  1. Wisc Neb Net Yards Rushing 147 196 Rushes 34 37 Yards Per Rush 4.3 5.3
  2. You're kidding right? Give me a break, the only reason we have the sell out streak, is because we were lucky enough to have had decades of success. It's just taken that much longer to come to the realization, that it's slipping away. Now is the time to show you're a real fan, and support the staff and players as they work to win games. Nebraska fans are just as 'fair weather' as any others, we've just been spoiled by the success.
  3. Patience, is not waiting through 3 coaching regimes, and then expecting the next one to be an instant success. Personally, I think we should have given Solich and Callahan more time, and Pelini should have been canned for his behavior alone. The first two firings, were the result of the unrealistic expectations which we are just now, hopefully, beginning to rid ourselves of, from decades of very unusual success.
  4. Tommy is going to be Tommy, whoever he's playing for. Just too many peaks/valleys. Let's find someone who, while maybe not possessing the ability to beat someone with their legs, can at least make the short/high percentage passes. We have enough playmakers to pick up the slack there, Tommy just can't get the ball to them consistently.
  5. It's the same situation if it's Pelini's regime. Too many bad decisions, not making reads, not to speak of 'mechanics'.
  6. Losing is no fun, but I don't miss Bo at all. There's no question, this team is improving overall. In the past two games, the most evident issue presenting itself, is that we need to wait a year or two before we're able to fill a gaping position hole on offense.
  7. We just need to exorcise the unrealistic expectation demons which have so gripped Husker nation over 3 decades. We're no longer starting a season with a shot at a national title, much less a conference title. Our previous coach gave us an unrealistic feeling of national relevance at the expense of respectability with his sideline demeanor. It's time to take several steps back, take a few spoonfuls of humility, understand the situation, give this staff time to make this team their own. This truly is where the real fans show up. Time to support your team.
  8. What is the story on Darlington, is he looking that bad in practice? He looked like the only QB who was going through progressions during the Spring game, he looked great. I honestly think this offense is pretty good, if we have a QB who can make those reads, and throw a few more short/high percentage passes. As much as I like Tommy's run threat, we need to get out of 3rd down too many times, and he cannot consistently make the throws, and I cringe every time he throws downfield, it's really just a jump ball, and lately, more often into double coverage. I'm actually upbeat on this team, the defense is starting to look better. For those who suggested, they lost it on the last drive, that is ridiculous. They did great all game to that point, and were forced to be on the field way too much, by our in ability to convert on offense. I'm surprised it was as close as it was. The defensive formula is a good one for the Big 10. We are stopping the run, and the secondary is improving. The last two games, were on the offense. The running games is actually looking pretty decent too, we're making 3rd and manageable. Tommy just needs to be able to find the open guy, and make the pitch/catch passes.
  9. This is kind of what I thought after watching some of this while flipping back and forth for the Husker-USM game Thank you. I would also like to suggest (I assume the assertion has been made elsewhere, I'm not a frequent visitor here) that this is one of the tougher non-conference line-ups which we've had in years.
  10. I don't think you're giving BYU fans enough credit. BYU is arguably one of the most successful of the non power-5 programs. I think they've been wanting this game for DECADES, they KNOW who Nebraska is. It's unfortunate that we're a program in transition when it has to happen though.
  11. Samsung has a radical idea to bring back the flip phone http://www.businessinsider.com/samsung-flip-phone-patent-2015-7#ixzz3hiklLcuzhttp://www.businessinsider.com/samsung-flip-phone-patent-2015-7
  12. He just wasn't very good... reminded me of Beck... lots of stars, flash in the pan. Recruiting rankings mean nothing.
  13. For a while there, he really was something though, wasn't he https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21mYRtUmc8k
  14. They must have really seen something in Bush during practice... because he got way too much playing time. It looks like about half of the folks here are seeing the same thing I'm seeing... Armstrong has absolutely no head for this offense. Let's face it... he's peaked, at a level.. only slightly better than Martinez.
  15. What exactly did Tommy do?? 50% passing... 7 yards rushing. Darlington looked far better out there. If we're going to rank this by past game experience, then I guess you give it to Armstrong.
  16. Honestly, for this system... I only saw one guy making good reads, showing decent accuracy to the right guy... and he's the guy who is one concussion away from the end of his career. I think this first season is going to be tough on offense.
  17. Yeah, I'm with Emerald... why is Broekmeier getting no love?? and I think Darlington looked far more poised than Armstrong, who continues to make ill advised throws. Stanton definitely has issues... I would have put him below Fyfe. Bush seems like he's forcing stuff, like Armstrong. I think Darlington and Broekmeier show most potential in Riley's offense (although I'll start cringing when Zach starts taking hits). When does Del Rio arrive on campus??
  18. I'm with JJ... just give me a team that will compete through 4 quarters. I won't even be horribly upset if we don't make it to a bowl the first season, while we re-tool... just show me some incremental progress.
  19. In the past, I've always enjoyed the Spring game... the opportunity it's provided to 'live it up' with the whole family. I'd usually get club seats, which I could never afford otherwise. This year however, I'm just going to enjoy surveying the new staff/schemes on TV.
  20. I'm just so happy that Scott Frost is not our head coach... it's funny the negative nannies will laud someone who has absolutely no head coaching experience. I guess there must be some psychological appeal to someone who's never lost a game.
  21. When I first saw GT playing Miami... I thought I was watching Millard North. They're fun to watch too.
