The Dude

I use Twitter to get news quickly about my teams, but I don't tweet.

Facebook on the other hand has turned into a giant pile of garbage with people trying to sell crap using pyramid schemes and other people ranting about the downfall of humanity instead of actually doing anything about it.  They quickly get unfriended.  I only keep Facebook in order to get information out quickly to our players and other school groups.

All the complaints about Facebook seem to be more about who and what you're following.   Mine is perfectly enjoyable.

There is no better (or efficient) way to stay up-to-date on national/international news, sports news, issues you care about, etc. 

If you follow the people that cover what is important to you, you can be updated at your own will. I don't really "tweet" (outside of the occasional exchange with local Husker media) but, Twitter is the last social media platform that I would give up.

It's immensely valuable to me.

Facebook is fine. I'd be lying if I said I didn't check it almost daily. Having said that, I still use it for it's intended purpose of keeping track of friends, old classmates, and family that I don't live near any longer.
