  1. Looks like he was arrested over the weekend along with 8 other Tennessee volunteers. Cant remember if he went the huco route or just sat out a year? And why we never recruited him again.
  2. you have to respect the hell out of mora for what he did. was not much of a fan until i watched that video. good for him.
  3. last years southern miss game was the hottest game i've ever been to. we were by the band so we didnt get any shade all day.
  4. DE- Ankrah - McMullen DT - Thadd - Valentine DT - Curry - Nickens DE - Gregory - Moss Buck - Afalava - Rose Mike - Santos - Banderas Will - Zaire - Gerry CB - Mitchell - Rose CB - SJB - Seisay Nickel - Evans - A. Green FS - H. Jackson - C. Jackson SS - C Cooper - C. Jackson Dime DB - Seisay - Gerry Dime LB - Zarie - Santos The DB's will all get pt. i dont think it will be until conference starts that we will have a set rotation there. Same with the D line. I just dont want to see Bo burn a redshirt for some mop up duty the first 3 or 4 games and then not see them any more. thats been his M.O. the last few years. My gut tells me this year might be different.
  5. That's a good point. Just thinking back on our safety play last year makes me cringe. i feel the same way but again the talent was not there. stafford could lay the wood but he still has not wrapped anyone up yet. dont get me started on pj smith. it cant get much worse then that. the secondary looked bad at times last year because they were being asked to cover guy for .10 + seconds because the pass rush could not do anything. when we had any pass rush our secondary was very good. and that is not only when tj was here but could be said for any secondary coach in football. again i agree with you that our safeties last year were god awful last year at times but tj cant be on the field to make the plays for the guys. we ask a lot from our safeties. if o'hanlan can do it surely we can find another body to do the same.
  6. our safeties have sucked because lack of talent. not because of joseph. he is a hell of a coach and i would go out on a limb and say he is the best one we have had here in some time. better then marvin.
  7. Weren't most of his mistakes made when asked to play out of position? I was just going to ask, is he still at tackle or has he been working inside at guard? I thought I saw somewhere where he was still listed at tackle. I was disappointed. I think he could be a decent guard. He just looked way out of position last year at tackle. he is too slow to be playing guard for us. he can't get out of his stance and pull like we need him too. tackle is where he needs to learn how to play. which he seems to look slow and out of shape and at time completely lost while learning the tackle spot. i hope we don't see much of him unless things have drastically changed. he's a good kid just gets abused by good d ends.
  8. the reason this topic is not addressed in red shirting a guy is because that is not how red shirting is used. its used for a player that is not ready physically to perform at the highest level. lets say you are a coach. you have an incoming freshman who has no credits to his name,(which is most high school kids going into their first year of college) who had lets say a 2.7 gpa, only got an 18 on his ACT, but has the football ability of an ahman green type his freshman year. are you going to make him redshirt so he can be on a pace to graduate or are you going to throw him out of the field to win you some games? these days you can get fired for winning only 9 games ya know? (too soon?) there will never be a coach to redshirt his players for graduation purposes. it just will never happen with the win now and collect the almighty dollar mentality college sports is surrounded with. You, my friend, are quite correct on many levels. The pressure to win and self-preservation on the behalf of the coach are, unfortunately, often governing criteria... and, at that, to the detriment of many, many, many student athletes. While I agree with your assessment in principle, you probably overstate the case somewhat. I am sure that there are coaches out there that do make red-shirting decisions on academic grounds from time to time --- and even some who do so as a rule... but they are, admittedly, a minority. As to the question you posed to me... I would doubtless red-shirt the student/athlete that needs the academic help irrespective of his readiness physically to produce on the field... simply because it is the right thing to do. Finally, as a university professor, I can tell you that somewhere between 25-80% of students entering the university have already earned college credit and bring credits in with them (the percentage varies rather widely based, of course, upon what university you have in view). The average incoming freshman entering into my university in the major in which I teach carries with them an average of 12 pre-earned college credits and an average ACT of 29. Were this the case for a student athlete then red-shirting on academic grounds would not be mandated --- but the student/athlete you described must, in my view, red-shirt --- even if he makes Adrian Peterson look slow and untalented in comparison. And you are right... my coaching tenure would be short lived! lol. i think it was an easier time back in TO's day. those partial qualifiers that wouldn't always redshirt but would be on campus and work on his academics the first year on campus. those are the top JUCO guys now a days that we strive to get every year at one or two positions. also look at heard and dj singelton as examples of kids who could not qualify and had to sit a year. they would of fallen under that partial qualifying recruits. this is all off topic with regards to this thread but oh well. kick off is almost here and i gotta find something to occupy the time.

  10. dont you put this on him ricky bobby
  11. welp, since we lost out on phillips, could this mean that we will throw all of our eggs in mr newell's basket? i know some say he might be a silent commit but until it is announced or hell really until he signs its just a guessing game. if he is a silent that might have played a part in phillips decision . either way this kid is a must.
  12. kansas aint nebraska but it sure as hell beats missouri. welcome back buddy.
  13. Jamal lord was the best all around athlete out of the bunch. such a violent runner. he should have played either I-back or safety. could have possibly played some outside LB. by no means am i saying he was the best or even a very good qb. he was an average overall qb with his running making up for his lack of throwing accuracy.
  14. kid looks like a beast. he comes off the ball high and a tad slow at times but he counld be a force early for us with the proper tech., coaching.
  15. i would love for kc to take a chance of rex. he can do everything that westbrook did with reid in philly. catch the ball out of the backfield, line up in the slot, pass block to go along with what he brings to the run game. plus he could compliment jamal perfectly.
  16. his hudl video is badass. at least the music starting it off. TECH N9NE!
  17. Seisay was coming along i thought very well until he was hurt a few games in. i also think he was hurt before that as well. Its hard to come back on an ankle injury.
  18. the best for me was the mizzou game in '09. although the kstate game in '10 was also impressive. living in kansas city i was able to attend both games. the kstate game was pure dominance where as the mizzou games was really bo's "coming out party". watching suh be an absolute man-child was one of the most impressive and stunning things i have seen in person at a sporting event of any kind. for one single moment i would have to say alex's kick against colorado followed by suh steamrolling hawkins. i had not reacted like that since the oklahoma game in '01 or purify's catch against a&m.
  19. Corey McKeon was good his soph year but seemed to get worse his jr and sr years. cant forget about jay forman.
