  1. Top 10 nationally in May. Top 10 in conference in November. But this year will be different!
  2. Once again we have a top ten defense!! In May anyway. /sorry. lol
  3. Wow, this thing is so weird it sounds like something a sci-fi writer made up. Every bit as weird as the creature from the movie Alien.
  4. I wish I was so rich that photos of me would go viral if I wore too much sun screen.
  5. Another thing to think about here is that, when a recruit arrives on campus he's probably not going to contribute for a couple or three years regardless of how talented he is. It's rare that a true frosh gets significant playing time. (With some notable exceptions. Like Wan'dale.) The lag in contributing means that whoever did the recruiting 2 to 3 years before largely determines the talent level on the field. Riley pulled in some good recruits. But most of his best recruits left when he did. The cupboard was pretty bare for Frost's first couple of years. But that excuse has pretty much expired now that we're headed into Frost year 4.
  6. The CU debacle didn't start the dismantling of Huskers dynasty. It just exposed us for the paper tigers we were that year. We ranked in the top 5 all season. But we were not a top 5 team. We beat a mediocre K-state team in Lincoln by 10 the week before CU. I think that's about how good we were. I have no idea how we managed to be #2 Oklahoma earlier in the season.
  7. Great video about Jordan Burroughs early years as a wrestler, and his recruitment to NU.
  8. How is it possible that someone who looks like that can be a competitive eater?? She's skinny! (Eating starts at 1:40)
  9. He's slowly getting better. Still chews some stuff up. But not like it was when I first got him. I think he's finally figured out that chewing up wood scraps isn't a good idea.
  10. Reagan, ugh! Why did people like that guy so much? Contrary to his rhetoric, gov't got bigger and far deeper in debt on Reagan's watch. (I guess the national debt goes hand-in-hand with big gov't, right?) Bill Clinton actually helped reverse this trend. Wasn't that the last time we had a balanced budget--under Clinton? Then came Obama. Ay carumba! Time will tell as to what this chart looks like in four year.
  11. Part of the reason we're on that list is because Vincent Valentine and Maliek Collins both left early to enter the 2016 draft. If the two DTs had stayed we'd have 8 picks from '17 to '21. Nothing to brag about, but not on the list. (btw, We had four guys taken in the 2016 draft.) Those two DTs leaving early hurt us a lot more than most people realize. /jmho
  12. Maybe. But Turner Gill would give him a run for his money. Gill had a great arm. But we didn't run the right offense back then to use it much.
  13. Bomb squad called in after jogger finds "hand grenade" By DAVID PESCOVITZ 9:35 AM WED APR 28, 2021 In Passau, Germany, a jogger noticed a clear plastic bag containing a hand grenade. Police brought in the bomb squad who determined that the grenade was actually a rubber sex toy. LINK
  14. Well, it is nice to see all the demographic groups coming together in a cooperative event! Old, young, white, black, Latino—let's all get some free stuff!!
  15. I agree with this now. Initially I was a bit reluctant to get him. But he's turned out to be very friendly; not a bit aggressive at all. Even friendly to the cat. Well, except he's not friendly to squirrels. Squirrels are the bane of his existence. He hates them. Every time we get home he spends a couple minutes running around the back yard chasing the squirrels up into the trees. I look forward to the day he finally catches one.
  16. If there was going to be a recount it should have happened back in Nov/Dec. As for whether it should have happened back then, why not? If a certain group of people (the winners) think the vote was accurate then why would they oppose a recount? Presumably the recount would be documented and both sides would have a hand in it—or at least both sides would know how it's being done and what's going on. I guess I just don't understand the downside of a recount—assuming there's nothing to hide, that is. A recount done back in Nov/Dec would have settled the issue once and for all. Too late now though. Way too late.
  17. The Human Society told me he's a terrier mix. About half that mix is pit bull. (I didn't want any part of getting a pit bull. The Humane Society didn't tell me until I'd already picked him out and was in the process of getting him.) It might be from being bored, sometimes a bit jealous. He's with me most of the time during the day. I'm self employed so I bring him to work with me. He's sleeping on the couch five feet from my desk right now. Sometimes he'll start chewing on something if I'm ten feet away but not paying attention to him. btw, He looks a lot like the brindle dog in the video you posted. A lot!
  18. Both. It's mostly when I'm not right there with him. Yesterday afternoon I was smoking a cigar with a couple buddies on the back balcony at work. When we came inside he had chewed the strap off my buddy's gym bag. He'll chew stuff 10 feet away from me if I'm not paying attention to him. He's 14 months old now. So, not really a puppy anymore. More like a naughty teenager. I hope he outgrows it. I do have a large kennel, but I'm reluctant to put him in it. I may have to resort to it at some point.
  19. Any suggestions about how to break a dog from chewing stuff up? I've tried getting him chew toys. But he chews them up. The new dog I got a few weeks ago (14 months old) is a chewer. He's chewed up a great number of things, including: a volleyball, a softball, a tennis ball, about a bunch of old golf balls (he actually chewed the covers off some), set of plastic toy soldiers, several matchbox cars, chewed his rope in two, his leather leash, about a hundred wood scraps (I don't mind these except they're bad for him), rubber chew bone (I thought they were indestructible!), several books in my office, a bible and a book about Elisha (he's the devil dog!), the strap off my buddy's gym bag, a paint bucket, the corner of a chair, a file folder with work papers in it, roll of paper towels, several news papers, ink pen, my reading glasses, heavy wooden door stop, several magazines, a bunch of cardboard boxes, wool sweater, an empty can of Van Camp pork and beans (he actually punctured the can in several places! Sure glad he doesn't bite.), two shoes (from different pairs), a phone book (why do they still deliver these anyway?), chewed the corner off a dehumidifier, a Sharpie marker, assorted misc. trash that he pulls out of the waste basket, four reams of printer paper (500 sheets per ream), fancy U.S. flag with gold fringe around the edge (I caught him as he was starting to chew this and saved it.), small notepad of scratch paper, plastic template for drawing lines on golf balls, and another small Sharpie marker, the lid on a bucket of golf balls, and another half dozen golf balls, a book about the human brain, chewed the corners off two more books: Golf Rules Explained and The Layman's Bible Encyclopedia, another phone book (they put another one through the mail slot!), a small children's recliner chair, a plastic bucket, a pot full of flowers I'd planted 45 minutes before, a shoe insert, some more golf balls, an 18" child's rubber ball (the ball was 18", not the child), a clear plastic box, etc. I have a lot of patience with animals. But I think he's approaching the end of it. Edit: I'll keep updating this list. Since I imagine this will be an ongoing situation.
  20. 'Funky pickles' seized by Border Protection turn out to be $4 million worth of meth By Rachel Trent, CNN Updated 1:47 PM ET, Sun April 25, 2021 LINK
  21. Very sorry to hear you've been under the weather. I hope you're feeling better! I've never had a problem with your recipes clogging up the board. But they might be better organized if you'd start one thread for each category. For example, the "Roxy pasta thread". You could put all your pasta recipes into one thread. That way you would only have a handful of threads which would stay on the front page of the Recipe forum. Just a suggestion.
  22. I question both selections. Trev's career was plagued by a series of injuries. How could that be predicted? He was never able to hit full stride in the NFL. It wasn't a bad pick just because the guy got injured--although 5th in the first round may have been a bit too high for him. (I had to look that up. lol) It wasn't like LP's off-the-field problems were kept secret. He was a known quantity. LP's talent was never the issue. But the Rams took a gamble on a head case, thinking he could pull it together. The gamble didn't pay off.
  23. Ugh! My lawn is about a week overdue for the first mow. So I finally got the mower out yesterday afternoon. Dang thing wouldn’t start. I tried everything I could think of: Drained the gas tank and put in new gas. Fiddled with the kill switch pull wire. Cleaned the spark plug. Gapped it. Got a new spark plug. New air filter. Tried it without an air filter. Took apart the air filter bracket and blew out the carburetor with an air hose. (I had to make a new carb gasket because the old one tore.) Finally, after a couple hours of fooling around with it, I gave up. As I was getting ready for work this AM, I thought I’d try one more thing: I used a pair of Vice-grips to tie the kill switch lever forward at the engine. First crank it fired right up! I hate lawn mowing.
  24. Remember when small town bars had a full sized shuffle board table? That was a fun game.
