My parents tended bar for years,  and for a while I DJ'd at their bar.  So inevitably I ended up cracking open beers for people here and there.  It was okay.  I preferred DJ-ing.

I did it for a few years while I was in school.  It was ok.  I don't smoke so that bothered me at times and it was gross at the end of the night cleaning out the ashtrays (lol remember when people used to be able to smoke in bars!)  While I didn't mind it when I was in school since I was primarily working to pay for school it certainly sucked at times having to work nights and weekends.  The upside was a lot of my regulars were pretty interesting folks and when it got busy the nights flew by.  The downside was that I'm not a hot chick so I definitely made less money than the other bartenders (my tips were always higher when I got scheduled with one of our female bartenders, often significantly so).  The other upside is still I remember a good bit of the drink recipes of the cocktails I used to make so I can whip up some tasty drinks when the situation call for it.  

With all the being said, I'd never do it again.
