  1. Awesome! This has got to be the first football player we've had from Australia, right?
  2. It hasn't been proven to us (fans) that incoming talent is better than outgoing. But the staff knows. They do all sorts of testing each year and in each camp. They know who their best players are. And where our roster is weak too. But you're right--it does take at least two years for us fans to get a decent gauge of player talent. I agree that incoming talent is better than outgoing. It absolutely has to be. Just look at the huge exodus of talent after Mike Riley got fired. The guys who voluntarily left after Riley's departure were among the most talented on the roster.
  3. Are hospitals getting a federal payment for each Covid-19 death?

@commando that wasn't really called for. Nuance seems to have genuine questions and is brave enough to ask them in a public forum. Some people haven't followed this as close as others, and may not understand it as well as you do. Being a jerk doesn't really encourage them to learn more.

As to your hospice death @NUance, if she had COVID-19 odds are it accelerated her condition and was at least partially responsible for her death. I would trust the doctor's diagnosis (that's what they trained for). There are a number of symptoms and complications related to COVOD-19, one of which is cardiac issues as was noted before.

If you're a hemophiliac who is shot and bleeds-out did you die from hemophilia or a gunshot wound?

thing is....it's the entire right wing that is swinging towards saying that the y are overcounted  my question is  if they are actually overcounted...what is causing all the extra deaths?

Then ask that question and don't be condescending about it. It's not that hard.

  4. This thread is full of off-season win!
  5. "These are God's People". An excellent overview of the bible from a historical perspective. I read this last year. It was so good (and I want to learn more) that I'm re-reading it. I just started the section covering Jesus' life this morning. I'm also reading "That's In The Bible". But it's not so much a book as it is a series of quizzes. Each chapter has a short intro on the topic though.
  6. I see what your intent is, but I think you mean to open the draft up to everyone rather than eliminate it. The main point of the draft is to allocate talent across the league rather than letting the wealthy markets accumulate all the talent and dominate.
  7. I agree with the second part. Players should be able to consult with agents about their draft potential. Then again, I'm not too confident that agents would be truthful about their advice.
  8. Yeah, I don't necessarily disagree with his comments that I've read. But I do think it's poor form on his part to take parting shots at us after commiting to Iowa. He would have been better off to take the high road and not say anything. /jmho
  9. I dunno. What did he say that you disagree with? We are not the same program as we were 25 years ago. That's pretty much what he said: “At the end of the day times have changed. No knock on Nebraska’s program but it’s not the same as when (Clester) played,” Keagan told the Omaha World-Herald. “He’s always been open-minded, and I am blessed that I can start my own legacy and I don’t have to follow his footsteps. He has always preached that to me.”
  10. 99% of Those Who Died From Virus Had Other Illness, Italy Says By Tommaso Ebhardt, Chiara Remondini, and Marco Bertacche March 18, 2020, 7:56 AM CDT More than 99% of Italy’s coronavirus fatalities were people who suffered from previous medical conditions, according to a study by the country’s national health authority. After deaths from the virus reached more than 2,500, with a 150% increase in the past week, health authorities have been combing through data to provide clues to help combat the spread of the disease. 11. Fight COVID-19 with dairy? China industry associations issue consumption guidelines to ‘build immune resistance’ 17-Mar-2020 By Pearly Neo Four major dairy industry associations in China have formed a set of guidelines for dairy and dairy product consumption for local residents in the hope of strengthening the public's immune health amid the COVID-19 novel coronavirus outbreak. LINK ================================================== To hell with experimental vaccines and ingesting disinfectants. I'm gonna drink a glass of chocolate milk!
  12. Winningest coach in NFL history with 328 wins. To put that in perspective, Tom Landry is at 4th on the list with 250 wins. RIP coach Shula.
  13. I wonder whether this version is one size fits all, or certain characteristics could be tweaked to make it more user friendly. It's usable. But we definitely took a step backwards from the version running a couple years ago.
  14. Might be the toughest 53 year old in the world. Most boxers and MMA fighters are pretty beat up by the time they reach their fifth decade.
  15. I hate the look and the operation of the current rev's quote function. The quoted text just doesn't stand out like it used to. And it's harder to edit when creating posts. Sometimes it's hard to cut-and-paste a quote within the post editing box. On a previous version you could type in the characters around a block of text to set it apart as a quote (last version maybe? or two versions ago). You can't do this anymore. I've gotten used to only having a single quote in a post rather than multiple nested quotes we used to have in previous revisions. Although I did like the multiple nested quotes better. It made it easier to follow a conversation. So there's that. Oh well.
  16. Devaney was a world class head coach. But sometimes a person's skills don't translate as well in the next position up. I don't know enough about the goings on in the athletic dept to know whether Devaney was a good AD or not. It's sort of like the skill set difference between the entrepreneur who starts and company and the CEO who runs an established company. Sometimes the entrepreneur doesn't do too well at running the company he founded ten years before. So there's that.
  17. Study claiming new coronavirus can be transmitted by people without symptoms was flawed By Kai Kupferschmidt Feb. 3, 2020 , 5:30 PM A paper published on 30 January in The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) about the first four people in Germany infected with a novel coronavirus made many headlines because it seemed to confirm what public health experts feared: that someone who has no symptoms from infection with the virus, named 2019-nCoV, can still transmit it to others. That might make controlling the virus much harder. Chinese researchers had previously suggested asymptomatic people might transmit the virus but had not presented clear-cut evidence. “There’s no doubt after reading [the NEJM] paper that asymptomatic transmission is occurring,” Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told journalists. “This study lays the question to rest.” But now, it turns out that information was wrong. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the German government’s public health agency, has written a letter to NEJM to set the record straight, even though it was not involved in the paper. LINK ======================================================= This is an old article. (Feb. 3) But we're still operating under the premise that Covid-19 is spread by those showing no symptoms. Then there's this more recent NPR article that says Covid-19 CAN be spread by those with no symptoms. LINK So who's to know? I guess I put more stock in the recent NPR article than the one posted above.
  18. I didn't realize it was so clear cut. Well then, I guess I was sexually assaulted over a dozen times during my college days at UNL. Maybe I should have made a big stink about it and gotten each of those evil college girls in trouble for those criminal butt grabs. Instead I just laughed it off. Silly me.
