video ugh....didn't really watch much mtv....guess what sticks out is men without hats whip it. sorry...all i can think of right now.
food 2 stand out to me....the original valentinos and runza when they had only 1 store each.
fads pet rocks. silliest thing ever IMO. when everyone else was buying them i went and caught a wild 1 for free.

Oh yeah, Devo- Whip It was big on MTV.
Also ZZ Top Eliminator songs, Legs, Sharp Dressed Man, etc. Played about every two hours on MTV right after it started in the early 80's.
Dire Straits- I want my MTV
Your students won't believe you but that is all MTV showed for quite a few years, music videos.
