  1. Our roster is looking a little thin... and 3 true freshman. Isn't this supposed to be about the time, Miles is supposed to be starting to show the benefits of his recruits maturing, coming of age.
  2. Let's hope he gets some more love from the officials.
  3. Although I think Turman's success, was a testament to all the machinery which surrounded him.
  4. I wonder if he'll ever be 100% of what he was in his freshman season.
  5. I'm surprised no one has suggested the possibility, that most of a season out with the blood clotting, could have quelled Tommie's exposure to the extent, he didn't have the momentum to more easily get the Heisman the following season.
  6. Unfortunately, 80-90% of 75% (his maximum potential) is still only 60 to 68%.
  7. I sprung for club seats again... let's my wife and I feel important for one 'game' each year.
  8. When considering those recruiting rankings over time, keep in mind, the further separated each class of these kids are from memory of the 'Nebraska golden age', the tougher it is to sell them on coming to flat, frigid, flyover country to play football. Each successive staff has an incrementally tougher job. We need to start winning some division/conference titles. I commend Riley/company on some impressive recruiting wins.
  9. Doh... and fixed just as quick as I noticed it... back to #25.
  10. I assume there's some kind of problem with the Rivals site... we're showing at #11?? (MIchigan below us)
  11. Even when Beck ran to setup the pass for Tommy, Tommy found a way to make bad decisions. Tommy found plenty of ways to lose, even when playing in 'his system'. He had a great game the other night, but he's just too streaky to lead us to a conference title. We need a Cook/Beathard to distribute the ball around, and not just to the one guy Tommy locks in on. It's even more critical, that we have a consistent passing game, when the defense knows it's coming on 3rd down. That said, I imagine we'll have to endure one more year with him until an alternative is developed.
  12. Lost on many seems to be, this was against a team which ranked 88th in the nation against the run. Of course we had success running the ball, of course it was a priority. It became more difficult as they loaded up the box. If the game had to go on another quarter, I fear Tommy's decision making might have begun to become a factor. Tommy had a great game, but the fact remains... he's too streaky, even when playing 'in his system'. It was the same under Pelini. We may have to give up a little mobility, but we will benefit long term, in a quarterback who can make more consistent completions, see all his receivers. We have a lot of play makers, the quarterback just needs to get the ball to them.
  13. UCLA immediately went to work on our perimeter, just as Iowa did with their running game... and it was apparent that the loss of Gerry hurt. Fortunately we bent, but didn't break.
  14. Does anyone else get depressed when Cross/Ozigbo are interrupted with more ineffective Newby??
  15. A little patience and support would be a good start. We're developing, if haven't already developed, a reputation as a coaches revolving door.
  16. You're kidding me... we beat the conference champion, and take the runner up to the wire... and we're not happy with the challenge of getting paired up with a UCLA??
  17. I take encouragement, in seeing a new, much more mature head coach, who far better represents the university/state, getting his new players to compete in every game they played in, while adopting his entirely new system, while at the same time dealing with the adversity of unprecedented injuries and the lack of a quarterback who can excel in ANY system (9-wins was an anomaly to this point, all the 50/50 luck which enabled Tommy to pull out a few victories in the past, tilting the opposite direction this season, he's not a good quarterback)... oh, and in spite of the negative collective aura which some of the shittiest, most un-supportive fans in college football have brought on. If this program is ultimately brought to the very bottom, it's because it's fans have dragged it there, expecting some entitlement of national relevance of decades past, which otherwise must be earned, like every other school it competes with.
  18. It's a testament, that their QB has a pass play which he's good at.
  19. I can't help but feel... big disappointment awaits the B1G in the college football playoff.
  20. First time starter QB, during first year of new head coach/system, with unprecedented injuries, oh and Nebraska still a 'prestige win' for a struggling program... it's not that shocking that Purdue pulled it off this year.
  21. Martinez tried to do it all himself, made way too many mistakes. Contrary to what people around here think, we have a lot of play makers, we just need a QB that can distribute the ball to them. We haven't had a truly good decision maker at QB since Ganz.
  22. We had the 7th best rush offense in the conference, and it would be better if our opponents had any respect for our passing game. Get a QB who possesses decent mechanics (so tired of hearing that theme through Martinez/Armstrong), can make high percentage passes, and can see more than one receiver downfield! Watching Michigan State and Iowa play... we are literally a QB away from being at the top of this conference.
  23. The thing about Tommy is, whatever the offensive philosophy, he's going to make bad decisions and demonstrate poor mechanics, leading to turnovers. I'm sure Langsdorf, Beck, Favre, others have worked with him on it, he just can't shake his bad habits, and he just doesn't have game speed decision making abilities. We've been at this for three years, it won't get any better, time to move on.
