be DVR'd because I want to be able to watch all 3 in depth.
  7. Maybe they need to rethink the mascot name if it bothers them so much.
  8. Oregon "GUN CONFISCATION" signed into law. I'm sick of seeing misleading bs uber-right sites with these head lines on my facebook!

People! Please read the real information! I'm not even an anti gun person but I'm not about to side with morons.

I think I saw this one on FB a few days ago. I only started FB to see my family's pics.  It is such a wasteland now!  Polluted by far right and left garbage.

The truth to falsehood ratio on those so-called alt-right news sites is about 1/10, and that might be pretty generous. It is so discouraging to see them be shared as much as they are, by people who *really* should know better. Are people really that stupid, or is it that people are simply no longer interested in truth as long as ideology is served?

Yup, as an avid gun owner/shooter, I hate that stuff. Misinformation (or actual FAKE NEWS) is the worst.

  9. This bothers me. I focus on my wife and son, my job and my students (and athletes) far more than politics. Does this make me a nazi? I don't think the bolded really applies. Feels like that addition to the comment suggests that those who steer clear from politics (largely) have no empathy. I don't agree with that notion.
  10. Matty you may also know the answer to this question...cuz I don't. Especially with Hufanga if 247 has him as warm on Oregon State, Oregon, and Alabama. Cool on everyone else. I have also seen his top 9. How exactly do they (247) know who he's warm on and cool on if he's announced a top 9, but appears as a top 3 in his list of schools...? That felt jumbled and unclear but hopefully you know what I'm asking...
  11. The only thing in that article that I gathered was that he's a family guy. Which also is highly likely he's not leaving the state.
  12. Well and the other thing is the NU has a QB that is a far more competent passer than what they had last year. Good thing this sort of thing doesn't matter in games because it would be a long year for NU being that far down the list!
  13. "Earning" a black shirt is stupid. If you start you should get one
  14. Nebraska will beat Wisconsin. Easy. They will struggle at Oregon cuz it's early and get on a roll. Lose to Ohio State just because of a shear talent mismatch. Then wins out. 10-2
  15. Not a fan. The last time a message board I loved changed its format. It died.

That is not the case, ATB. This is basically an off the shelf message board software.

As noted on the site footer, we run Invision's message board software. Support for versions 3.x.x, which we had been running for some time, ended a few months ago (at least?), which made a jump to 4.x.x, which was first released in 2015, inevitable. IPS is currently on 4.2.

It doesn't "force" an upgrade, but it's a little like when Microsoft for example stopped supporting Windows XP with security patches. So we chose to upgrade, but it was long, long overdue.

I was just curious, that's all. I don't remember seeing that footer on the old site, so that makes sense.

  16. Yo dude. We gotta get some positive vibes going before NU comes to town! Last year was the worst season since...1991 and only the second losing season since 1994! It'll be a great game.
  17. The prevalence of confederate flags in seeing on Facebook is disturbing.

Dude, that's awful. It's definitely not limited to the South. Those cowardly asswipes are everywhere. Makes me sick.

OWH had an article about a month ago who lives in Omaha area and flies a confederate battle flag in front of his home. Of course he tried to say he wasn't racist and had a lame reason why he flew the flag.

  18. I kind of see where you're coming from Coach. Yes, it comes from being close minded, but too much information is not the problem. The problem is people not being comfortable challenging their beliefs, opinions, habits, etc. The problem is people only wanting to see what they want to see. I'm guilty of it many times, but I try my best to make an effort to self evaluate and listen to, read, and digest opinions different than my own. Too much information is not the issue. User error is. The loss of crtical thinking among our population is crippling us. As a teacher I imagine you see that first hand. All the time. Students and athletes are constantly being spoon fed information because a lack of patience from the adult to wait on an answer or a lack of patience/effort from the student or athlete to find the answer. The other day while at practice during our indy time with OL. We were going over schemes in our counter option and counter trap...talking about our first available puller kicking out or logging the DE. Basically it can be either of the guards or the center depending on alignment of the DL. So I posed this question... Why wouldn't we pull the tackle on the play side? Easy question because he's the end guy on the line thats not split out. My kids sat there scratching their heads, hesitating....as I waited, I gave them the hint of "think about where the play is going, and what formation we are in"...more hesitation. I don't know if its becuase they are scared to be wrong or what but I'm looking for 1. Ability to understand scheme. 2. Assertiveness. Eventually they got it with a little more help but I won't just give answers because even in football athletes don't need to just "go where coach told me" athletes need to understand and be taught the theory and the why.
  19. There is a freaking problem in this country from a social acceptance stand point. Radicalization comes from being "close-minded" and social media/internet. I'm convinced that a common theme among either side becoming so upset with the other is due to the pure exposure to it. It's a sad obsession. One that I see in my god forsaken father-in-law and also my wife's sister's boyfriend who lives in Nashville. It's a step by step process. You have a view point on life that is developed through your up bringing before and through college. You start making decisions based on those beliefs and then you read opinion pieces by agenda driven news outlets (each outlet has an agenda). From here is when you start the ridiculously repetitive cycle of.... 1. Read dog poo opinion media piece (left or right) 2. Get pissed off. 3. Spew through whatever avenue/platform you wish (facebook, twitter, huskerboard, face to face) 4. Put toe into the quick sand of self made "depression" or in the case of my father in law or sis in law's bf "paranoia" When someone does this. They are truly awful to be around because their lives are so completely entrenched into this cycle that they become isolated. Isolation is definitely when things get worse. It can take a person from not being a threat, to being a total threat. There's nothing keeping that person from acting out because odds are, he ain't with a woman unless that woman is also caught in the cycle, probably has no kids...etc. LOMS had a great tweet today about the people that love/promote "white privilege" never look like they belong in that category....or something along those lines. Through all of this, the main issue is people obsession with information, regardless of stance, through the internet. The internet is a wonderful tool, but I truly believe it set us on this path of divide. I truly think Trump is the worst guy for the job of healing the divide, but, my hope for him as president was to tackle economy and American business. I didn't want him to get caught up in the social (in)justice war that currently feels like it will never improve.
