I talked to the folks at AT&T last night. (No Apple store in my tiny hometown. lol). They said I could take an iPad Pro 10.5" out for a 14 day trial. (Could return it if I want w/i the 14 days.) The iPad hardware would come at a steep discount if I buy it from the AT&T store--so long as I sign my firstborn away with a couple year AT&T contract. (I already use AT&T anyway.)

Re-Surface. We were not happy about giving up our Dell laptops because they were a solid piece of equipment. The Surface Pro was so flimsy. We couldn’t transfer the data from the Dell to the Surface very easily and when you took the keyboard off and just used the Pad-nightmare. I will confess that there was emotion present and I’ve never been a Microsoft fan having always used Apple products except for very early on when we used Atari.
You have to buy what fits your computer style and usage. If you are a Microsoft user then you will love Surface Pro. However, I’m glad you get to try the iPad.

I've flip-flopped on this thing a couple times now. The iPad can handle a lot of basic work stuff; MS Word, Excel, etc. But iPad doesn't have a couple of programs that I use a lot. Like Outlook (email) and Visio. I could replace Outlook by simply getting used to a new email application. No big deal. But I have dozens, maybe hundreds of Visio files that I've drawn and sometimes need to edit. That would more of a hassle. OTOH, the iPad tablet capabilities with the pen and all would be useful and sorta cool. So there's that.
